Are the Dolphins obviously better than the Bills?

Before I go into this, I want to defend Simms and Florio for a minute. Unlike the talking heads on ESPN and FS1, they don't spout things just for shock or clicks. If you disagree, I encourage you to actually watch PFT every day instead of piling on because it's cool to hate Florio like it's cool to hate Nickelback.

With that out of the way, Simms and Florio said on PFT this morning that the Dolphins have a top-3 roster in the NFL and are the best team on paper in the AFC East, supplanting the Bills. Simms said a position-by-position analysis, outside of QB, would be a landslide in favor of the Dolphins.

Do you agree? Why or why not? I'll admit that I was slightly puzzled by the comments, because I think I disagree.

QB: Bills

OL: Bills, right?

RB: Tie? I actually like the Bills' room better.

WR: Dolphins? They have elite talent, but I think the Bills have better overall depth.

TE: Bills

DL: Dolphins, but it's close

LB: Dolphins

CB: Dolphins, probably, if Ramsey is behind included, but it's close again

S: Bills?

Specialists: Tie?

Is that a Dolphins landslide? I don't think so.

I would give the Bills the edge at QB, TE, and probably S. That's about it. The rest are either pretty close, or in the Dolphins favor. Overall I'd say the Dolphins roster is confidently better. Not a landslide, though, especially because of the bonus advantage we have with Josh.

Thus here.  I can care less what the national opinion is about the team I love.  Plus it's easy to lose the edge if you buy into all the hype.  I will enjoy seeing the Dolphins melt down as payback for the heat melt down the Bills suffered last season.

Lot's of question marks and "ifs" in your OP response. The biggest "if" is IF Tua stays in for their season, the Phins are a much better team than the Bills.

They are faster, their offense runs a lot of motion and interesting plays. That is O coaching which they are better. All around, I'd say they have a stronger team. Again, this is with Tua.

If Tua didn't miss all those games last year including our playoff tilt - they beat us. I love the Bills but the Phins are gonna be tough this year!

I think the Dolphins may have better top of the roster talent. However they appear to lack depth at a lot of positions.

On the other hand, the Bills may lack that true top end talent outside the obvious guys, however seem to be much deeper in depth to me.

Over the course of a season, injuries happen. Guys miss time. I'll take Buffalo's top 53 over Miami's for a 17 game seasons. I think we have a much better shot at sustaining wins while key players are out (see last year).

The one thing I’d like is for the Bills to get faster. WR and TE are probably fine, but the most glaring lack of speed is in the secondary. And maybe on the edges at DE (without a healthy Von factored in). Dolphins have one of the fastest teams in the league.

Looking back at the games last year. The Bills deserved to win in Miami. They went up and down the field all day but just couldn't finish drives. Miami deserved to win in Buffalo as I thought they had the better of the play most of the night. The playoff game looked like it was going to be a Bills blowout until the Bills got sloppy and turned the ball over. Credit the Dolphins for coming back and making it a game with a scrub at QB. I expect the games will be close again this year. I am more worried about the Jets then I am the Fins.

At the end of the day they still have a coach in year two and an iffy quarterback situation. They can 100% all click and Tua stay healthy and be one of the top teams if everything falls perfectly in place. They have potential to be good. But I’m not taking an unproven roster with iffy players like Tua and Chubb over a team that’s at least been consistently a top regular season team for a few years now. I can see why people love their roster though, some nice young pieces and some flashy big name players.

The Dolphins QB has a lot of spinal issues, ours only has a bad elbow on his throwing arm.

Both teams are playing in Europe this fall, the Dolphins go there as a visitor and play the Chiefs on a neutral field where the Bills sold a home game to London and play the Jaguars in their future home city... The Bills of course play the Chiefs in KC every year.

I think it'll come down to 1 game between these two teams to win the AFC East.

The one thing we got to take into account is the aging of the Bills roster. On paper the names look great but we got a lot of our stars starting to age we will see if that makes a difference or not this yr.
