thenorthremembers
100% yes. Give him one year deals until he slows down or decides to retire. They should be handling Alexander just like they have Kyle Williams. Now, I wouldnt say you need to pay him top ten OLB money, but they should try and extend him at one year for around 5.5.
YoloinOhio
He doesn’t seem like the type to demand big money but who knows. He seems to be very involved in the community and raising his family in Buffalo, plus he may not be as successful in anothwr defense.
TroutDog
I certainly hope they do. Since so much of his career was not as an every down player, it stands to reason that he could ‘safely’ play another year or two...or until they mutually agree have him retire. I’d loathe seeing him in another teams uni.
MAJBobby
1 year 4.5 and 3M guaranteed will likely be good enough to get it done. Lorax and Kyle are year to year contracts at this point.
JerseyBills
absolutely... people forget, he doesn't have many miles on those legs because he really wasn't playing on a regular basis til he came to Buffalo and he doesn't appear to have lost a step at all, as that graphic shows, he's playing tremendously as a pass rusher. He fits what McD is looking for off the field like a glove as well and with a very young team, he's a great influence in that locker room and on the field.

Magox
A big resounding yes for both Lorax and Kyle Williams. Until they show signs of obvious regression you extend them.

He just seems like someone who LOVES to play football. The exchanges between Zo and Steve Smith on GMFB about deep acupuncture and what it takes to get right vs. young guys are classic pic.twitter.com/RCv7p5sxAy (also apparently Smith and Alexander's wives were college roommates. that's some funny stuff there) Cover1 talks Zo on the field: https://www.cover1.net/lorenzo-alexanders-unreal-level-of-play-in-2018/ If he wants to play, keep him.
GunnerBill
He wasn't signed for his fit in Rex's scheme he was signed for his special teams play. Then Shaq went down, Manny Lawson struggled and had a PED issue and suddenly Lorax was in. I was for cutting him last year because as an off the ball backer in this scheme going sideline to sideline he struggled. They hit on the way to use him effectively in that playoff game in Jacksonville and he has been lights out this year. If he wants a 1 year extension I'd give him one.

thebandit27
Absolutely. He's been a great fit at the Sam, can give you snaps as a pass rusher, play ST in a pinch, and is a good locker room guy. I'd happily give him another year or two at $5M AAV.

YoloinOhio
I wonder if he would have an interest in coaching post-career. He seems to like the media stuff and may not want the time commitment of coaching, but I think he would be really good. Especially having experience at so many different positions and schemes. TigerJ
Yes, but the Bills need to be careful about the kind of contract they offer him. A multi-year deal with lots of guaranteed money ought to get them pause. A one or two year deal would be fine with a modest signing bonus.
Victory Formation
Bring him back on a 1yr deal, but draft a young player to put behind him.

MrEpsYtown
For sure. He is playing exactly where he should which is as a 2 down SAM and a nickel pass rusher. He does a lot of very nice things for our defense and special teams. I know a lot of people aren't into intangible stuff, but teh leadership and mentoring he offers is worth every penny, and he can still play at a high level.

The_Dude
1. Yes 2. I get the “Lorax” nickname, but honestly when I hear Lorax I think of bearded Ryan Fitzpatrick. That dude definitley speaks for the trees.
RyanC883
Yes. (1) LORAX is like James Harrison. He's playing his best ball in his 30's ;and (2) he can help our defensive Josh Allen (who may be BPA when we draft) get acclimated to the NFL! Or whoever we draft for OLB. technobot
I've been pleasantly surprised with Lorax this year; considering his age I thought he might fall off a cliff. Quite the opposite, he's playing his best football ever. I hope they do sign him. Agree with the sentiment that he provides a veteran presence and value on ST on top of his defensive performance. Even if he takes a step back he's of tremendous value for those two reasons, assuming he doesn't ask for a truckload of money (doesn't seem the type, will probably be happy with a "fair" contract assuming he still wants to play). Of course, try to draft/sign his eventual replacement, but keep him if he's interested.
