The highlights need to be watched they're simply amazing! That's what a HOFer should truly be, someone who when watching at the peak of performance is mind blowing.

D. L. Hot-Flamethrower
Probably the best return man ever. When I think of great returners I think of Devin Hester (19Tds), Dante Hall(12), Deion Sanders(9). Hall had a TD every 53.5 returns, Sanders 40.8 and Hester 32.1. Sayers had 8Tds but one every 14.7 returns!

jkx2
While it's Billy Dee Williams playing Gale,. Gale's words and his relationship with Brain Piccolo has stayed with me since I saw Brian's song 50 years ago. Two men who transcended football. 1
TigerJ
He would have been in the conversation of best running back ever if he'd had a longer career. No question about him being a legit hall of famer.

Shaw66
Sorry he's gone. In my mind, he was by some measures the greatest. The guy put together runs that were absolute things of beauty. msw2112
Sayers was one of the most electric, elusive backs of all time. His moves were unmatched. From my time, only Barry Sanders and OJ were even close. Also, when I lived in Chicago, I dated a girl who lived in the same condo building as Sayers. We'd see him around from time to time. He was very friendly and humble. You wouldn't know he was a celebrity if someone didn't tell you who he was.

Peter
Gayle Sayers - by all accounts, you were a wonderful man and outstanding football player. When I was a kid, I remember watching Brian's Song and loved the relationship that Gayle and Brian Piccolo had. They are now back together again. RIP Gayle.
