eball
Thought both of these guys really helped themselves last night. I just re-watched the condensed version of the game (I was there live last night) and Lacey was all over the place. Beautiful sack and FF for Johnson also.
TPS
Johnson will be an interesting decision, as will Be LDE in general. Love vs Johnson. I think Yarbrough has backed up Jerry previously, but Shaw is there now. Johnson may force them to keep 5 DE, Love being the 8th. The DTs are set. You don’t cut a rookie DE you drafted that’s producing like he is. Zero chance he clears waivers. 5

BillsFan17
Yarborough has done absolutely nothing with his opportunities, why we would assume his roster spot is a lock.... DJ absolutely makes this football team.

Cheektowaga Chad
Right now you have to keep Johnson. Playing too well not to. Plus he played linebacker in college and could be a back up to Alexander

whatdrought
I have thought for some time that Johnson might develop into a good player for us. people forget that while McD was a DB whispered in Carolina, he also got a lot of good production out of defensive linemen who were “nobodies”

RocCityRoller
Johnson has torn up 3rd and 4th string OL. I'd like to see him versus 1st and 2nd string OL. We know what we have in Lawson and Yarborough. Love is also showing well. Hughes, Murphey and Lawson are top 3. Crowded for 1 spot between Yarborough, Love, Johnson. folz
Yes, I think they keep 5 DEs with Love and Johnson getting the nod over Yarbrough. And I agree about Lacey, he was a man on a mission to keep his roster spot last night. He was all over the field, looked good in run support and made some plays in coverage too. He was one of the main guys that flashed for me last night. He was around the ball all night. Last year the Bills kept 7 Linebackers. This year, if they keep the same, I think your top 5 are set with Milano, Lorenzo, Edmunds, Thompson (as the 4th), Stanford (as your main backup middle LB). That leaves Lacey, Joseph, Dodson, and Maurice Alexander fighting for two spots. After last night, I think it is Lacey and Joseph. If they like Dodson enough, maybe he goes to the practice squad and I don't think the other Alexander has shown enough, so he's probably gone. Earlier in camp, some said Lacey's roster spot might be in jeopardy, but he may have secured it last night. RocCityRoller
Lacey looked great. He took advantage of Thompson not being in. I think the last LB spot is between Mo Alexander and Johnson. I'd expect Mo to get the nod with Johnson trying to be snuck onto the PS.

Trade one, and wouldn't be that opposed to it being Lawson as he likely could bring the most in return, maybe a decent swing tackle. Good chance he's not re-signed next year anyway as going to want big $$, and unless he really plays much better than past , may not be worth it. starrymessenger
Lacey is a good ST player. To the extent he improves his standing as an adequate backup LB he helps himself a lot. Johnson absolutely makes the 53 based on what (little) I have seen so far, some of which is downright eyepopping. He has the traits of a good pass rushing DE and now everybody knows it. Word gets around fast. Try to put him on the PS and kiss him goodbye. Whoever scouted this guy for the Bills deserves a raise. whatdrought
My personal thing is, don’t get rid of guys who get to the QB. Whether it’s practice, or 3rd stringers in pre-season, sacks are all about effort and feeling. If they can do that on any level, there’s a chance they can do it against real deals. MAJBobby
Keep 4 DTs (Shaq can play 3 tech in a pinch) and 5 DE. It really doesn’t need to be harder than that. 2

thebandit27
I think they keep 4 DEs: Hughes, Murphy, Shaq, and Johnson They'll probably try to sneak Love onto the PS, as he's made fewer plays that pop on film compared to Johnson, so he'll probably be in lower demand on the claims circuit. Even though Shaq isn't a big EDGE threat, LorAx and Edmunds can give them enough snaps out there that they won't be limited in their ability to rotate EDGE rushers. I agree, without the stats Darryl Johnson has been generating, the Bills might have sneaked him on to the PS, but that's looking pretty unlikely now. He is essentially forcing his way on to the 53 man roster. Mike Love has been something of a training camp darling, but he's not getting his name mentioned in the games so far. DCofNC
I don't see Johnson being waived, he isnt exactly where you want him in terms of weight, but that was known before you took him. He reminds me of Manny Lawson a bit. That's pretty big for late round guy. I would expect Yarborough to be released and them to keep Johnson on the roster as a back up to zo/de. He could fill what Zo does in the box, but there's no substitute for experience as a LB, so that's asking a lot. Also, I find it hard to believe Joseph will be let go, his colege career was very productive, he seems to be translating it well to the pros, with Milano's success, I cant imagine them ditching him after investing a pick in him and seeing good on field production.
