However I did see it said that (and I haven't watched any Indy games this season) play calling wise they havent really attempted many deep throws. I do think there is legitimately concern over his arm strength internally. I don't care how much stornger Brissett's arm is, you don't take your franchise QB and top playmaker off the field there if there isn't a concern with Luck. I do think that over time he will get stronger again but even if he doesn't he is still pretty good.
BigBuff423
I see the reticence to over-use Luck's arm or asking him to heave a ball as far as he can throw it, nothing more than caution. He's taken a long time to come back and the fate of the Indy franchise rests with him for the next 3 years. I think they simply want to make sure they're not putting him a position to be re-injured again and easing him over the course of the season into full "playing shape" for a QB, which obviously has everything to do with their arm.

RobbRiddick
The Bills were considering bringing Allen in to throw the hail Mary's while Peteman was starting, does that mean Peterman's career is don... Since he's still building up the strength I'm sure they decided to not have him go full on "heave ho" with a 100% bomb. Figured it's better to not risk him overthrowing his limitations until it's fully back.
H2o
This is what I feared when people were clamoring for a Luck trade. He will never be the same player. He is now Chad Pennington 2.0 for the most part.

Agreed, overstatement by the OP but....I heard yesterday that Luck has only one completion this year where the ball has traveled over 20 yards. I think the Colts should be very concerned about his arm & your going to see more teams sitting on his coverage until he could prove that he could beat the defense deep. Royale with Cheese
The only way Luck is done is if Frank Reich wants to throw a Hail Mary on every pass play. My gut tells me that's probably not the case.

I believe the stat was he's completed something like 114 passes that have traveled more than 31 yards in his 1st 5 years and he hasn't attempted anything close to that distance yet. Also Reich said in the post game that Brissett game them the best chance at getting the ball in the endzone. Meaning they know he is still hurt/struggling with his arm strength but I'm guessing that this is part of his "rehab" if you will.

dpberr
I happened to be at this game (Colts v Eagles). The weather was lousy. It rained steadily up until the 4th quarter. The field was pretty bad at that point. Both teams were playing the dink and dunk the entire game. I think he was taken out so he wouldn't get injured on a last, arguably desperate play. Luck looked ok to me but he threw a lot of passes that game - 40 because the Colts running game is weak. Not as many as his first game but you got the impression Eric Ebron had like 250 catches during the game.
26CornerBlitz
Reich: 'I Have No Concerns' about Luck's Velocity Frank Reich dismissed concerns about Andrew Luck's arm after the QB underthrew a few deep passes Sunday against the Eagles. Through three games, Luck owns a 5.5 air-yards per pass average.
SoTier
One of the criticism of Luck in the past is that he tried to throw long too much, and the Indy coaching staff did little to curb that tendency. My guess is that Reich is trying to make Luck into a more disciplined -- and more effective -- QB who depends less on raw talent and more on intelligence, patience, knowledge, etc. Most successful QBs today aren't throwing lots of passes that travel long distances through the air.
zonabb
Do you realize the only skill used on this play is heaving the ball as far as you can at some general location in the endzone? No reading the D, no audible, no touch pass on a cross, just heave it. So why, after missing the time he did with the injury he had, would you bring in Luck for a skill-less and low probability throw when he's working to get this arm strength back? You bring in Uncle Rico for this if you want. Turns out when you go looking just for evidence to support your theory rather than look at all evidence, you are a garbage researcher and scientist. Confirmation bias is the most used approach on TSW.
