Texans' Deshaun Watson accused of indecent conduct in civil lawsuit; QB denies wrongdoing

interesting that he doesn’t deny Watson had sex with the women. Only that he didn’t force them to have sex.

There’s clearly cell phone and social media evidence he set up massage appointments with all the accusers.  And because of the similarity and sheer number of the accusers his only defense is to say these were consensual encounters.  That defense might spare him criminal charges but hard to see him not paying each of these women millions of dollars.

A lawsuit calls Deshaun Watson a 'serial predator.' 16 lawsuits against him now allege sexual assault

I know that people are innocent until proven guilty. I know there is due process. I try not to jump the gun in rushing to judgements in situations like these. The more allegations come out and the more lawsuits you see though, as well as the statements around them, it's hard to think that this will end well for Deshaun. The more this keeps piling up, the more this could be a career ending scenario. I know some people will laugh at that thought, but when have you EVER seen someone have so many accusers like this where it happens to be an "all's well that ends well" type of scenario? I think the threat of criminal charges are now a real possibility and this could be extremely life altering for Deshaun in his personal as well as professional life.

At end of day going to result in a 10 game suspension that will get reduced to 6 on appeal sometime in 2022.

Let’s go NFL just fast forward to you response already so we can stop hearing about it.

I mean with how that show works with ripped from the headlines episodes we'll probably get this episode at some point.

This seems weak sauce to me.  Since these are all apparently women Watson hired to provide massage services, shouldn't his lawyer already have names and the dates/locations?  How does the lawyer intend to "fully investigate their claims" that information from his client wouldn't enable?

I mean I don't see how they don't get those names at some point, feels like that would be required for any sort of lawsuit to move forward.

Bottom line is no team is dropping two #1s to get this guy

I just can’t see any team trading anything for him right now until the details come out. These are billion dollar businesses and no business wants the main guy representing them with these types of accusations and this number of accusers. Not looking good for him playing football next year or in the near future... Time will tell. Innocent until proven guilty.

There are teams right now attempt to lowball the Texans with miniscule offers to "take Watson off their hands".

I think you underestimate the power of a top level quarterback over feeble minds.

Very true, good point. But if the details start to come out as they are expected to be whichever  team decides to trade for him will deal with the outrage that is coming.... Time will tell, these are very serious allegations by An unbelievable amount of women.... For me everyone should be innocent until

proven guilty... My “gut” Tells me this is guy is guilty....

The ironic thing about all this is that in the beginning, when Watson wanted to leave the Texans, he used the excuse of “social justice” as the reason...and now social justice may be coming down on him...but, I guess, whatever keeps him out of the division...😉

For both legal teams, it's all about controlling the narrative. It looks like Watson slept around and put himself in a bad situation. This seems like the type of thing the general population quickly forgets, though.

Short-lived outrage by the general public, I imagine. And the typical NFL fan probably won't care that he's still playing.

At this point I bet he just keeps his mouth shut and plays football.

It’s really getting out of hand now. This guy really has to be a serial predator... insanity. 20 cases now and up to 24 accusers. Shocked how anyone can blindly defend this guy after 24 accusers...

Tony Buzbee claims four more cases have been filed against Deshaun Watson

Florio thinks Watson should settle all of these cases now. I have to agree with him for once. The number of accusers makes this clearly seem like a pattern and not a joint effort at a money-grab. Watson could very well end up facing criminal charges and incarceration.

Here's another article that claims Watson was already trying to settle these cases, deleting DM's, and whatnot.

Three new lawsuits accusing Deshaun Watson of sexual assault and inappropriate conduct were filed Sunday night, including one that claims the Houston Texans quarterback is deleting Instagram messages and contacting the women "who formally provided him massages, in an attempt to settle" those cases.

Yeah, it's not looking good at the moment. If the women aren't settling, and in it for just the money, then this whole situation begins to look a lot different as well imo.

What a crazy turn for Watson. He was on his way to becoming a poster boy for the NFL. Now, I'm not sure he suits up this season

I agree, even if he does play this season, I guarantee he plays distracted the whole season. No way would all this not be on his mind IF he does suit up

I'm not sure if he suits up ever again after this. If he does I think it may be two or three years down the line. At some point in the next month or two Goodell will put him on the exempt list, prior to TC.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the "Commissioner's Exempt List" kinda like the "Screw the Team that's got the player under contract" list ie, that player still gets paid and still counts against the cap?

Evidently you're right. I didn't think players were getting paid while on the list, but I guess they do.

Yes, but I think it's just the precursor to the league suspension in this instance.

the goofiest thing is watson could have just paid for these scenarios to happen.  he could get some kind of wrangler to set it up so it seemed legit or whatever his particular paraphilia is, and not hurt these women nor mess up his once shining future.  what a sick freak.

I think he will. Like you said, 2 or 3 yrs... maybe less, however long it takes to clear up.

OK, this is

-from a woman who was contacted by SI (she didn't contact them) BEFORE learning she had worked with Watson

-she is NOT part of Buzbee's suit and in fact, when she contacted him after his request to talk to massage therapists who had worked with Watson, she declined to sign up with him
-to me, it's notable that Watson reached out to her through her own business page (vs the business that referred him initially) and when she made it clear she would only work with him if he covered with a sheet and behaved "professionally", that ended his interest in booking.

Quote

She told SI she is sharing a public testimony, her account of Watson’s behavior, with the hope of preventing this from happening to any other professionals in her industry. In an effort to corroborate Mary’s account, SI reviewed text and social media messages, and interviewed a family member Mary spoke to in the immediate aftermath of the session—that family member’s account was consistent with Mary’s.

Quote

Moreover, Watson’s blanket denial of ever treating women with disrespect helped spur Mary to speak up and lend her voice as a witness.

“More than anything, the fact that he’s denying all the allegations makes it more of a reason for us to use our voice and say what we have to say,” she says.

Yeah, if I had a story like that or a family member had a story like that and I'd just kind of let it go and moved on from it,  I'd be pissed off to have the person involved be denying everything, and that would motivate me to come forward or urge them to come forward.

The best I can say is 1) gross 2) damned weird way of defining "never treated a woman with anything but the utmost respect" by Watson.  Bet that's not what he'd think if that was a female relative of his, or his girlfriend.
