Big Turk
I thought he played OK...obviously some mistakes but made a few nice athletic pass breakups...Dodson played mostly Ok as well too. Likely we are going to see a platoon between them.

They were going with three lbs for tactical reasons, I think, not to save Johnson. And yes, in plays I noticed Williams more than Dotson. Flies around is right. But Dotson as quick, too. Just less instinctive, I think.

He immediately got juked by Caleb Williams and whiffed on a tackle. I turned the game off. Yesterday I saw the same thing. I don’t know what the Bills were thinking with this draft pick. He plays faster than his mind thinks. Hopefully he can learn to control it. I’ll compare him to another Bills LB. Nigel Bradham. Also flew around playing faster than his mind could handle. He learned to control it and become a solid NFL linebacker. Come on, no disrespect but that isn't fair due diligence. You intentionally watched a game where he reportedly had a big one but immediately turned it off because you didn't like what happened on one play? That feels more like you were looking for confirmation bias of your skepticism than actually trying to watch the game and see what his potential might be. 1

A lot of tackles after decent gains. No confirmation on anything. I saw 1 game in college and 1 game in the NFL. He was out of control and had a bad missed tackle in both. Doesn’t mean anything really.

RG Murdock
Everyone loves Milano, but face it, he just can't consistantly stay on the field. He misses games EVERY year. This injury souns brutal. Next man up sounds hollow. Dorian looks promising, and remember Milano was a 5th round pick, and looked like a steal almost immediately. Coach Babich is noted as one of the best LB coaches out there. We have no choice but to just see how this plays out. Bills will still be favored in everyone of the next 6 games.

I hope they use Williams more once he gets a full week of practice with the 1's, dodson just doesn't have it to play will.

Milano didn’t look like an immediate steal. There were even reports out of camp saying fellow rookie Tanner Vallejo was having a more noticeable impact. Ramon Humber also started in front of Milano and Matt didn’t get his shot until Humber was later injured. Of course we know he took control of the position and never let go. Williams definitely flashes more than Dodson and is certainly the more athletic player, so I’d be willing to take the lumps of him learning on the job, but I’m not so sure McD is willing. Dodson out snapped Dorian, shades of Ramon Humber.
Success
Ya know, it may just be that McD knows how to get the best out of defensive players. Milano is obviously a great player. But he's just one of quite a few mid-to-late round players that have excelled here. Benford may be our best starting CB right now. Bernard is playing great. Wasn't Dane Jackson a 7th rounder? William's won't be at Milano's level - but he doesn't need to. He needs to play solid, disciplined football.
SCBills
We need Dorian Williams to be the answer. I don't expect him to be amazing right away. I do expect a learning curve. But this team NEEDS to take a page from the KC playbook and let young guys develop over the course of the season. We know what Dodson is. He's a backup. We drafted Williams in RD3 for a reason. Given we lose Milano in Week 5, by the end of the season, Williams will no longer be a "rookie". Unless he's Elam levels of unplayable out there, we need to let him learn on the job. I will be pretty disgusted if Dodson is out there next to Bernard. That's just accepting a major downgrade at LB, whereas the development of Dorian Williams over the course of the season could lessen the impact felt.

TheBrownBear
I saw him in on a lot of plays early. While not great, I thought he was generally reading and filling well enough. Then he sort of disappeared. Next thing I knew, I was seeing a lot of Dodson in the fourth quarter turning his head as Etienne ran by him. I'd much rather watch Williams take some lumps out there than seeing Dodson do mostly nothing. But I'm not the coach.

He'll get his chance. Think the kid will be fine he has some good read and react instincts. It will be interesting to see him and Bernard flying around out there. Not saying he’s even close to Milano’s level bc that would be blasphemy, but he showed some a lot of promise which was ultimately forgotten about bc of the big fat L we took.
