If we can get by those 2 things, I don't think there's anyone who wouldn't want him back.
Bills92
I love the idea... but you do realize every time Fitzmagic has come into a backup position.. more often then not, the starter gets injured. I'm not superstitious, but I'm a little stitious. So I'd prefer bringing back Matt Barkley. Go Bills! 2

I'm not sure he isn't just retiring, if there was a team he'd be willing to be a back up QB on I'd think it'd be this one but he's going turn 40 next year. 716er
Extend Trubisky another year. He could compete for a job with a loser like Houston where he'd likely lose out to Mills/rookieQB or be a backup, and one play away from the starter, on one of the best teams in the NFL. Yobogoya!
Looking at who’s available next year, I’d consider all of them to be a big downgrade from Trubisky. Brissett might be able to come in and win a game if need be. Maybe McCoy? Honestly it’s a real crapshoot. Not enough good QB’s to go around let alone backups. Is Fitz done trying to compete for a starting role? TEN - Lockers last year. HOU - Keenum and Mallet NYJ - Geno Smith insurance TB - Jameis Winston insurance MIA - Starter out of camp WAS - Starter until injured. 947
I think Minshew would be a perfect fit in our offense, and while no threat to Josh, would be an immediate fan favorite. Philly got him for a conditional 6th, they just re-committed to Hurts for next year, so they may be willing to part with Minshew for a 4th or 5th. Ideally we'll be getting an extra 3rd if Frazier becomes a HC, so a 4th/5th becomes easier to part with. 2

BuffaloBillyG
Fitz will be popular but he'd be a bit farther down my list due to age and coming off that injury. I'm sure there will be a few QBs that are released that we don't know yet. I would also suspect they are in the late round QB market. The vet QB market is SLIM. A Mariota, Bridgewater or Dalton level vet is where we likely end up. 13 minutes ago, 947 said: I think Minshew would be a perfect fit in our offense, and while no threat to Josh, would be an immediate fan favorite. He even reportedly asked for the promotion after nailing his spot start and was denied. If the Eagles were to part ways with him I would see him trying to get someplace like Indy or Pittsburgh before here. 26 minutes ago, Malazan said: Looks like next season of Cobra Kai is gonna be LIT

Blainorama5
Here's a radical idea. NO backup QB! We can save at least one gameday roster spot that way for a real punter, so our elite holder only has to come out with Bass. Josh will be fine! 😳
Royale with Cheese
I only want Ryan Fitzpatrick. Seriously, that's who I want. You will see as many Fitz jerseys as you would Allen in the stands I predict. He's that popular.

If he would have started for Indianapolis this year instead of Wentz I feel like the Colts get in. Pittsburgh will be in the market. If Denver fails to get Rodgers, Wilson or someone like that (and I don't think either is going anywhere, yet again) they could use him. Browns rumored to be bringing in competition for Baker. Panthers need a QB, Falcons may need one. Not supposed to be a great QB draft or FA market. Mitch will have offers with opportunities to earn the start IMO. Jacoby Brissett is my UFA pick by far from the guys that are currently available. I don't think the Bills go with an old QB (someone over say 32). Josh is way past that need. Also, I don't see a guy that is too young and inexperienced. His pay is now trending down so he won't cost too much and a 2-year deal would be the ticket. If he fits in and settles in as a backup for the rest of his career, he could end up staying for a little longer.

TailgateChef
Maybe Mitch looks at Frank Reich and thinks "things turned out pretty well for that guy...." Fitz would be fun. Logic
Because I don't think Fitz wants to come back to be a backup, he won't be my answer. I get the sense that, at this point in his life, he'll either go somewhere where he has a chance to start, or he'll retire. With that out of the way... I'll take Sam Darnold. He and Josh are close friends. He's a mobile guy with a big enough arm to where you wouldn't have to change the offense when he was in the lineup. Put him the Bills culture rehabilitation program and see what happens.
