can someone update to me who Ari Meirov is? NFL Insider? I will believe this when it comes from the Bills or NFL Comish

He’s been covering the NFL as long as i’ve been on Twitter and was blue checkmarked before you could pay for it.

im guessing if they wipe the game, it's because the bills asked to not play it given the obvious circumstances,  and the bengals didn't protest (and they'd look terrible to protest it let alone i doubt there is much support in the organization to press for something like that right now).  that would essentially be the bills abdicating their shot at holding the 1 seed, the bengals giving up their shot at a better seed (sort of accepting the 3 seed), and KC getting gifted the 1.

given that the bills have the most skin in the game wrt rankings and are giving up the 1 seed, i don't think any other teams would really complain.

Perhaps they wait to see the results of next week's games to see if this game is necessary to determine playoff seeding.  That said, it's hard to imagine a scenario where it isn't.  I guess if the Chiefs and Bengals both lose next week and the Bills win, the Bills would lock up the #1 seed regardless of this game, but does that still leave the #2 vs. #3 seeds (KC vs. Cincy) in question and/or the AFC North championship (Cincy vs. Baltimore)?  I don't have the time to run the scenarios....back to work.  Continued thoughts and prayers for Hamlin.

Not resuming the game is as much of a no-brainer as postponing the game last night.   I expect them to announce a tie, no contest or something similar.  They will figure out who gets seeded where based on week 18 results...and some team(s) fans may not be happy but the NFL will do the best they can.  And every team and fanbase involved will live with it and be OK.

Makes sense.  There's no realistic way to make up a Monday night game in the same week, and then turn around and play the following weekend.  Now they need to make a call on how they're handling this game overall, so that teams know where they stand going into the last game of the season.

May be they give a W to both teams and allow the Bills the 1st round bye ot mentally re-group.  Again, these games are so far away in the minds of the players...it really doesn't matter until Hamlin recovers.  Prayers to Hamlin and his family.  Go Bills !

It's the right call.  Life goes on, and business goes on - but w/ the way the players were reacting last night, it's hard to imagine them even practicing this week, much less trying to play a game in one of the next couple of nights.

A positive update about Hamlin will shift the energy a bit. Here's hoping.

If the Bills did lock up the 1 seed (would obviously need a KC loss too), maybe the NFL would assume Bills forfeit to Cincy, since the Bills’ seeding would not be dependent on that game.  If the Bills don’t have the 1 seed locked up, NFL probably figuring they’ll cross that bridge when it gets here.

i like where your head is at, but i think they'd give out a tie before a W to each team, which still leaves KC with the 1 seed.

I think the NFL is desperately hoping for:

CIN win, BUF win, KC loss.

That would mean the game is irrelevant.  CIN would win the division and BUF would win the #1 seed regardless of the outcome of the game.

I think the nightmare scenario is a Baltimore win.  That means they need this game to determine the winner of the division.

Edit... although I suppose if CIN wins, they should get a crack at the #1 seed as well.

Yea like that will happen...

Chiefs barely beat the hapless Broncos last week. Russ had the chance for a game winning drive at the end of the game. They aren’t unbeatable.

I have to imagine this game will never be played now that it won’t be played this week. I guess it will be a no contest and playoff seeding will go by win percentage.

This is not true.... If that were to happen and bengals beat us they would be the 1 seed.

0-4 in road playoff games.

the team keeping it together and finishing out the sesson would be a huge win in of itself.  At this point, who cares about HFA throughout the playoffs.  Let’s just hope that Hamlin pulls through.

I dont think this game is getting played.  There is no fair outcome for this.  They just have to do the most fair thing they can for all teams and move on.  Teams will just have to deal with where they are seeded.  It is what it is and I don't really care.  Life is more important than football.

Ask SF how easy it was to beat the Raiders. Just a guess but I think the Raiders are going to play very well and give the Chiefs all they can handle. These teams hate each other so I am sure the Raiders would love to knock the Chiefs off from the #1 seed. KC will probably win but an upset isn't out of the question. I think it will be harder for the Bills to beat the Pats given what is going on right now.

I'd rather get the 2 seed than have the only game a week from Sunday, giving every other playoff team a bye. Sure, we could still get a bye at that point - but we might not, and that's really a worst-case scenario in terms of rest & health.

The Bills can win on the road, and who knows - maybe someone beats KC before we play them so we get the AFCCG at home.
