He just got himself fired.  I actually think he’s not a bad head coach but he has way too much power.  It’s too hard of a job for one person.

I actually think while he paid a high price for the trades his personnel moves in the main worked out. Rebuilding that defense without high picks is a challenge though.

I think defense is a lot easier to strengthen without high picks than offense.

Yeah, joke’s on them, winning a playoff game, drafting a Pro Bowl QB and WR who roasted our shutdown CB and all that.
(Actually, I do think this was an ill advised move, but c’mon folks, a lot is forgiven if you regularly make the playoffs and get the right guy at QB)

He didn't draft those guys. He had a GM.

He’s the HC, GM, and OC ?Apparently he can only work with himself.

he fired the DC last week

He's saving the owners money by multitasking.  Pretty soon the Texans will be the NFL's only team with no assistant coaches.

Actually, I stand corrected on Deandre Hopkins - I think he was drafted before O’Brien was there. But not on Deshaun Watson - even if there was a GM in place, today’s move simply cements what was always true: O’Brien calls the shots.

So if O'Brien gets credit for calling the shots on drafting Watson, does he get blame for Brock Osweiler?

No! Because the only mistake that keeps on giving is the one you refuse to cut your losses on. In retrospect that "trade" of Osweiler to Cleveland was brilliant.

Look, here's the point I'm trying to make on O'Brien:

- made the playoffs in 4 out of 6 years

- won a game in the playoffs in a couple of those years

If McDermott's Bills make the playoffs in the next 2 seasons and actually win a game in each, we'll be applauding his contract extension.
