BillsVet
Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson, now Matt Stafford. As bad as Buffalo has had it (until recently) Detroit has been exponentially worse. Hope he finds a team he can be in the post-season with.

Fan in Chicago
4 minutes ago, Wayne Cubed said: Overdue, imo. He is a "good enough" QB - adequate to win just enough games to keep it interesting but unable to pull his team higher. He will have a Rivers-type deal somewhere as a bridge QB.

I remember in his second season reading a story where he was talking about all the marble he had imported for his house and all this other material stuff.............and I thought that was a bit of putting the cart before the horse for like a 21 year old dude.........and back then when you went #1 overall you got paid HUGE. As a friend of mine says...........it's pre-paying the ransom. Wayne Cubed
I've always thought Stafford has been good to very good but not great. Somethings always been missing and it can't all be blamed on the coaching. 1
Hapless Bills Fan
Stafford is due $20M next season and $22M the next. He's 33 years old. https://overthecap.com/player/matt-stafford/1060/ Possibly the "arrangement" has to do with signing bonus, which at present would leave Detroit $19M in dead cap after a trade. I would say maybe Colts, but depends upon what exactly Detroit wants for him.

Rc2catch
Let him go to New England.. Why are fans so scared of other teams building? I enjoyed some of Staffords seasons in Detroit. Allen is a MVP candidate this year. If this is the level of play he’s going to stay at for years to come what are people scared of? We were bullied for so many years I swear some fans are shell shocked. We are the bully in most instances now. Enjoy it. I hope other teams build, I want competitive games and competition. Albany,n.y.
Washington, Chicago, Indianapolis, and New Orleans are all playoff teams that need a QB. Stafford & a 3rd for one of their 1st rounders. He makes all but Washington a Super Bowl contender. 2

I don’t know, just because someone wants nice things doesn’t mean they lose focus and aren’t a good competitor. Didn’t he also have a game where he had a separated shoulder or something like that, went back I to the game, and ran the ball in on 4th and goal? as an organization when you screw up having arguably both a top 2 or 3 running back and a top 3 or 4 receiver and have really nothing to show for it, that’s on the organization, not the players

I can see Stafford having a few strong seasons for the right team. Indy, New England, maybe a few others.

ColoradoBills
With only 2 years left on his contract and his cost after the Detroit Dead Money he could end up in a lot of different places. There are a lot of teams with higher draft picks than the 15th Patriots and the 21st Colts. This is going to be one of those wait and see things. GunnerBill
He will go wherever he thinks he can win. Colts would be my first bet and honestly I think he is better than 2020 Philip Rivers. 49ers and Carolina also in play.

Bferra13
I think Stafford is overrated personally. 50% of the Lions suck is on him. Thats a two way street if ya ask me. Everyone always feels so sorry for him blah blah blah. He's maybe above average and pretty darn un-clutch.

Except he is right up there among QBs in the last decade in 4th Quarter comebacks. I think Stafford is clutch. If anything the opposite is true. Too often he plays small early in games which is why they are behind. It is like he is too laid back but once you flick that switch he can go. 1

Even with losing the Brees contract, I don't see how they could afford Stafford. I agree with others and think Indy is the likely landing spot. Straight Hucklebuck
I’m happy for Stafford. The Lions obviously messed up last year by not drafting Herbert when they had the chance and getting this process kicked off a year earlier. It was being discussed as the spent the #3 pick on a cornerback.
GunnerBill
On New England I think New England would love Stafford. I think he'd fit great in their offense too. Not sure with the likely bidding war for his services why Stafford would want to go to New England? I am sure given this is a mutual parting that Detroit will try and respect where Stafford wants to go.

GunnerBill
I will tell you what this does do.... it put Carolina in a trade up or else spot. Because there is no way the 4th QB gets to #8 now. So unless they sign Stafford they have to move up.
