    • No. For example, Gronk will take targets away from Dawson Knox who is breaking out.

There should be a third option for "only if he's willing to take $5M or less."

Personally, I don't think he's a big enough upgrade at TE1, but at TE2 do we really think Gronk isn't a big upgrade over Tommy Sweeney?

He'd be great for Knox's development as well. Who cares if it feels weird to sign him.

He's from Buffalo, loves the city, and is a great player.

But does he love the Bills?  Would he always love his Patriots more and feel like he was disrespecting them moving into their division?  I think if this happened the despicable hit on Tre would come up in the media.  For the sake of team unity and preventing awkward press questions to both, he'd have to publicly apologize.   If he said he wouldn't - F him...

He would have been an upgrade over Knox this year.

Clearly........he put up much bigger numbers.

Question is do you want to commit to more 12 personnel..........which I don't think is a bad idea at all........it opens up bigger plays downfield for this offense and makes them better running the ball as a side benefit.

Gronk's stats would have been second to Gabe Davis in yards per reception and first on the team with 6.4 yards of RAC.......which is very high........higher than his peer Travis Kelce(6.1), for instance.

I would LOVE THIS but I'm not sure he has any real interest in "returning home" for yet another season of football.

With Brady done, he'll be done too, I think.

I would absolutely get him in here for 1 year; let him teach everything he knows to Knox.

He's the best TE of all time.

I agree that they could work it out in the name of winning, but that initial meeting between the two in the locker room would be fun to see.

The Tre/Gronk thing is something only fans would think is a problem.

I'm sure both players have long since forgotten about it.

Back in the good old days, tough guys in the NHL would move to a new team and suddenly be in the dressing room with a guy they fought a bunch of times--doesn't matter.

Once you're on the team, you're on the team and everyone is part of the same family.

That's just a part of the professionalism of sports.

Without knowing Gronk or ever having talked to him, I can guarantee the answer is he wouldn't care AT ALL about that sort of stuff.

That's just stuff fans talk about, not players.

Not sure how anyone could say no, yet alone over half that have responded.  He is still a good receiving threat, he would be used in a lot of 2 TE set formations, he’s still an elite blocker and with the threat of him being able to catch, it would be a very potent rushing and receiving formation.    He wouldn’t take many snaps away from Knox.

You make a jump in there.  Could add gronk and give knox targets.

if anything it’s probably taking away from beasley (or replacing) with short yardage chain movers, settling between zones and red zone…. But a heavy blocker. More two TE sets could be a wrinkle to jump start the run game too.

in fact, I think he pretty well disliked everything but Tom and the rings.

to come in and be a part of the mafia and have a chance to win seems like the best swan song he could ask for

Gronk averaged almost 15 yards per reception last year............about double what Beasley did.

I think it would make them more explosive.......as well as better running the ball.........actually.

I think Gronk would be a great add.  The TE2 is a definite problem right now and having two quality TEs would be a huge benefit.

Gronk is also a good blocker and two TE sets would should be incorporated.  I think Gronk would come here at the market rate, hometown and all.  I think he is a better get than Ertz and I was for that move at the time.

He is an excellent blocker in both protection and the run game.  At this point he would be a #2 to Dawson.   I would do one year in a heartbeat.  Put as many options around Josh as you can.  Tre wants to win as badly as anyone.  He would embrace him.

I don’t think the decision to pass on Gronk is that he’d take away targets for Knox. We NEED another good TE on the roster, and somebody will do that even if Knox is clearly TE #1. My concern about Gronk would be age, injuries and possibly cost. I wouldn’t want to pay TOO much for him, but he’s done a lot of winning in his years.

I can get past the dirty play on Tre. That was indeed atrocious, but I would not want to forever be judged on my worst day. If the health and cost isn’t the reason to pass, the hit on Tre should be overlooked, IMO. %$#^ happens. Michael Jordan punched a teammate. Would you turn him down?

I can’t vote pure “Yes”, but I’m open to it under the right conditions and for the right price.

very likely weird. devils advocate here: Tre is really laid back and silly, and def wants to win.  Without that play I could see them being 2 personalities that mesh well.  Who knows though.  Im sure its a convo Beane and White have before trigger were to get pulled.  I cant see Tre saying no honestly

On a move like that , white has no say. It’s professional sports, you work to get paid, you are paid to work, not get along with an individual. That’s like needing to clear every move with every player about prior grudges!   Not going to happen.  Plus gronk only came out of retirement to be with Brady in a no Belicheck environment.  He has his rings. Brady was as close to a sure thing as gronk could have ever hoped for, and without the promise to go to the SB , he is not that hungry at this point. He will go back to tv; needs to stay away from football as an analyst as he was a joke.  Tre is a good football player, not management; it’s not like keeping Allen “ in the loop “ regarding the O coordinator, which is to keep your Franchise Superstar invested emotionally, even tho he will play with the same intensity regardless who they go with, because he is a true pro and just wired competitively that way.  In Buffalo, it’s pretty clear with all the benchings, personnel moves or lack thereof, who is running the asylum! 😄

Gronks 2021 contract was $8m. For someone who had 2 Super Bowl td catches less than a year ago and is still the best blocking TE in football it’s a no brainer. I know out salary cap right now is nearly tapped but a couple of restructures or cuts (Beasley, star, morse, Williams) and an extension freeing up cash (Diggs) and we’ll have plenty of cash

Nah. He moves like he needs a bathroom break these days.

67 yards per game........nearly 15 yards per catch.........more RAC per reception than Kelce..........still super productive.

He had a good game and "almost" made a leaping grab against Buffalo that was pretty unbelievable for a guy his size.

If he doesn't come to Buffalo I hope he retires..........don't need him joining anyone else the Bills gotta' play.

Haven’t read the entire thread. But Grank has said over and over that he won’t play with a QB that isn’t Brady. Gronk is done.

Gronk doesn't need football.

He definitely won't be coming to Buffalo Bradyless. Makes no sense

Gronk more likely would go to KC if Teflon Tom retires.  They don't care about actions just results.

If Gronk is covered by White he will just whisper "remember" after a tackle to try to get him off his game.

You do not sign an aging player when that player deliberately injured your star CB post play.

I rarely will support a player sitting out but I would in this case and White should demand a trade.

Yeah. The only reason I would want Gronk, is if it's written into his contract that he has to carry Tre into every game on his shoulders.

Silly question, I don’t think Gronk plays again since Brady retired. Gronk IMO is retired as well again.

Well that’s the first time you and I agree.  You’re ok for a Pats fan.

I agree Gronk is retiring.  That basically means in 2027 we have three of the gold jackets taken first ballot in Brady, Big Ben, and Gronk.  Not even up for debate.  Like any or all of them IR hate them, they are getting in immediately.  I don’t think Larry Fitz was considered active this year so he’ll get in the year before and we’ll deserved.

Beane is the one who made a run at him in UFA last year............so better tell Beane about this video.........maybe he was unaware!

Pretty sure the Bills will want to add a mid level TE regardless. At this point, wouldn't call Gronk much more than mid level.  So IMO whoever it might be will take some targets away from Knox.  On the other hand adding another TE will also take defensive attention away from Knox so may allow him to be open more.

Last couple of weeks of the season the Bills offense seemed to play better when using two TE's so may not be a bad thing overall.  Good chance McKenzie is gone, Beasley who knows. So going with Diggs, Davis, 2 TE's and RB may work best.

touche.

I wouldn’t have guessed it to be that high. But yea, even if he lost a step he could fill an existing role better than it was, while also adding additional wrinkles on top.

a new coordinator with a little bit of an updated identity utilizing the 2TE looks could make for a fresh approach to stay ahead of defenses
