I think it's been brought up here before that stats don't tell the story for DL and especially for DTs.  It's pretty apparent for people who watch him carefully that he's lost a step both in ability to stuff guys and ability to pursue and penetrate.  He's still very good, don't get me wrong, and he's looking better this year for the people around him.

Everyone loves him and he was a very good longtime Bill but it won’t really matter either way. We have good interior guys behind him that are younger, cheaper and better against the run. The Bills FO probably hopes he doesn’t want to play because im sure they want to see 99 and I’m sure they don’t want to be the reason Kyle isn’t back.

Kyle would probably die on the field if you let him. If he comes back, i could see it in a limited role behind the Phillips brothers, playing a limited amount of snaps and providing veteran leadership. I hope he plays forever

I couldn’t agree more that stats don’t tell the story, especially for DTs. That’s why I asked the question: how is a fall off in play manifesting itself in KW’s game? Is he weaker at the POA? Is he losing the leverage battles more frequently? I just don’t detect much of a fall off, if any at all.

I don't see why not. His play isn't decaying too bad and he's a perfect fit for the defense. Plus, gives another year for Harrison Phillips to develop.

 

I'd imagine he'd want to try for 1 more post season go. A 1 year deal sounds about right.

I'd love to see him & Lorenzo Alexander come back.

 

They are both leaders, team captains and while they don't play every down they do being a positive impact to their game.

 

That and they won't cost a lot to keep around.

I love Meatball and watching him play,he exceeded all expectations for a 5th round pick.

 

That said I hope he hangs up the cleats at the end of the year.

 

They preserve his body by giving him  lots of off days and only 1 or 2 practices a week.

 

I want him to leave the game on his terms and I think it will be at the end of this season.

Yes. He started one more year to tutor younger players like Harrison Phillips. They will take over next year.

There is a reason they need to run it 30x a game now.  They always could do that but didnt bc of Brady.  But Brady is losing it.  Not the same QB he was last season.

I am not sure Kyle comes back. I can see him taking another 1 year deal esp if he feels the team can be special in 2019. But in the end i think the deal will come down to how he feels physically and mentally. Kyle will get a solid 1 year offer if he wants to play.I think money or the team's future is the deciding factor

I think you're almost certainly wrong. 

 

McDermott has had our DL on a pretty serious rotation with Star, the Phillips twins, Kyle and Shaq on occasion.

 

Yet, Kyle is constantly getting sacks, pressures and tackles for losses.

 

And he's the friggin heart and soul of this team.

 

How old are you?

 

I get the sense you don't really know much about football or haven't watched this team much...

I want him to come back and be on a team that wins in the playoffs, but honestly we're a couple years away from that. Last year was a tease and it sucked Kyle into believing the coach was special. I think he retires and there's no shame there.

He's on a one year deal this year.  His long-term contract expired at the end of 2017.  This quote from an interview with Vic Carucci (last month after the loss to the Texans) kinda says it all...This is a player that goes on the wall the year after he decides to hang it up....

He is the kind of a guy who IF his heart is into it and he honestly thinks his body can go another year

the team could trust him on it.

 

They got 5 million to keep him as a leader/mentor for another year if that's what HE wants.

I just meant that his body has been through hell. There is no more physically demanding position is all of sports....with the exception of a pure nose tackle.
