Pro Football Network: Bills one of teams in on Clowney trade

So how tight to the cap are the Texans?  If they sign Clowney to the one year tender, does that force them to release players they want to keep?  Could be the other GMs around the league are letting the Texans sweat a little.

Hmmm...playing for a likely playoff team or a flaming s##tshow? Decisions, decisions.

Oh...and if Clowney is the kind of player who is thinking about the beach during his contract year then the Texans are smart to get rid of him. He's perfect for Miami.

Where are people getting this "likely playoff team" from? Pretty much everyone has the Bills projected to be roughly a 7 win team. That's a "team with a shot at a wild card," not a likely playoff team. I understand being a homer, but really, we're getting a little out over our skis here.

Just keep in mind that the Texans can ask for the moon and stars, but if no one gives it to them, then what? And don't forget Clowney's say in this. He can control what team he goes to.

I think Miami would be idiotic to trade Tunsil here for a one year rental when you know what is what it is.........but I have seen more stupid things done in the league

The Bills can only offer what they have......and they do have some assets that are not super stars....and draft picks

This is not a 7 win team.....we have a favorable schedule a good defense and a improved offense.

I think it is perfectly ok to forsee a playoff team this year....even if it is just a wild card

If we trade for Clowney, lots of analysts will have us as a playoff team.  Even some of the ones who never watch Josh Allen, yet are convinced he’s terrible, will concede that our defense makes that likely.

Well, not to make too fine a point of it, but note that so long as we remain strapped in by our ski boots, we should never be able to get out too far over our skis . I think at 10 wins we become likely playoff bound—upgrades at WR and OL alone, provided we stay reasonably healthy in the reg season, should be good for 4+more wins over last year, imho.

The only trade the bills made that was ever worth it was the trade for Cornelius Bennett , the only free agent move that was worth it was Bryce Paup...Two out of alot does not say much. I guess you could throw Jerry Hughes in that trade category also , that was pretty much a steel but other than that it's all garbage,  keep what you got and Build from within.

McCoy for Alonso

Takeo Spikes

And I’d call Hughes more of a carbon fiber composite.

He's only getting traded if the team that trades for him agrees not to use the franchise tag on him again.  The Bills would not be allowed to work on a contract extension during the season.  This essentially means the Bills wouldn't be willing to give up much to obtain him.  He will remain a Texan.

I  should have clarified my point better, I am not talking about resurrected vet signings, I am talking bonafide your paying the moon with picks or big money free agent signings. Not the OMG I got lucky with a veteran we gave up nothing for or signed for peanuts contract.....

To understand this is to understand the history of the bills

Remember....the Pegullas have not always owned this team.....Ralph Wilson (god bless him) but that era was filled with mis management of both free agents and draft picks

......that mismanagment led to bad teams....or the in the middle teams which can sometimes be worse

.....no real attempts to get a franchise QB

.....no concerted efforts to biuld a dominant offensive line

.....cash to cap signing

......bad reputation

When you have the above....what you get is players coming out after meeting with the bills practically lauphing when they are met by reporters (I dont remember the player that did this...but he was not even star player....we couldnt get star players to come here)

I feel like the bills have really cleaned this up....now they do deals that make sense for the team and STILL get players to come here.

but...this is why we havent had franchise guys gleefully forfeiting their checks to play for the bills

Why do we have 29 pages of nothing?

It’s a LAMP started by fake news. Conjecture, innuendo, and smoke screens aren’t worth much. Signed contracts are proof in the pudding. Rumors started by talking heads just feed the appetite of the 24/7 news cycle.

If I was you I'd just stay away from any thread started by yolo since you know he's just a lamp thread starter and all
