Bucs sign Beasley

Had nothing to do with it.  He declined severely, he has taken a toll over the middle, he's 33 years old... that's what happens.

I like Beasley but he's just declined to far, he's too slow.

Time will tell.  Beasley is still tough as nails and surgical in how he can find the gaps in zone coverage.

There are two perspectives:

1) Beasley was hampered by rib injuries and perhaps by continued recovery from his broken leg (it didn't need surgery, but could still have slowed him), those are the reason for his decline in 1st downs and  Y/R.  If he's healthy, he's still Got It

2) Beasley was markedly slower last season and easier to take away.  We no longer hand the "intermediate passing game" we'd had the previous year because he couldn't get there quickly enough

I personally kind of wonder if Beasley will actually be a good match for Brady.  I haven't been paying enough attention to Tampa Bay, but in NE Brady seemed to have a reputation for demanding surgical precision from his receivers vs "get open and catch the ball".

Beasley is a gamer,  he always has been.  Played injured for us with damn broken bones for pete's sake.

How many times did you see him make catches for us and we all knew he was playing hurt.

Yeah he ran his mouth, but that still does not mean he can't play at a high level.

It sucks he has to goto Tampa to play,  but he still deserves a shot at playing some where.

I wish him well.

Damn. I wish he would have just kept his damn mouth shut. Imo, he was on his way to Ring of Honor status/Buffalo immortality.

The Bills have GPS data on every player for every practice and game.  The game data are public, the practice data are confidential.

I thought it was a mistake when we cut John Brown to save money, but after he bounced around on and off 4 teams the following season, it seemed pretty likely the Bills knew what they were doing and were acting based on medical reports and data.

I think the Bills were likely to move on from Beasley due to medical reports and what they saw on film and on the GPS compared to his contract even if he'd been the perfect soldier all season, and that (what has been reported and rumored and fined for) his behavior on-site refusing to follow his employer's rules was what clinched the deal.

I don't wish Beas any ill but he is close to washed IMO.

That's my take, but time will tell.

I think it's notable that Beasley has been signed to the practice squad and will have to earn his way onto the roster.  I think when training camp started, he was thinking he would turn down a guaranteed contract for vet minimum, he wanted more.  Now....

Perfect fit and thought all along it'd be a team like GB or Tampa that signs him.

Not good news for the rest of the league giving Brady another Edleman type of player which is something that has been missing during his time with the Bucs. It's going to get real old hearing about Brady to Beasely over and over later this season.

Would be another great storyline too if the Bills and Bucs meet in the SB which a lot of folks predicted before the season.

Well they have Beasley now, so never say never!

I thought I read that Eddleman and Welker were both QB's in HS & College, and that's why Brady liked them so much in terms if scheme etc.

I knew Edleman was. He threw a few passes for the Pats and was also their emergency QB.

Brady is going to love him. He loves slow, scrappy, white receivers who can move the chains.

The most marked place where Beasley's stats fell off last season were in 1st downs - from 53 to 34 with the same number of receptions.

How does Brady feel about slow, scrappy white receivers who can't move the chains?

Bease and Florida are a match made in heaven.

Can’t blame the guy for seeking sensibility and logic. I wish him well, unless he’s facing the Bills of course.

The Bucs aren't going to the superbowl.

Well, they play in the NFC. That means they have a pretty good chance.

Sure, they are playoff bound, but the Eagles are looking spicy and I just don't see the overwhelming presence this season from the Bucs offense. Still a lot of season left though.

Yep, it’s far from a sure thing. It’s definitely early in the season, but the NFC just doesn’t look too scary. Brady and Bucs will be favored vs any QB including Rodgers imo.

Pretty good, apparently. He has been wanting to sign him.

Right Shmite. Flapping his ignorant gums cost him serious cred when he had such a great thing going with Allen.

Discretion is the better part of valor.

He wasn’t ignorant, you just didn’t like what he had every right to say. Should he had publicly said it is a different discussion for a different forum.

Beasley had a LOT to do with Josh Allen's development during his first two seasons in Buffalo.

In 2021, his production dropped significantly.

I don't wish him any ill will, but I was happy as hell to see him leave.

Getting him and Sanders out of the way will allow Davis to shine and it seems his replacement from the jets is up to the task.

Folks here are probably making way too much of this. When receivers start to decline, they drop off a cliff. Jordy Nelson went from 1257/14TD to less than 500 in a  season and was done. Vincent Jackson went from 1000 to 550, Roddy White 1351 to 711, TY Hilton 1270 to 551.

Beasley is older than all of them when his drop occurred. The difference between an elite WR and a guy that isn't good enough to play in the league isn't much more than a step. I'd be floored if he's able to look anything like his 2020 or prior self. More than likely I see him pushing too hard and getting a nagging injury and he hangs them up after the year.

He was and is the definition of ignorant. It's his right to be so, but it's undeniable.

We'll see.

Yeah, that’s why the Bucs signed him because he’s slow and too old🤔

Technically, the Bucs didn't sign Beasley yet; they put him on their practice squad as an audition, to see what he's got left.

PS players are officially FA.

And, the Bucs can even elevate him to their active roster for 3 games to see what he's got at game speed without signing him.

Tom Brady will love Beasley. That will be his new Welker/Edelman type of WR. Wouldn't be a bad grab in PPR leagues either.

Maybe but Beasley doesnt have the YAC type of play of those guys.  I think Beasley will make their offense better but he isnt catching the ball and running 10-20 yards after the catch.

The only thing he has in common with those guys is that he's a small white dude. Completely different kind of player.

A small, white guy with excellent route running ability and good hands. The type of target Brady loves. Let it go homey. It's alright. He's not here anymore. No need to still be over there like:

I'm already keeping a wary eye on the Bucs.

Maybe I'm soft, but it's hard for me to look forward to a SB against that team, with that QB.  Too many years - he's still the monster in the closet for me.

Sure, it would be the ultimate to finally beat him in a game like that (and feel a lot like our win over the Pats last year in the WC).  But is it worth 2 weeks of talking heads talk about how one-sided Brady's record is against the Bills, and all of that baggage?

Just give me a normal SB, psychologically.  That will be stressful enough.

Would be ironic if we get to Super Bowl and faced the Eagles as the only NFCE team we didn't play against yet for the Lombardi.
