DallasBillsFan1
For two weeks in a row the Bills have failed to stop the Hail Mary. Slightly different circumstances but you know where this is heading. Does McDermott have a conversation with Frasier and do they practice for it or even discuss it in the defensive team meetings? It cost us a win and nearly a second. It just seems uncanny that the opposing receivers are getting the ball and Bills defenders cannot knock it away. I'll be curious to see if McD is asked about it. Best Williams Available
Bottom line is the other teams chances of catching it are >>>>better if you are trying to catch it (holding it up in the air) versus spiking the damn thing down like volleyball. Just tell them to do the latter. 1

Getting struck by lightning in back to back weeks is more than just bad luck, it’s bad execution. The defensive backs need to get their asses chewed out. 6
clearwater cadet
The chargers WR dropped the ball on the long pass at the 2 yard line at the end of the game. I don't know how that gets missed by league review/ booth review.
ALLEN1QB
Why not put the tallest players out there to defend it Edmonds 6'6" instead of 5'10 White etc?? All they have to do is stand there and knock it away not rocket science. 1

I’m typically as optimistic as you can be and I’m totally fine with the win today, but this is a Bills message board and this topic is a legitimate question. I know it’s a “flukey” play but you’d think after the last game this team would never have that happen again. Hopefully they’re all just getting it out of the system before playoffs...

It's completely unacceptable that after losing on the same play in Arizona (who BTW have lost 3 of 4 and only beat the Bills in that stretch) for the exact same thing to happen on a similar play after a bye week. At what point does this coaching staff rip into the team and hold them accountable for such a lack of focus and discipline? They were waiting to hear from "high football IQ" for them to wake up and talk about it. Surely they had no conversation at all after the Arizona game or during the bye week. Thanks for getting their attention. 3

If you count the catch that was called back based on the offensive pass interference call, isn't that 4 Hail Mary completions in 2 games? I can't remember ... is it 4 for 4, or was one broken up in between? Ordinarily I would say that's just dumb luck, but I can't recall a run of bad luck quite like this ... something must be wrong here.

Put in tall WRs to defend it they know how to catch and/or knock down the ball - it's not like they have to cover someone - they have to stand around the goal line and get to the ball. I remember the Pats putting Moss in as DB to defend last second desperation throws
Dr.Sack
Noticed after the WR catch he spun off Tremaine Edmunds tackle. Crazy considering Edmunds was behind him and had a clean shot. Edited November 30, 2020 by Dr.Sack

TPS
It seems our best defenders, Hyde, Poyer, and White, turn into Larry, Moe, and Curly on the Hail Mary... 1
Freddie's Dead
The Bills have a long history of this. My favorite is Nate Clements trying for the INT on 4th and 27 against the Jags, and Ernest Wilford just plucking the ball away for a first down. KNOCK IT DOWN! Greg S
The end of the game was comical. The Bills inability to defend the hail mary and the Chargers pathetic play calling at the end. Lynn will probably be fired. Talentwise that isn't a 3-8 football team especially with Herbert playing so well

Reminds me of the classic baseball error of multiple outfielders going for a catch at the same time, and none wind up with it as it drops in for a hit. Maybe having a crowd back there is part of the problem? Only one or 2 could see better to make the "kill" happen without friendly fire adjustment interference? 🧐

Yesterday, Poyer went up and was knocking it down. Taron Johnson came in with his arms and sort of swiped at Poyer, and then the ball got hung up on someone else's jersey, and the Chargers receiver just stole the ball.
Jamie Mueller
At the end of the Cardinals game, I honestly thought that it was just incredible luck for Arizona that the play worked. Yesterday, I really thought that a couple of the defenders were trying to grab the ball... instead of simply knocking it down.

WideNine
We had a line of players deep, and then allowed the taller Bolts receiver to obtain a better position in front of them to high-point the ball. Did the same thing on the other "rare" hail Mary completion. It is a bad scheme. The Bills need guys deep and some guys who can high-point shallow bracketing the receiver - not a whole group standing behind the other team's best jump ball player. Then stop trying to catch the damn thing - knock it down, knock it down, knock it down. OR if they are not going to execute it correctly just use a deep zone and rush 5 to get to the QB keep everything in front and in the middle. Food_Pyramid_Wrong
My favorite part of that play was, after the catch, our 'star' MLB blowing a tackle attempt that almost allowed the score. Tremaine, stop trying to tackle people by their shoulders. Wrap your nine foot wingspan around waists and legs please.
