Josh Gordon to be released-now traded to PATS

I think I figured this board out!

Before the trade most of the board was complaining that Josh Gordon was too much of a risk and probably won’t play another game in the league.

After the trade most most of the board is complaining that the Pats continue to make brilliant moves and the Bills suck and Josh Gordon is Randy Moss 2.0.

So, my analysis is that people only come here to complain, with a few exceptions.

** I would have loved if the Bills gave up a conditional low round pick for Gordon - as Majbobby made a good case for.

Why don't you find and quote a poster who has said both things?  That would make your point more impactful.

Thats my point!  Not that people are flip flopping (although that does happen). It’s that many people just come on and make negative posts so every thread seems negative.

So what?  The kid unfortunately will likely screw up again and Belichick will show him the door

I kinda agree.  There is a CHANCE this may work out for the Pats, but I put that at well under 50%.  The Pats are taking on WRs the Browns don't want anymore, and one that the Bills got rid of pretty quick.

Also, I'm not saying that Brady can't adjust to differnet WR styles (I'm sure he can) but it seems the Pats offense is predicated on WR's that do not pay the game Gordon does.  They live on short slants, hitches, and the WR's knowing exactly what to do and being on the same page as Brady.  Cooks last year was a big time WR, downfield threat and the Pats didn't want him after just one year anymore.

Not good enough for the Bills according to some of our fans, but he'll go to New England and now we'll fail to cover him for 2 games this year.

You could have copied and pasted this from a thread about Corey Coleman or Brandon Reilly and it wouldn't surprise me if you actually did.

I said it would take a 5th to get the trade done. What did it take again??

Did anyone argue with you? I'm surprised in the opposite direction. I would have thought a 6th rounder would get it done.

I know three things about Josh Gordon.

His atrocious record with Baylor, the league, weed, suspensions, the Browns, availability, etc. One of worst ever.

His outrageous skills and production when playing with Baylor, the Browns, the league, etc. One of very best in league. Top 5.

Contrary to popular belief, he is a thoughtful guy, not at all a thug, not a jerk, not as one would assume he is if you take the time to learn a lot about him.

What I don't know is how he is in practice and around his teammates. it seems as though he tries when he is there. I think, but I don't know at all, that his teammates liked him. I haven't seen stories to the opposite.

To me he is Terrell Owens. A lot of fans hated him and his antics. To me, he worked his ass off, blocked well, never took plays off, and when he was traded to the Bills was a model citizen, even though I know and knew for sure he did some outrageously stupid things in the past.

He can help Josh a lot by getting open, getting deep, taking the defense's focus off other receivers, making plays, scoring TDs, etc. He did it for Tyrod in his only game this year. IF he is a player who tries in practice and isn't a jerk. I don't know that he is a locker room or practice player cancer at all.

And I know it's a 10% chance he plays, plays the whole season for anyone, and does well. I'll take that chance considering we have Andre Holmes as our #3.

I disagree. And I’ll leave it at that.

Except to say the Owens comparison is apt in terms of pure talent. But that’s where it ends for me. If Gordon ever shows an ounce of the same football character that Owens did, I’ll change my stance.

Teams just love to keep helping NE acquire talent.

Maybe one of these AFC teams will grow a pair and stop them from ruining Super Bowl Sunday this year. Please? I just want to relax and enjoy the game without my heart pounding out of my chest and frothing at the mouth like a lunatic the entire time.

I don't think I sleep for 2 days after a NE Super Bowl. It's too much.

So, the Pats own the entire AFC for 2 decades.  Finally, this year, a possible Achilles heel...bad wr corps.

And Cleveland decides to throw them a life preserver, for a player that will probably never start for them.

I hate other teams for doing this.

Yeah, the least that they could have done was trade him to a NFC team.

Have you considered not watching, or maybe lighting up before the game?

lol

Can't not watch... In the end, watching NE lose a Super Bowl is one of the greatest feelings in sports. But it's the risk that they might win that is too much to handle.

I literally cannot watch their games UNLESS it's like yesterday where I turn it on with 2:00 to go and the other team has the ball and an 11 point lead. EVEN THEN I'm nervous, expecting a fumble return for a TD and an onside kick with a hail mary to win it for NE, rather than the FG to tie it up. Just because.

Cooks was NOT getting paid by the Pats so a 1st for him was the best they could hope for.  Also Brady has had many crappy receivers look good, like Bug eyes Caldwell, and Brady also worked well with Randy Moss.

Of all teams, dealing him to the ´Évil Empire´. WTH is wrong with Cleveland?! I hope that Godforsaken, tire fire of a franchise eternally burns in hell.

Well, Bill B is the master of the "Dark Side."  Perhaps this was done with a little telekinetic "persuasion."

I wonder what made Cleveland all of a sudden decide to part ways with him? Seems like odd timing to me.

They just decided after week #1 that it was time to part ways?

Hopefully they caught wind of another "random" test

IF the test was done before the trade I do believe that would nullify the trade if he failed  IF they knowingly hid the fact. (As in that he failed)

He injured his hamstring in a promotional event not sponsored by the team on fri night, couldn’t play vs Saints, and showed up late looking “under the influence” on Saturday

!@#$ we didn't offer the Browns at least a 5th for Josh? I guess Mr Beane is satisfied with Kelvin, 2 rookies, Holmes at WR.  !@#$ CB, WR, and Oline.  Our Front Office has been ignoring these for years

THE FACT JOSH IS A PATRIOT FOR A 5TH- SAME OLD BILLS, SAME OLD PATS

We will send a 7th for Corey Coleman, but not a 5th for Josh- WTF??

Maybe they did offer something, who knows. But these two teams are in very different places. The Pats don’t care about the future. They don’t care about draft picks. They are ready to win another SB now and have a very tight window to do so. Brady is 41. The Bills are completely looking to the future. They aren’t trading draft picks for a guy with one foot out of the league,  and a very low chance of succeeding with a rookie Qb as has been proven for years. Any WR they pick up now should be on a multi-year deal and not a clown

After what Vontae just did, do you really think that McDermott would want to bring in Josh Gordon? No question the guy is supremely talented, but who knows if you can

count on him for a game let alone a season. A perennial playoff/SuperBowl team, with a hard-nosed coach, a great QB, and tons of leadership (aka the Patriots) might be able to get something out of Josh and keep him in line long enough for him to help them. But the current Bills are still trying to find their way. They have a lot of young guys playing important roles, etc. They don't need any more distractions than what they are currently dealing with. One WR was not going to turn this team around this year...the only thing that will make this a winning season is the same thing as last year, character, leadership, not giving up, playing as a team, coaching. We don't have enough talent to just outplay other teams (at least the better teams in the league) right now and Gordon would not have put us over the top talent-wise, so why risk the headache. Especially knowing that it would most likely be just a 14-game rental as we have lots of picks and money to get WRs next year (and I just don't see Josh holding it together for two or more consecutive seasons). This wasn't a case of him doing some things to force his way out of Cleveland, all of the issues were just who he is, what he is dealing with. I wish the guy luck in his life (not necessarily with the Patriots). But it is obvious to me (and a good decision) why the Bills wouldn't be interested.

They should have a very young club - maybe ditch the cancer before it taints other apples.
