Mr. WEO
"The original suit alleges that Cantor was fired in October 2016 after having falsely been accused of stealing clothes from a network employee. advertisement The suit seeks unspecified damages for wrongful termination, sexual harassment, retaliation, defamation and age discrimination, alleging that the person who was hired to replace Cantor is 21 years younger than she." This plaintiff has a lot of beefs. My guess is that all those guys will be able to produce phone records that might show voluntary participation by the plaintiff in such conversations. Kmart128
Wow this is getting out of hand. Watching the news last night and someone claimed sexual harrassment for a unwanted hug... In your mind "looking at an attractive woman" is the same as "sending a video of yourself masturbating to a co-worker"?? Can you really not see why one of those is wrong and the other is not? Let's try another one: Which one of these is wrong: A) looking at an attractive woman, or B) sending sex toys to a female co-worker? 3 2

If women complain of being groped without their consent and having a guy pull out his junk and demand sex of some form - don't go all defensive and chirp about how "what's next, looking at an attractive woman is gonna be sexual harassment". hemma
It has been a pain in the ass to be a small employer for a while now, but I bet it's about to get worse. Employers will begin seeing physically attractiveness as a negative that will need to be covered by the ADA. I know I'd be extra careful. Steptide
I dunno, for me I just think of it this way, you had a sexual revolution in the 60s and 70s, then released porn movies into theaters in the 80s, and now everything in media and on TV is overly sexualized. Meanwhile theirs probably 40 different websites you can stream free porn on, but the public is shocked and outraged when a sexual allegation happens. Again, Im not justifying it, but what does the public expect. It is a result of culture that we've created. On top of that, our president owns or owned the miss America pageant and is married to a very attractive woman who's posed nude for magazines. dpberr
It seems like every week there is a congressman resigning or a new celebrity allegation. I think some real-world fallout is going to be nobody says or does anything to anybody at any time - so there will be no corporate parties, picnics, zero opportunities to have anything possibly ever happen on the corporate dime where they'd be liable. The corporate lawyers will say "avoid the risk" and just cancel social events entirely. I can see the workplace becoming sterile too. Men will hire men, women will hire women because you might say "Hey, you look nice today." and somebody feels harassed, files a complaint, and then resources have to be dedicated to investigating it because you can't really define harassment. Everyone has a different sensitivity to it. Plus, although it appears a lot of these cases have been going on a long time impacting numerous women, there is something about being innocent until proven guilty. These allegations have serious consequences. I'm assuming that the allegations are true since a lot of these men aren't filing massive lawsuits in court. You get no argument from me that the entertainment and fashion industries have been super-sexualized, and that and the free availability of p*rn create a sexualized culture. It's a great point, even before moving to the boy's clothes department 'cuz you can't buy sturdy non-sexualized clothes in girls for your 6 year old daughter. As far as "what does the public expect" though, all my friends who discuss being into p*rn make a big deal that p*rn-consumers understand the difference between fantasy and real life and just because they enjoy a good fantasy doesn't mean they'd overstep IRL. And I have a good friend, middle aged mom, who is a member of a nudist club so she tries to get me to visit and talks about what it's like, how people behave etc - it's not at all sexual according to her. So I'm kinda not sure what you're arguing here - are you saying that contrary to the p*rn lovers arguments and the behavior expected at nudist clubs, people really can't tell the difference between entertainment/fantasy and real life or can't control themselves, so we need to control entertainment in order to have folks behave decently IRL? sullim4
It would seem incredibly easy to fabricate a complaint against someone you seek revenge against. I'm not saying these accusations aren't credible, but the prevailing feeling here is that these guys are guilty until proven innocent. Given the sheer volume of complaints recently, I have to believe less than 100% of them are credible.

In some cases yes. You and I know the difference between fantasy and reality, but some don't. You watch enough porn and or movies/TV and some think it's reality. On top of that, smartphones and social media also add to these things. I remember in high school trying to download porn on a friend's computer (this was in the 90s with dial up internet) and you'd be lucky to get a photo of a naked chic. Now any 15 yr old kid can go on his phone and find any kind of porn or fetish his heart desires. You put that impression on young minds and yes, I can absolutely see why some men may not be able to discern reality from fantasy. Let me also add a personal story to the equation. This is just my own example, and I'm not dis crediting any accusations made by woman. When I was about 19, I worked with a chic who was super flirty. She'd rub up against you and litterally mess with you all day. She lived with her bf by the way. After a few months of working with her, for whatever reason she told her bf that I slept with her. I never once even kissed this chic or did ANYTHING with her. She ended up quitting but everyone I worked with thought I had sex with her. I never ever even tried or tried to even hang out with her outside work. This was roughly 17 years ago, but I can only imagine if that happened today. They also should start suing the women themselves. Once you force them to spend 25K in lawyer fees I bet a lot of tunes change---can't have it cutting into the shoe, hair and nail budget after all... Funniest part is, it's only "harrassment" when the woman isn't interested in you...if they are interested half the time they end up in the nearest closet or bathroom with you...SMFH at the double standards they are allowed to get away with.
