Weak minded Player. Not a Trait you want in your QB 1

Exactly right. And their were warnings signs of this from college.

Put your helmet on and act like everyone else I can see in that video. Ignore and move on. Baker can’t, Baker values the opinions of strangers. People who don’t know him and don’t like him because he wears a different uniform. Signs of severe insecurity. Hope he figures that out.

I think Baker has officially surpassed Jameis as the dumbest QB in the league.

Maybe they can share some crab legs in the off season and exchange stories ;)

....22 TD's....21 Picks....those are "fightin' stats".........quite the clown and a perfect fit for Haslam's "Big Top".............

Needs 9 more in a season to equal Jameis ;)

I don't really have an issue with Mayfield picking a fight with a few fans. Its juvenile, but  harmless and does little in his ability to be a good QB. Guys use different things to motivate them. If Mayfield has to prove that fan wrong, then good for him.

I do think Mayfield needs to become more professional overall. Someone posted a picture of him at the beginning of the year and end of year with his press conferences. I don't think you need to wear a suit, but if you are the face of the franchise, you should look and act like it.

He is talented and played very well at times last year. Plenty to work with and if you can harness his attitude and passion, he could be a great player. They need to hire the right coach to do it. I have very little faith in the Browns to do that

Jays game around 1979 i was first row right field line at Exhibition Stadium, the seating was metal benches, but right alongside the visiting bullpen

Red Sox reliever Dick Drago took a disliking to a fan's jibes and for five minutes leaned over my seating area inviting the mouth to come down to discuss the matter

Roy Howell hit a 3-run walkoff homer in the 9th to make it a great day

The only heckles I recall being involved in are at the Ralph. When we opened the season in 2005, I got front row seats on the 30 or so (opponents side). Me and another rando Bills fan were harassing, in a fairly friendly manner, Texans CB  Phillip Buchanon all day.

When Carr threw either his second or third pick, can't recall which, we yelled to him "Hey PBuck, wish you had another QB!" and he straight up turned around and nodded his head to us.

and again....  two Fish fan friends in Marino jerseys were loaded and sitting 2 rows behind the Bills bench during the Kelly Era

they started picking on a Bills young DB who wasn't getting in the game, with several calls to his number and mean things said

in the 4th he got his only career Pick 6 off Marino, the whole time staring at my friends as he came back to the bench with ball in hand

went up to them and yelled "I *****ed your Mother!!"

The guy is incredibly unlikeable.

Keeping an enemies list of eveyone who vaguely said anything critical against him =" asshat"  (admittedly it appears many posters here do the say thing for Josh Allen)

Calling Daniel Jones a loser before ever meeting him = "asshat"

Planting the OU flag at OSU = "asshat"

Grabbing his nuts against Kansas = "asshat"

Swearing at reporters after a lost = "asshat"  (I know a whole lot of athletes would like to do this but they have more self-control)

Threatening to fight fans at bengals game = "asshat"

Blaming referees for a lost after throwing three interceptions = "asshat"

Coming in overweight to training camp = "complacent asshat"

At least you won't have to worry about him working out with Josh Allen and Sam Darnold this off-season: "I do not need anyone to teach me how to do a three step drop"

I'm not saying he is a bust yet -- base on his history he is going to be working really hard in the off-season and perhaps with competent coaching he will get his game back.  However, he is probably the only player I ever hoped would fail.

Ya I agree. I don't like him at all and I very rarely feel that way about players .

A franchise QB is so much more than on field ability. Allen clearly is heavily respected by everyone in this organization , the way he handles himself off the field has a huge impact on the team and has a direct impact on the teams performance imo.

What is this part about?

" “There is always room to improve and take things from there and there, but I would not say that I will go on the beach and swim through the ocean and try and learn how to play quarterback by doing that.”

It kind of sounds like a "dig" at Allen and Darnold who have rented a beach house together near Jordan Palmer the last 2 off seasons.

Full section Here:

"....... he seemed locked in on his offseason priorities, both when he gathers offensive players to work together and when he’s on his own.

“I already know what exactly I need to work on and improve going forward,” Mayfield said. “That is the exciting thing about it, it is always a continual process of getting better and improving.”

Mayfield said he will study his technique and try to improve his footwork, but not with a private quarterback coach.

“I do not need somebody to teach me how to do a three-step drop,” Mayfield said. “I can look at film and be critical of myself. Throughout this process, I have had people help me out along the way and try and take things from different people. Anytime I am around somebody, I ask questions. Do not act like I have it all figured out.

“There is always room to improve and take things from there and there, but I would not say that I will go on the beach and swim through the ocean and try and learn how to play quarterback by doing that.”

Browns offensive coordinator Todd Monken knows that players can benefit from hiring what he called “trainers.”

“You have it at all positions. Some are strength and conditioning. Some are technical,” Monken said. “All of it is good; people that dedicate their time and their livelihood to improve players’ performance on the field. But there is a difference between tutoring and training and then what we have to do, which is be held accountable for their actions.”

Mayfield’s flawed footwork has affected his accuracy, but he said he doesn’t need a quarterback guru to help him work on that."

Definitely seems like a subtle shot at Allen/Darnold/Palmer to me.

Baker doesn’t seem humble enough to train with someone like Palmer anyway, and have him critiquing every throw. Plus, it would probably interfere with Baker’s TV commercial shoot schedule. I mean, how is he going to film 17 new commercials if he’s out in Cali training all summer...? ?

It's unfortunate the Browns haven't put him in a better position to succeed. These guys go in and out of college as the big dogs. Getting them grounded enough to transition to 1/11th has to be a difficult task, but you get the sense in Cleveland that 1/11th is a foreign concept.

Just small.

Sure there are some really irritating fans out there, you put up with them when you have the misfortune of being seated next to them, but as a pro athlete your best bet is to just ignore it.

He is a competitor, but the distractions he creates are a bit much for a team trying to focus and be more disciplined.

I am so glad they took Baker and not Allen.

don't think you can make sure a QB, who by nature of the position is the "face of the franchise" and always thrust in front of the media, "stays in line".  The cameras and microphones are always on.  It has to be internally driven - he has to be persuaded it's in his interest to change certain behaviors.

Meh it's 100% on the coach IMO. GM brings the talent, coach reigns in the egos. The QB leads in the locker room and we can't really determine how he's doing in that facet from media narratives running wild off random things caught on video.

It looked like they responded last year and not so much this year. He may have the leadership skills, might not, but I'd start with getting rid of the common denominator of Kitchens and see if Baker can get the locker room back. I certainly wouldn't let the difficult ego QB select a coach with zero resume and influence the franchise as much as he did last year in selecting Kitchens. For now I'm seeing this as all Kitchens' fault.

For example the criticism of all the commercials he's in is silly. He's taking money where he can get it, who wouldn't do that. And if a coach is unhappy about it, plenty of coaches have instructed players to choose the gridiron over TV. Heard stories about Peyton's Colts and Tom Coughlin operating that way.

This is super entertaining! If I launched my own spin-off show called "Good Morning Baker Mayfield," or GMBM, and focused exclusively on his career meltdown, would y'all turn in? The show's acronym, GMBM, would work on multiple levels. I welcome your feedback.

I have a Good Morning BM every day. Right after my coffee.
