Bills reportedly unlikely to trade McCoy and plan to keep him through 2019

thats true.

i do think that game is more of an example of the exception to the rule though.

defense played out of their minds and put the offense in great position throughout the game.

The Eagles are not trading anybody that is on par with McCoy.  If the rumor is true I still wish Beane had waited to open with a bid to see if a sub-package could have been done with perhaps one of our defensive depth guys for WR Matthews.

I have no idea what the Eagles could offer because I don't have the knowledge of them like I do with the Bills. Maybe someone not on par with McCoy talent wise, but maybe someone younger and above average?

To consider... Despite early season issues, Eagles are very likely to win NFC East and into playoffs. So... any pick we might get will very likely be a bottom of the round pick. Big difference picking 1st in round 2 vs last in round 2 (for instance).

If they lost in first round after lucking into the playoff, they'd likely not be that close to the bottom of the round (21st or 22nd, like us this year)...

competitive for what?

We're 2-3 and only 1 game away from the top of the AFC East. Technically speaking.

Edit: Sorry 2 games I guesss, but we've yet to play any division rivals. My point is we are competing.

And all our games have been against teams coming off a winning record last year, three were on the road, and the two wins were against 2017-18 playoff teams.

yeah but come on. We broke the drought. Super Bowl is all I care about now. That's not happening. The pick(s) we could get could be on a future super bowl contending online or WR corps. McCoy will be retired.

I would take nothing less than a 2019 #2. The chances of a pick taken in the early-mid 90s being a difference maker are low - and a lot lower than the chances of McCoy being a difference maker for Buffalo in 2018 and 2019.

Bear in mind that despite all of the happy talk re McBeane, they can't really have back-to-back bad seasons. If the Bills are bad or ho-hum next year, they pressure will be on. They need to take a big step forward next year.

If you don't want a 3rd for Shady, you don't understand what we're trying to build. A 4th or later is when you can start to complain.

A 3rd would be extremely strong value for a 30 year old running back with an expensive contract.

I see you have me confused with your kids .....MCD caused the limited talent by shipping the playmakers out and their inability to judge talent ( Tolbert, KB, Ducasse, ZAY, and his love for washed up Carolina players. Just because you like to keep your head in the sand that's up to you

I see you have yourself confused with a Bills player if you think you knows what goes on in their locker room.  You're a joke.

Exactly. People want to be pessimists, but why not be optimistic? We are coming off a playoff season with an upgraded defense and slightly downgraded offense, but with an improving talented QB. The whole AFC is tight right now and it's still early into the season. As I remember we got blown out a couple times last year too. Why can't I be excited? Why does it HAVE to be a rebuild?

Besides picks or a pick, what would they have to offer?  OG?  C?  WR?  Maybe McDermott needs another DT?!?!?!?

Chance Warmack? Lane Johnson? Just pulling names off the top of my head. Don't think they have any WR worthwhile sadly. Not sure we could afford Alshon - depends on how the contracts play out if there were a trade.

You are correct, the Eagles don't have the luxury of waiting. When you get to the deadline that is where you look at Hughes and everyone else IMO.

How about a winning culture? Perennial playoff teams can attract free agents and at cheaper prices too

A) His contract is actually quite reasonable. B) look at the 3rd round picks from last year and remember that Philly is still the odds on favorite to win that division meaning they'll draft no higher than 25th, which translates into picks 89-96 in round 3.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2017/draft.htm

Shaq Griffin and John Johnson are decent-to-good starters (both late 3rd rounders), but outside of Kareem Hunt (mid-3rd) and Alvin Kamara (early 3rd), there ain't much. My point is that the chances of the Bills striking gold in the third - or, more importantly, getting a player who will contribute more to the Bills than McCoy will the 27 games - is pretty low.

That’s a game the Bills are more than willing to play since they aren’t the ones pursuing the trade. If eagles are still on line 1 on Oct 30, then you consider. If not, worst case scenario is you kept the guy you wanted to keep

Count me out on the wanting to unload Hughes train.  The guy has a year left on his contract after this season and he is balling.  Our defense looks good right now and we have the foundation for the future with White, Edmunds etc.  In my opinion we need to hold onto Hughes and try to find some pass rushing talent in a deep draft for that to take over for Hughes in a couple of years.  I wouldn't even mind adding a year to Hughes contract if he was interested.  If we trade Hughes not only do I think our defense suffers the rest of this season, but I think it could significantly hurt the defense next season as well.  Next season the Bills should be contenders to make the playoffs and trading Hughes would be a mistake.

I’m not trading our captain for a 3rd round pick.

Shady has been a role model teammate and we finally gave him touches last week and he finally started to get into rhythm

of corse he isn’t going to look good with 6 touches a game. He needs to feel the game out

Mother #&^*&##@@!!!! If they make this trade I hope they do it after the game this Sunday... it will really suck to have dropped a bunch of cash traveling to Houston to watch a demoralized team rack up less than 100 yds total on offense.

I don't want to derail this thread, but was just saying if things look bleak (which they should) come the trade deadline, that is where you look to sell - Hughes was simply an example of an aging player that we might be able to get some value out of it. Whether we should or not is another thread...

If Beane got a 3rd for Tyrod, we should expect a 2nd for Lesean, in my opinion.

Different scenarios though. Even though Mccoy is a way better football player than Tyrod

1. Tyrod is younger and way younger relative to their positions

2. QB is way more valued than a RB

3. RBs with high mileage and over 30 With a high cap hit are not worth a lot at all.
