John from Riverside
I am not talking about because of injury....I mean when everyone is healthy. I was REALLY impressed with Dodson first half of this game......what do ppl think of starting him over Klien when Edmunds and Milano come back. Myself....and its extremely early.....but I am scouting 1st round LB's at the will position in this next year's draft.
Not at the table Karlos
I have not been impressed with Klein so far. Dodson is faster and has made the bigger plays. Both need to work on coverage besides Dodson’s near pick.
UConn James
After Milano’s most recent injury here, I’m not nuts about him re-signing for $13-15M/year when he’s unavailable. If Dodson proves he can fill the spot.... Injuries happen, especially to LBs. But I think we can probably replace and maybe upgrade his spot via the draft. There’s only so much to go around and Dawkins & Tre inked and Josh and Edmunds are due soon. Choices have to be made. LeGOATski
I thought he looked good. It's still early, though. I don't think he's won any spots. Pretty much a wash between him and Klein. 2 minutes ago, UConn James said: After Milano’s most recent injury here, I’m not nuts about him re-signing for $13-15M/year when he’s unavailable. At this point Milano is clear starter material and a playmaker in this defense. And I think he loves the Bills. If they can get a reasonable deal done, I think he and Edmunds are a very valuable pairing.
Rc2catch
I think Klein is takin a little too much beating here. He is who he is, this is what they signed. Good work ethic, good instincts, good football player. We are very spoiled seeing Edmunds and Milano out there and the speed they bring, Klein ain’t never been fast. We don’t generally have use for 3 starting caliber linebackers given the nickel so Klein was a smart signing since he’s a vet and can help out when needed at basically all 3 spots. If Milano is staying they’ll just continue to invest some draft capital on backups, if not we’d obviously need to hit on a free agent or higher draft pick to replace Milano.

Johnny Hammersticks
Sure, competition is good and Dodson has proven (IMO) that he should get a shot to compete with Klein. Maybe share snaps and see who comes out on top?

Both looked strong in run support, but obviously don't have the same range as Edmunds and Milano. I'm not saying you're wrong, just saying you're not right yet. I don't think he's earned anything after this one game and the starters will likely be back this week.

TroutDog
Personally, I thought he was much hungrier than Klein. May be because he’s a UDFA...either way, I liked it given the situation.
JohnNord
I think we need to see more from Dodson. I was listening to one of the Bills reporters post game. They thought that Dodson’s plays at first glance might look better than it will when watching the game film. The middle of the field was open a lot and you have to put that on the LB’s. I think he shows potential but I need to see more

Jpsredemption
Maybe we should wait for a game when the defense shuts somebody down and Dodson plays a starting role. Not a game where they were carved up by Ryan Fitzpatrick repeatedly over the middle of the field.

Brianmoorman4jesus
I was really worried about the LBs going into yesterday’s game. It was like borderline consuming me. When the game started I just fell into watching the ball and didn’t pay a ton of attention. Obviously the offense and issues with the broadcast and lightning stole the show. I didn’t really notice Dodson flashing. I can’t say that I noticed him being a liability but the defense sucked. They escaped with a win (and that’s all that matters) but I certainly wasn’t overly impressed with anything about the defense.
auburnbillsbacker
Dodson struggled at times which is completely understandable considering his inexperience. I hope he learns from the bench once the starters return.

Kmart128
I dont think we have lined up in many 3 LB formations anyways. Klein really only comes in on obvious run stopping situations for Taron Johnson. Which is the way it should be.
Rocky Landing
As soon as we signed Klein, I went to Game Pass and watched the two Saints games where Klein had the biggest statistical impact v. Tennessee, and Seattle. I thought he looked low-motor, and seemed slow to the ball, especially compared to someone like Milano. Too many plays he would wait for the play to come to him. I know a lot of Saints fans liked him, and his reputation was as a run-stuffer. But, I didn't particularly see it, and I felt we would be disappointed in him, if that was the way he played here. I know that two, fairly random games is not much of a sample size to draw an opinion, but I feel like I'm seeing the same player in a Bills uniform. He tackles well when he's close enough to the action, but I don't see him getting after it the way Milano, Edmunds, and Lorax did last year. I don't know if Dodson is as good a tackler as Klein, but I do think he is faster. We'll see, and honestly, I trust McD, and Frazier over my amateur observations.
Brianmoorman4jesus
I would be trying to somehow get 15-20lbs on Dean Marlowe. He isn’t going to play over Hyde or Poyer but he could be a dynamic LB. he only needs to put on 15 or 20 to get to where some of the smaller LBs play. He would have exceptional speed and coverage abilities for a LB. He could have the makings of an interesting WLB option IMO.
Ethan in Cleveland
Base defense is a 4-2-5. There is rarely a third linebacker on the field. So far neither opponent has been able to run the ball against the Bills nickel. Dodson has no place to start if Milano is healthy. But he might rotate into the game for a few plays. CEN-CAL17
Dodson should see the field more.... definitely faster with more playmaker ability.... like to see him take over for Klein.
