He sucks on defense so I can only hope he’s only here to play ST.

Where do you get your information?  Maybe he's not good enough to start at Pittsburgh, but they must feel there are ways to utilize his talents other than just special teams, or they would not have signed him.

A few friends are Steelers fans and I trust their judgement.

And you know this how? Clearly this guy’s known primarily for his ST play and McD loves him some ST.

The ST unit while not bad last season was far from an elite unit. And I am not talking about the shaky punting and Haush not having much leg beyond 50. The coverage units were just OK. I think adding another ST ace to the coverage and kick units is a proactive decision that helps the ST take another step up. If only they could find a punter.

Too much for a process ST guy.

 To Do List

1. Griffen

2. Bulaga

3. Leonard Floyd

4. Jordan Howard

5. Extend White Now!

6. Cut waste (Murphy, Nsheke, Smith, etc)

Nsheke is a waste?  Yikes!  Agree to disagree (respectfully).

Agree on Murphy and Smith, but keeping a solid swing tackle like Nsekhe around makes a great deal of sense to me.  Hell, he could potentially be our starting RT.

I looked up his ST snap count.  He had 340 snaps on ST last year.

In 2019 Stafford led the Bills with 297.

His ST snap % was 79% which means he play all ST plays except XP and FG attempts.

Looks like he will be the ST Captain in 2020.

What will happen to DiMarco?  LOL

I think we let go of DiMarco and bring in someone else who provides a bit more athleticism at the position and can be a weapon in the passing game.

I will be shocked if there isn't a FB brought in for competition this year.

DiMarco is 31 years old.  Time for an upgrade.

Yep, otherwise just scrap the FB altogether. Either find the next Jusczyk ( he was McDs original FA target, after all) or eliminate the position like most teams have.

kinda hope not.  he still seems backup caliber.  I guess okay as the 3rd LB, but in that case i hope we draft someone also.  I guess we drafted a guy last year.

We run a lot of Nickel so the 3rd LB has a limited amount of snaps anyway. I think Klein is good enough to be that guy and he still contributes to ST. He should fill in for LorAx relatively well, but without the occasional work on the DL.

And you are right that we have a couple young guys that could rise up.

So Klein and now Matakevich. Are we going to sign any real players or just bolster the almost irrelevant (nowadays) special teams players

Special teams, special teams, we don't need no stinking special teams..............vamanos!

What a waste of money. They still have multiple draft picks to add linebackers for special teams.

Would be nice if they got rid of DiMarco.

Special teams are not as important as people make them out to be

......until BB and the Pats* block a punt and win the game because of it.

Essentially replaces Julian Stanford. One of those Temple tough single digit guys. I attended a clinic with their d line coach a few years ago and Matakevich flashed on film big time. This is “Kelsay lunch pail” process guy to the max. Dude is gonna be a fan favorite and upgrades a sub par special teams unit.

Kickoffs are, for the most part, a thing of the past.

Yes, I know. Just providing an optimistic counter to your original. Tangentially, but related, I kinda hope we draft Rodrigo Blankenship in the later rounds.

To be fair, it does seem odd to see the words Kelsay and fan favorite in the same thought process.
