Bench Davis and start Brown!

Davis might honestly be the worst #2 of any team in the playoffs.

…which is not very encouraging. So tired of it being on Allen and Diggs all the time through the air and then once every 4-5 weeks Davis does something impersonating a #2.

Thankfully there has been more Knox in the second half of the season.

EDIT: and respectfully, fyi, Davis is the 87th leading receiver in the league with Allen at QB.

If you base is value off stats, 32 teams 3 recievers from each team is 96, which would put him as a bad #3 Wr with Allen dropping darts on him

Sorry that sideline catch was a bad pass just like the endzone pass to Diggs. Neother pass gave the WR a chance to make the catch.

Davis has his issues but just like last week when Allen missed Beasley, not every ball that the WR gets his hands on can be caught.

Agree a number of the passes he's dropped were not good throws.  The first possession, they never showed a replay, but pass was low and behind him from what I recalled.  Could he have got lucky and caught it sure.  But he's being blamed for anything that comes close.

Having said, he did drop at least two that he should have had today including the pass near the end in the end zone and recall one other he should have had.  Over all do agree they need improvement next season at WR, but not sure making changes at this point is the best thing.

Allen is also struggling with accuracy much more of late and had lead to many inaccurate passes.  Maybe that's still due to the injury??

Davis's drops are a problem, but likely we can't address it with guys who were out of the league to start the year. He gets into position to make the catch but drops too many. The other guys may not even get into position which could lead to sacks or INTs. Have to trust the coaches.

The other WR who does not have reliable hands is McKenzie.

Its at the point its embarrassing to even see Mckenzie on the field at WR.   Outside of Diggs we have nothing.  Time to use that high draft capital on WR and OL.  I say 1st 4 picks on Wr and Ol then draft a safety or two

They clearly put too much weight into Davis and his performance in the divisional game last season… He is the same guy he always was which is still a good reserve WR, but he isn’t a 1B WR.

He isn't the same guy he was the past 2 years. He is much worse. It's a really frustrating development. They were counting on him to step up and instead he inexplicably regressed. His rookie season he was making ridiculous toe drag catches in a critical drive of a playoff game. Today he didn't even try dragging his 2nd foot on a routine play along the sideline. I don't get it.

Didn't get his 1st foot in either - lack of sideline awareness.

Can we just trust the coaching staff at this point?

Bench Davis right before playoffs? This same crowd was crying to start Elam, and he immediately became the go-to target for the opposition to exploit. Any time Josh plays poorly or the defense gets rolled over, we're also crying to fire McDermott/Frazier/Dorsey.

We had posts on this board whining about everything from Edmunds to Hines, then both end up being crucial to today's win. Yes, there are plenty of flaws to this team, but there's enough blame to go around on EVERYONE. Let's just hope McDermott & Co. have them all ready when it matters most.

give the reliable vet the start over the young guy with feet for hands.

I think that's a really bad idea, Davis really seems to shine in the playoffs. You don't give up on players that's how they get better.

I agree that Gabe has disappointed at times this season.

Here's hoping he can regain his form to help out down the stretch because there isn't a true 1b WR on the roster IMO

I would be pleasantly surprised if Brown still has the gas to fill the 1b role full time, happy to be wrong.

It's more likely things stay the same and the ball keeps getting spread around, with a fair number of drops.

Go Bills!

Over the shoulder grab diving forward?

Nope. Gabe has had trouble making catches that would be considered pretty routine this year.

You mean like that TD Josh dropped in his bread basket today or that time Josh hit him down the sideline in the numbers against the Jets with a bum elbow?

Gabe definitely needs to start catching the ball more consistently.

On a positive note...It was nice seeing Allen letting a few deep balls rip. We've seen little to none of that since the elbow injury. One good thing that came from what happened Monday night is he's only had 1 drive in a 2 week span. Gotta think it helped his elbow injury.

WR 2 is high on Bills off-season needs

It's #1 need. It's the difference between us & Cincy. Hell even the Phins have a better weapons set up. We won't win it all w/o true #2 & 3 weapons which we don't have right now. (Davis 48 catches on 93 targets= 51.6%)

These next 2 weeks we're about to get a clinic in the importance of a true WR2. Cincy is gonna be a problem.

45 receptions in 15 games and about 55% catch ratio is not even yeoman effort for the supposed #2 receiver on a team that is supposed to be a super bowl contender with a QB who is routinely in consideration for MVP status.

Enough of this garbage and excuses that week and and week out is made for someone who is “spectacular”,  briefly, once every 150-180 minutes on the clock.

”oh, you can’t enjoy a win.”

yes I can and it was great, but I want a super bowl.

Does anyone know how fast Brown is, right now?

I would imagine he has lost a few steps; he did have a spectacular TD catch today though.

The team knows better than us how fast/slow he is; that could be a factor.

Replacing Davis is an off-season project IMO.

The writing was on the wall when the Bills acquired Smoke and Cole.  Just a little message to Gabe to figure it out. After Diggs, no one is safe. It would not surprise me whatsoever if the Bills draft a wr in the 1st or 2nd.

The thing about recent Gabe? The context. This is a 13 win team and our 2WR has not shown as WR2, since Pittsburg 98 yd 12 wks ago. Brown demonstrated too much today.

Unfortunately, it’s our secondary injuries that will ultimately burn us vs hill/ Joe / pat

Pretty sure they both can be available…you know, again. Gabe did and had made many clutch catches in his time. Not sure if you seen but Smoke has been unemployed for a minute also

Davis has over 800 yards, just some silly threads
