It seems the "logic" is they supposedly played one out-of-conference opponent that they wouldn't have had to play last year before most other team., The total number of games played "doesn't matter". Why this matters at all is lost on me as well. The Bills decimated their "extra" opponent. I don't know who the other teams have for theirs but it's moot to bicker about now that Washington is toast. Hopefully the rest of the AFC's "extra" opponents destroy them. Edited September 28, 2021 by Amorgus

If you have an issue with Houston then they are not SB caliber Let's not forget the reason alot of our games are rated as easy is because Josh Allen is an elite QB and we have a quality well balanced team. Teams are already gameplanning to stop Josh Allen while not having the players to do that for a whole game. And don't even get to whether they can figure out where to attack our defense, to even have a chance at winning. Bills strength of schedule largely, dictated by their play quality..... Haven't had a team earn its schedule strength since the 90's and I think we have a better defensive potential than what the 90s defenses ranked in their era. The 90s were more stacked with the star players in Bruce, Talley, Bennett, Conlan, Jones, .... telling that Bruce was the only HoF from the defense those years. I think we got a more top tier defensive playmakers than the 90's defenses had or at the very least think as a total unit i think we have a better defense than Kelly's teams had. SoCal Deek
The best way to 'guarantee' yourself an easy schedule is to be a small market team, and finish in last place in a crappy Division. That will limit your national TV exposure and set you up with at least six winnable games right out the shoot. (The Bills did two of the three.) It is always tough comparing because we do not know who is a HOF and star plus the teams sucess etc.. But Allen talent wise is above Kelly, but I think Kelly had better play makers. On defense the 90 Bills had Bruce, but the depth and talent of the secondary and Milano/Edmunds pushes the defense now better then the 90s crew. SoCal Deek
I still believe the NFL should adopt the international soccer model and give the entire league the same week off, right in the middle of the season. This is even more critical with the addition of a 17th game. The league's going to learn this the hard way when some of their biggest stars are either beat up or out going into the playoffs. I understand your point, but I'm not sure that's completely true. Most people are still watching all the games through all sorts of streaming options, etc. It's all about eyeballs on screens. I'd be interested to know what the Networks would say about it. Did their contact increase with the extra week? In any event, it would still be better for the TEAM and the PLAYERS to have a single, consolidated bye-week.

The NFL is about maximizing opportunities its product is out there in visible, its why the combine is even a thing now. Shutting down your biggest piece of your product in the height of it's apex is borderline insanity. The NFL does not care about the players otherwise there would be more rest, no TNF or at minimum a more spaced out schedule for it, and 100 other things they do not do. Well I've not seen a single thing that I agree with Goodell on, so my jury is still out on how this longer season works out. At some point you're going to end up with a pile of injured players limping around or sitting out the playoffs. It might be this year. Two of our tougher games, KC and Tenn; games which could have an impact on seeding, are coming up. Forgetting the fact that they are back to back….again…..they also come after games which put us at a schedule disadvantage. 1. We play Wash coming off a mini-bye 2. We play Hou coming off a mini-bye Granted these teams aren’t great but still. 3. And most importantly, the NFL added an extra game to the schedule this year. It involved an inter-conference opponent that was not in the previous formula. Ours is Wash. So not only do we head into KC/Tenn after playing two teams off byes, but we’ve already played our extra game. I’m glad this is week 5/6 rather than say 11/12 but by then maybe KC and Tenn would have played an extra game too. This seems unfair. So instead of Washington as our NFC extra team, you'd rather have the Packers like the Chiefs, the Seahawks like the Steelers, or the Saints for the Titans. Taking into account mini byes is almost impossible and it worked out pretty well for us with the WFT and not exactly scared of the Texans. Lastly, how are the schedulers supposed to know how good a team is the next year? Seriously, The 49ers were in the SB in 2020 and with injuries was an easy defeat even though they had a top 5 defense. You're grasping at something that is not there. Two years ago, did the schedulers know for sure we would go from 10-6 to 13-3 and have the 2nd most scored pts in the league. Sorry bud, but its coincidence. That's all.
