Well, for the most part Chicago is a place where careers go to die,

I've watched JT O'Sullivan do his QB film room on both Bears games so far. If you are bored and like that kind of stuff, start with their week 1 game and then watch this past week. Fields, his weapons, and the coordinator are all playing high school-tier ball and it's very entertaining to watch JT rip into them

To be fair though I think if he had passed on Manziel it's a good chance that there was some other teams after them with a late round pic that would have got him

The rumor at the time was that it took the collective effort of the entire Cowboys' organization to talk Jerry Jones out of taking him.

Yeah, I mean at the time he was one of the best QB coming out of college. Think it was his personality and the way he acted with how he handled himself in general that was the issue for most other teams.

Depending on the state of the franchise regarding certain teams can make them feel those type of issues are worth the risk

Cool. We may be in the market for a backup QB next year.

Fields could resurrect his career here if he really wanted to put the work in and learn from Josh Allen possibly getting a shot to start somewhere else. Just like Trubisky, but he squandered it in Pittsburgh.

What a disaster the 2021 QB class has been after Trevor Lawrence went off the board at #1.  The 1st round has 3 potential busts including Trey Lance who was jettisoned for a 4th & for SF he's officially a bust already.  Mac Jones is JAG. The 3rd rounders & beyond are backups or practice squad players.

No. 1: Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars
No. 2: Zach Wilson, New York Jets
No. 3: Trey Lance, San Francisco 49ers
No. 11: Justin Fields, Chicago Bears
No. 15: Mac Jones, New England Patriots
No. 64: Kyle Trask, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
No. 66: Kellen Mond, Minnesota Vikings
No. 67: Davis Mills, Houston Texans

No 133 Ian Book New Orleans

No 218 Sam Ehlinger Indianapolis

Man that is a rough draft I’ll never forget Todd Mcshay going on and on about Zach Wilson’s rare arm talent and two years later Todd is unemployed

Fields is pretty decent. He can definitely be a Jalen Hurts type in the right offense. Chicago wouldn't know what to do with a QB if they had one (which they never did in the entire history, wild)

Yeah, it's tough to get a read on any QB on a team that messed up. I thought Fields was turning the corner last year. I guess it was the corner right out of town.

Albert Breer in SI today:

‘There’s no sugarcoating it—Justin Fields hasn’t looked good for two weeks. So I figured the time was right to try and figure out what the tape is telling teams that are studying him. And the answers I got were pretty interesting.

“It’s a combination of a lot of things,” says one AFC exec. “Protection isn’t great, and when he does start getting hit, he starts to drop eyes. The biggest issue is he’s not seeing the field—he has guys open at times and doesn’t pull the trigger. On top of that, he’s had some misses. They’re actually probably doing too much, in terms of pass options. . . . It’s a good scheme. [Offensive coordinator] Luke [Getsy] was probably hoping he took the next steps in the pass game. There’s no rhythm in the offense right now because the quarterback can’t see it.”

Along those lines, another exec says he saw similarities over the past two weeks to where Fields was in his development during his rookie year under the previous staff.

“It’s trying to make him a pocket passer and not doing enough to get him out on the edges where he has easier throws, because he can hurt you with his running ability,” says the NFC exec. “Everyone’s gonna play him the same—keep him in the pocket and make him feel like the rush is closing. And then his eyes will come down and he can’t find open guys. And the offensive line is not good, so he will keep feeling pressure.”

So what’s the answer for Getsy and coach Matt Eberflus? First and foremost, it seems as if the big thing is what it’s always been for Fields—the Bears have to get him playing faster. And going back to college, he always played faster when the running game was working, and he knows where he’s going with the ball.

Of course, creating those circumstances for a quarterback is easier said than done.‘

You’re kidding right?

Just watch this and tell me what you would do if Josh Allen made this read

Lawrence is a good one. Mac could be a low end starter for a few years, otherwise woof

You must have never watched an all 22 film on Josh. He does this every game. Watch the Jets game. You will kick yourself. Open receivers everywhere

A few serviceable backups in there.

Ok. Does that make fields any better?

Yes because every QB does that from time to time, especially ones that people on here thinks walks on water. I see no difference between Hurts and Fields except Fields has no offense and Hurts was plug and play on an already great team

He’s on his second coaching regime. Nagy was a whisperer in KC. I’m thinking he’s unable to read D’s and progress in his options. He is just not good.

Every QB will appear to miss open receivers to someone unfamiliar with the play’s concept, the coverage, and how the QB is expected to go through the progression. The issue with the play that was posted by Hindsight is that Fields missed at least 3 open receivers and appeared to be looking in the direction of at least two of them. Number 2 on the left has a “free access” or “gift” route and is open at the snap based on the defense’s alignment. Every quarterback takes that throw immediately unless they don’t understand what they’re supposed to be looking for when they break the huddle.
