Fitz was playing well and the offense was fighting it’s ass off for him. The defense was playing hard every snap too. They’ve been in every game. I could see if Fitz was struggling, but I feel like this move is hard to justify to the team if you want them to be,I’ve their goal is to try and win every game this season. I think it’s probably more about when Tua was ready and they think he’s ready now and making the move despite what Fitz has done. Also hoping we can bring back Fitz to be QB2 behind Allen next year and maybe this helps that happen... Albany,n.y. Posted October 20, 2020 Share Posted October 20, 2020 This reminds me of the 2004 NY Giants. They had rookie QB Eli Manning and veteran Kurt Warner. Warner started the 1st 9 games. The Giants were 5-4 and put the ball into Eli's hands. Now the difference is it was later in the season & the Giants had just lost 2 straight after starting the season 5-2 with Warner. The Giants wanted Eli to get real game experience even though he wasn't ready and as Warner proved in Arizona, he had plenty left in him. Eli lost the next 6 games before winning the finale, looking totally lost until his 5th start, where he finally showed flashes of being an NFL QB. Perhaps more that 1,000? Tua is a fine QB and a fine person. If he performs well (and I think that he will), the fans will adore him. The phish were going nowhere this season so why not play this kid and let him gain valuable experience for 2021? Don't they also have extra picks next year? I thought they were being really smart and sort of admired the fact that they were sticking to a plan despite the fans calling for the rookie a few times this year. I understand what someone said above about a controlled environment but they seemed to be on a good run with Fitz, especially since Chan is once again calling the plays for him. Maybe Chan has mentioned all the killer plays he'd be able to draw up with Tua in there. There's absolutely no reason to put this kid in the starting lineup. Even if he's 100% recovered fro his surgery, there's no harm in letting him watch this first season to develop. The offense is going to take a step back with Tua. This isn't an indication of how I think he will overall be as a pro, just replacing a solid starting (albeit streaky) qb for a rookie who's been out of football for almost 2 years is a risk for any team.
