Hopkins to ARZ

There are 2 possibilities that would make me okay with this:

1) We are trading for OBJ

2) We already have an agreement in place to move up for Ceedee Lamb/Jerry Jeudy on draft night

If not I will be sick that we didn't end up with Hopkins.

A few items- every crazy Texan trade has been to an NFC team I believe or the Browns. Why would you want OBJ who has been a problem for every team he has been on?  your point is very vaild.

Not sure how you can blame our FO.  We have no idea if we tried for one.  And second, why would they send Hopkins to the very team they just faced in the playoffs and barely beat? I mean we are a direct threat to them and really widely seen as missing a top end WR opposite Brown to take an even bigger step.

Just because a guy is available doesnt mean they are willing to send to any team.

Good points...

There is sentiment that, since the deal cant be finalized until Wed, there is a chance the deal could be reworked/axed all together.

that wouldn't look good if both teams agreed to the deal. Wouldn't be able to trust the texans anymore

No one mentions they are not paying johnson’s salary?  Thats the main piece for then, he is free salary wise, arizona is paying it.

That's because the Cardinals aren't paying Johnson's salary.  The Texans are according to reports which makes this deal even more laughable.

Why the F not? Best  WR in the league and they have a stud QB that needs that weapon. Houston wont make the playoffs next year. they are done. Makes no sense. Just wished Bill Obrien traded him to us.

Hum...not what WGR is saying.  But i see schefter is saying you are correct and i certainly trust him more!  In that case, insanity for sure!

I'd take Jussie Smollett's word over WGR.

How were the Bills not  wasn't EVERY OTHER NFL TEAM in on this? Based on what HOU got I would think we could have gotten a deal done for a 2nd this year. Maybe needed to throw in an additional 3rd or 4th in 2021. Ugghh

Fixed.

I'd imagine Beane would of tossed out an offer but I highly doubt BoB wanted to trade in the Conference with the team they barely got past in the playoffs.

I don't think the relationship problem would of mattered seeing as we wanted AB last year.

Hell, maybe BoB feared Gainey's knowledge being able to fleece him lol.

I would've gave them pick 22

Me too...but I suspect that they were not interested in sending him to Buffalo who they just faced in playoffs and barely beat.  And giving us a major upgrade at an area where most feel an upgrade helps us take an even bigger step forward in the AFC was not something they were into.  We are a direct threat to them right now in terms of where we rank in the AFC overall, and Hopkins would have easily put us ahead of them between them losing him and us getting him and filling a major hole with an elite player.

He gave Miami two first round picks last year.  Remember that you're dealing with an idiot who would absolutely trade within his own conference.

I can't believe that this trade got shopped around by the Texans and a team like Buffalo wouldn't beat it.  It has to be that he would not trade him to the AFC.  I must force myself to believe this.

Or Hou wanted a player and we don't have a guy they want

Frank Gore is worth about a 2025 7th rounder

And yet Minnesota is in talks with Seattle for Diggs..... I think Beane didn’t want to up the ante for him, they love their draft picks and have proven to be a conservative group which only gets you so far, hopefully they prove me wrong and find a way to get a good veteran receiver in here, but man, Hopkins is another level.

I'm of the opinion that if you want to develop a young QB, it's critical to get him excellent receiving help.  The Cards did that.

Then as the QB develops he can do more with less.

WR is the most difficult position to fill with top end talent outside of QB.  We must land one of these WR's and also draft one.
