[Vague Title] Let's Not Forget...

We beat Kansas City in the regular season in Arrowhead the last 2 times we faced them...A few lucky bounces and that could have been us. If 13 seconds didn't happen Bills win Superbowl last year. The "what ifs" could go on and on and on but we're not far away as many on here think. The NFL is a game of bounces and getting a little lucky on any given Sunday. The Chiefs got lucky with that INT TD, that terrible penalty, and several others plays throughout the game.

If we don't improve our O line and get some more weapons for Josh, Cincy showed us where this team's peak is and will continue to be.

The coaching problem is the one I'm most concerned with.

We're not doing the best that we can in the playoffs with the talent that we do have.  That's a coaching issue.

You can win alot of regular season games with just talent.  But once the playoffs hit you also must have great coaching,  strategy,  adjustments etc.  And therein lies our deficiencies.

My eyes see a Bills team descending while other teams like Miami and the are Jags ascending.

My eyes saw a Burrow led Cinci team destroy the Bills. I don't know how one could think the Bills are a better team.

The upcoming season is going to be very challenging. I think we fans should be focused on making the playoffs. That might be a big challenge. Bills Super Bowl talk should be squashed.

Luck has more to do with it than most people want to admit. Last night was an example. There was nothing between those two teams. There were a few close calls in the game that could have gone either way. The one at the end was ridiculously soft. Who knows what happens if Hurts gets the ball back? Sometimes as a former UK Prime Minister said last summer "them's the breaks".

The Bills are not far away. They need their players back healthy and better injury luck next year. They need some upgrades - especially up front - and they need their bit of luck at some stage.

Of course many factors are in play throughout a full season of football.

However, great teams with great coaches usually prevail. (Something the Bills aren't.) That's exactly what you saw tonight. You can't tell me with reasonable confidence that you thought Philly was going to win that game midway through that 4th quarter. I remember telling my son the Chiefs are going to win the game. I said it with confidence because Mahomes and Reid are just too good. That's what the greats do. Win anyway they can. Create your own luck sort of speak. Think Brady and Belicheck. Certainly it's not Allen and McD...

Winning teams can overcome injuries, have unexpected players step up, and almost always find a way to win. That's KC to a T for several years. No way can you say the same about the Bills organization. To their credit they built up a losing organization and have produced a nice playoff team. A Super Bowl seems more like a fantasy than a reality.

The Bills are not a Super Bowl caliber team. Cinci destroyed the Bills and Miami had every chance to beat them with a terrible 3rd string QB. The Bills aren't that far away scenario is just hogwash. That Cinci thrashing illustrates that the Bills are indeed far away. The struggles with a Miami team indicates they will be serious contenders for the division.

The Bills are deficient at WR, both sides of the lines, and overmatched in the coaching arena. They have failed to address the coaching concerns which is beyond perplexing. Bills will roll out basically the same D and O which has been a constant theme of playoff losses. What a great idea...Not that far off my butt!

The Bills have little room to address both sides of the line and the WR position. Safety and RB positions are also areas that may need to be addressed. Their cap space doesn't allow much room for new blood. Beane has squandered the opportunity to successfully upgrade needed positions to make a realistic Super Bowl run. The time for him to work his magic was when Allen was on his rookie contract. Frankly, he blew it badly.

Now, the Bills are backed into a corner. The organization has to hope players don't get hurt, players miraculously get better, hope the coaches see the light, and Allen has a shiny new cape. Maybe that's what you mean by luck? As a Bills diehard fan I don't feel great about this upcoming season.

My eyes see a Bills team that will likely fall short again. Early exit from the playoffs again. I will continue to think this until real change occurs in the organization. Playing it back with these coaches is safe. Gives the Bills a nice chance to get a playoff birth. If that's what you seem as success or being close then so be it. I want more!

I thought Kansas City would win before the game. I thought they'd win pretty much throughout. The Bills certainly have some work to do.... but I said it the other day they actually remind me a lot of where the Chiefs were two years ago when they were obliterated by the Buccs in the Superbowl (okay our obliteration came two rounds earlier, but the reasons, and the scale were similar). The Chiefs at that point had paid their QB, they were very tight to the cap, their offensive line was atrocious, their complimentary receivers (i.e. aside from Hill and Kelce) were struggling to make an impact and they had issues in the secondary.

Fast forward two years and 15 new players started in that Superbowl. I reckon they have upgraded 12 of them, pretty much replaced like for like in two and downgraded at just one spot. It is a hell of a job by Brett Veach. But it shows it can be done.

Chiefs win Superbowls, we don't even get there. Just face facts. You need luck to win Championships.

Slight regression coming our way next season, almost for sure.

Will be surprised if we hit our win total and playoff "success" achieved this year.

They still had to go and score TDs in three straight drives in the 2nd half.  Give them credit.

this is why I say stick to the process of upgrading the roster every year, don't get into cap trouble with any particular player, scout and draft well and expect to have FA departures (eg. Edmunds, Poyer) replaced by solid draft choices ... one year the bounces and injuries will go your way .  Either team could have easily won that game and it turns out the refs won it.   So just take care of your own business and you'll get through the tournament one year or more.

I think now that this season is over, I'm over all of it. Meaning, I'm over that the bills failed this season and left alot of question marks. It's the same for every team right now. Everyone is 0-0. September is a new season, and let's hope beane and McDermott do the right things this off season

That this benign and completely correct take has so many negative reacts shows how ridiculous this board has become.

I wish I could share in your optimism.

But 20 unrestricted free agents combined with our our unhealthy salary cap, it's going to take some miraculous front office management to keep from going backward.

I can, but maybe will make 2023 a little easier as I certainly thought 2021 & 2022 that the Bills were the best team (especially after the Bills dominated KC in the regular season in 2021).

So close yet so far away! I know on face value it seems that we’re close but actually we are very far there’s some key ingredients missing. Ingredients I don’t believe this admin is capable of delivering.

Just texting with a friend of mine, we wouldn't at all be surprised if we didn't even win the division.  We're set to regress some.

I believe there is also a quote about luck by Thomas Jefferson to the effect of: those who work the hardest (in the NFL, that would be having the best players and coaches) get the most luck.   Last night the Eagles D in the second half played basically our D, and the results were predictable.

Our roster is not complete, and we have missed on impact players to put around JA and to rush the other QB in the draft, and as another poster indicated, we do not get the most out of our talent with our playoff coaching (playing soft zone with Elam as a CB, etc.).

Luck plays a part, but far from the determining factor.

At some point there needs to be some level of acceptance. In Allen’s hype year, Mahomes goes out and wins another MVP and championship. The Bills aren’t close to KC.

Bingo.  We have missed on key draft picks (Oliver, AJ, Boogie, Groot-great #2 DE, not a guy you take at 19), and are in a bad cap situation.    KC lost its top WR, brought in a bunch of actual #2 WRs (didn't simply "hope" that a guy with 3 good games would sustain an entire season like that), a playmaker WR on a rookie contract, and drafted well at OL and LB (Humphrey and Bolton).

How do you know we beat both Bengals and Rams,  but if your not going to forget then you need to highlight why we lost in KC.  We lost because out HC and DC choked with 13 secs left and you don't get do overs.  How times has Frazier's defences cost this Bills team in the playoffs and how many times do we listen to Sean saying will learn from this but never fires Frazier

I absolutely hate the "what if's". The Bills lost in the divisional rounds, they weren't 13 seconds away from winning the Super Bowl. There was another 2 hours of play after that to crown a champion.

I am a firm believer that in order to get better you need to an honest inventory of the situation and 13 seconds away from a Lombardi is far far from that. I understand that we are fans, not employees or players. But it is something I whole heartedly subscribe to.

Yea. Nice quote. Isn't always true.

nothing's "always" true, but in this case, the quote is vastly more true than not.  KC and Philly both have better rosters, GMs, and coaches.  KC didn't luck it's way into 2 wins in the past 4 years.

Newer Bills fans are spoiled those of us that remember the lean years of trying to talk Kyle Orton out of retirement are enjoying the ride.
There is legit criticism that is deserved of this front office and how this roster is constructed. It isn’t just the board saying it. It is people like Greg Cosell, Rich Eisen, and Chris Simms who all love Josh Allen that are saying it.
