Perhaps this is a sign that the Bills are finally figuring out "who they are" on offense and creating an identity -- or it's just the personnel grouping that they felt worked best against Miami. In either case, 37 pts and 400+ of offense is nothing to sneeze at. 1. The Bills didn’t use their “heavy” offensive package much. Blocking tight end Lee Smith played a season-low seven snaps (10%), while fullback Patrick DiMarco was on the field for just four snaps (6%). I'm not very worried about the offense finding an identity. I AM, however, all about identifying wastes of space on the roster. These two are that. TigerJ
Josh Allen did say that he's more comfortable with no huddle. I think it was a post game comment to Sal Cappacio that I heard. Allen also thought that might be the direction the offense is moving toward. That in itself doesn't necessarily mean Buffalo will abandon a heavy personnel package. What it does mean is that there would not be much play by play substitution. What you see is what you'll get personnel wise. Overall, I think the 11 personnel package (3 WRs, 1 TE, 1RB) is probably more versatile than a heavy package. Buffalo also used Kroft and Knox together some on Sunday - not so much Smith and Knox. Virgil
Personally, I hope to see a lot of DiMarco against the Broncos. Not so much Lee Smith. I trust DiMarco in the backfield, or lined up next to Ford to help chip and keep Von Miller off of Allen.

I understood the need for McBeane to bring in "Process" guys like DiMarco, Star, and Lee Smith, to help the transition of FO and get buy-in from players. But now that things are catching on and our young guys like Allen and Edmunds are stepping up to lead the team, it's time to work those dudes (mostly PD and LS) out of the game plans. Hopefully this staff doesnt fall into the same trap as many of our past staffs, which is: make these changes (more aggressive game plan on O and D) for one game, have it work well in that game, and then fall back to the old ways and lose. 5 minutes ago, Virgil said: Personally, I hope to see a lot of DiMarco against the Broncos. Freddie's Dead
The less we see Lee Smith and breasts on a Bull, the better. These guys set the Bills offense back to the '80s. Think Mark Brammer and Carlester Crumpler.

That said, Daboll's O is hugely different each week, and has been as you know, ineffective. So I think it's OK to hope that he can find some things that start to work instead of instituting wholesale changes week to week.
Flip Johnson
I loved the 11 personnel against Miami, but it will be fascinating to see how they attack Denver. Ford is going to need some help, so we may Smith or Kroft or Gore playing more to help chip Miller or whoever is matched up against Ford. Or the Bills may take their chances and try to play up tempo, stick with 3WR, and tire the Broncos pass rush out.

I will be happy when I see something consistently working. It would not shock me to see DiMarco out wide this week again and Lee Smith getting his 3 penalties. Also, our lack of a screen game will hurt us down the stretch.

WideNine
I am usually not the sentamental type, but Gore carried this team when we did not have a deep bench at RB this year and at times was the only real spark. He is still a good back to have back there in pass-pro, and although teams have been getting to his feet with well executed run blitzes, I think he still has a role to play. Reduce his touches so he can keep his legs a bit fresher for those short yardage situations between the tackles when they call his number. Don't use him on stretch plays that require more cutback, change of direction, and burst ability, but let him spell the kid when needed. That is the balance I hope they continue to leverage. It’s just going to be one of those things we never actually get to find out though because Dabol is obsessed with wasting touches on a guy that’s 5+ years past his prime. It’s not even about Yeldon as much as it is about not continuously giving the ball to Gore. This has a chance to be a really special season and Gore served his purpose. He got us through some tough times and helped up bring along Singletary. But now it’s time to get serious and for the last month it’s clear Gores legs are shot. It’s time to try and take advantage of this season and get some fresh legs to go with Singletary. Bring back Murphy I don’t care. It just has to stop being Gore. You don’t have to cut the guy. Keep him around and give him 2 or 3 touches a game. But he gets the ball way, way to much. He’s done. I like this idea. Give Gore the week off and let Yeldon play. Especially with a short week coming up, Gore can use all the rest he can get. Yeldon has had plenty of rest, and I feel we are wasting a roster spot by not having him play more.
