ColoradoBills
I see the OJ Howard cut and cap hit this way. If they kept Howard, it costs $255k more than if they cut him. They want Morris over Howard, and it works out like this. Morris costs $705k $705k - $255k = $450k The bottom line is Howard did not look good and it's a "cut your losses" now instead of him taking up the roster spot and not playing well. $405k more to keep Morris over Howard in the sense of keeping a better player (who is cost controlled next year too at $870k) is not horrible to me. Beane had a swing and a miss but no sense doubling down on poor play for the money. I too thought OJ would be much better than how showed. 3 4

Does the order of the so far announced cuts (stating they are hopefully to be added to the practice squad if not signed elsewhere) does that have any relevance? Are they releasing said hope to be practice squaded players early for a reason? No. The information on cuts right now isn't coming from the Bills, but from the player's agents as recounted to national guys like Schefter etc, or from local guys like Ryan Talbot who with his brother Damond Talbot has some connections especially with the small school, UDFA players. The difference you're seeing between "hope to sign him to the practice squad" is whether the news comes from a national reporter with strong agent connections (like Schefter or Rapaport) or a local reporter with player connections (like Talbot)
BillsFanSD
Slightly disappointed that Hodgins never developed into anything more than just a body who fills out a team's WR room. It would be nice if we could get him on the PS, but if the Giants pick him up I'm sure not going to lose any sleep over it.

He didn't look good in preseason and there wasn't a lot of positive talk about him during camp. I was for the signing, but it just ended up being a miss. The flip side is, if he was kept and played bad fans would criticize Beane for keeping him because of the cap money.
