If anything is derogatory, it’s the crowd chanting.  Same with the Atlanta Braves.

Wrong.   Crude and rude behavior by fans is sad, but officially embracing rude and crude as part of a team's official name encourages fan bad behavior.

White pinstriping around the numbers and helmet logo… but not on the center stripe. The matte finish is turrible. Huge chest wordmark, and on the maroon jersey, they actually outline it with an additional stripe on top and bottom. BFBS - Black for black’s sake. On edit: And no stripes on the pants, just pajamas.

It hits so many of the trash design elements.

🤦🏻‍♂️.

I can’t see many fans actually buying this dreck. They’ll just wear the previous old ones.

Uniforms are hilariously bad too.

Yes. There’s no consistency across these. Very amateurish

I thought the name Red Hogs was a no brainer. Pays tribute to the players of the past. Keeps the same traditions (the song Hail to the Redskins is easily now sung "Hail to the Red Hogs). Even the #HTTR stays the same. Merchandise would be pretty cool. Stuffed hogs, the old piggie noses ect.

I said months ago that if they picked another name they were idiots. I forgot to factor in that Dan Snyder is in fact, an idiot. My bad.

And yet the NFL has Snoop Dog (cop hater whose lyrics promote killing cops) as the halftime show. That is OK but we can't have the name Redskins.

Not only are these songs 30 years old, the lyrics were in response to the very very well documented corruption of LAPD in the early- to mid-90s. Kinda different from a racist sports team name. But false equivalency will make you feel more righteous.

I thought an appropriate name would have been the Red Tails to honor the Tuskegee Airmen, as the majority of players are black.

You are fusilli.  The league (players) is 70% African American and you're saying that the WFT, alone, should choose a team name honoring them?

I figured no matter what they picked there'd end up being a ton of faux outrage anyway.

People were going to hate whatever was chosen, so looks like they just picked something safe.

Aside from being generic, the only thing I'd be upset about is the lack of a cool & unique helmet logo. Everything else is just "fine," & boring.

It’s a start. It would honor the airmen not the players, which would show a recognition of black contributions to America by a team that represents a city with a large black population. There are teams named after white people; Buffalo Bills (Cody), (Paul) Browns, and the Vikings.

go chasing tails….or tail chasers

History lesson here…

this name has been asked to be changed for a long time

speculators have copyrighted and trademarked many of these potential team names that would have cost washington to pay millions to get rights to from speculators.

they could not legally force these owners to give them up.

How great would it have been if they went to all the Tribal leaders and got permission to use the former team name. In all honesty though I was really enjoying calling them Washington Football Team. Commanders sound like a minor league team name. Maybe it'll make sense around the same time as the Rams power point numbers.
