Doc Brown
So, essentially we gave up a 5th and a 7th in return for a 5th and a 6th. That's the most Billsian Brownsian trade ever.

Also this is the same GM who provided the 1st pick in the 3rd rd for Tyrod Taylor the same year he was drafting a QB #1 overall. Browns also sit at 17th on the waiver wire. It’s unlikely that Teller would have made it to them there. Edited August 29, 2019 by BarleyNY

C.Biscuit97
This dude got overrated the second he was drafted. Seems like decent value but I don’t really watch oline men. Can someone who does tell me if he was starter material?

Starter Material seems like a relative term in the NFL in general, and specifically in regards to the OL these days... That being said, I thought he showed some good stuff, but he was meh at other times- that's mostly from other takes/what little i did watch. I think this trade could indicate that they like Boetgoer better, which I find interesting and really not surprising as he has seemed solid at times (not to mention the flexibility he showed playing center)

He wasn’t going to start for this team, he would have been a decent backup, but Bates came in, played awesome, and can play all positions on the line. I’m assuming they may have tried to put him on the practice squad, but he would have almost certainly got picked up on waivers; hence, they got value for him.
Virgil
Dooooommmmed! But seriously, if they are only going to carry 8 lineman and he couldn’t play multiple positions, this is good value. Anyone drafted after round 3 is subject to these trades. Be more afraid for the Browns who have to start one of our cast off lineman

Bodine if cut is a free agent and not subject to waivers so he is a tougher trade. I still think a 7th or a 6th can be had from a team if there are a couple looking for a center. skibum
Seems like a solid trade for both sides. Cleveland fills a need with a competent player at a reasonable price, while the Bills gain a pick without compromising the roster - plus they avoid getting bupkis when Teller, or whichever bubble guy they would have cut, goes free. I would also say Beane did the Browns a solid on this one (their O-line is shaky), which may one day be repaid in kind. Classy move. Fixxxer
Finding OL that can play in this league is not an easy task, that's why I initially don't like this trade. We determined that we had some other guys who would make the team ahead of him, so instead of waiting to cutdown and getting nothing, we found a willing partner and got a 5th and 6th which will go in the bucket of trade ammo for next year. We gave up a 7th the following year, which some will say is like one round less.....so like UDFA, but still a pick and owning his rights.. I liked Teller more than most. If they think we have better guys, I’ll trust them Time will tell.

I really question this simply because he graded as the Bills best linemen in the last half of the 2018 season. He had the fewest penalties (5) and didn't allow a sack! Only allowed 8 pressures on 476 snaps. I really liked the kids tenacity and toughness. Granted that line stunk... he had a better grade then Dion Dawkins. Perhaps others were probably more versatile at this point to let him go. The Browns are looking to start him at right guard. We"ll see at the end of the season as I hope Beane didn't get some bad advice from his offensive coaches.
