BruceVilanch
Why is Paxton Lynch not talked about more as one of the bigger busts in recent memory? I get that he was picked in the later part of the first round, and I know he went to a small school (Memphis if I remember right) but this guy hasn't even sniffed the field and is now being beaten out by a guy who was picked last. I feel like if this was a buffalo/cleveland/Jax draft pick the media would be bashing the hell out of this pick. -In regards to the actual post. Good for Chad, i don't know if this is an endorsement of Chad or shows how bad Paxton Lynch really is.

I saw Brady play many times at Michigan, he was way behind the skill levels that Chad displayed in college of course many other variables come into play to meld to the discipline and toughness required to star in the NFL Roethlisberger was the only QB i saw in over a decade of college road trips for Big Ten games that was a sure thing, even with his team getting clobbered. :

I watched the replay of the game. Lynch's performance was easily the worst one by a QB that I saw among the first preseason games. One of the Denver announcers said that he hadn't developed at all, but his performance really wasn't even acceptable for a rookie QB much less a third year veteran. Lynch doesn't seem to have a future even as a backup. Kelly looked really good, but he followed Lynch which made him look even better.

GunnerBill
Just now, Royale with Cheese said: Well now you done it Gunner....you made Paxton cry. I still refuse to buy the argument that the better pick than taking Shaq was to take Paxton Lynch. If someone wants to make the argument that they should have taken Myles Jack I am not going to take issue with them... there are other guys who went later (including Deion Jones who had I a 1st round grade on) who would have been better selections too. But to take Paxton Lynch just because he was a Quarterback when there were so many freaking red flags about his ability to play in the league.... no. I just can't take that argument. I am all for picking Quarterbacks in the first round, early and often until you find one. But some years you have to look at those who are there at your pick and just say "no, they're horrible."

JESSEFEFFER
Over the span of 5 months leading up to the 2017 draft, Chad tore an ACL and lateral meniscus in his knee, had his combine invite rescinded in an unprecedented move by the NFL, and blew out a ligament in his throwing wrist at his "all in" Pro Day. These were epic setbacks of a Roy Hobbsian scale. I think getting the label of Mr. Irrelevant began his turnaround. He embraced the title and made it work for him and his career resurrection. Seems like he has listened to the good advice he was getting, attacked his rehab, kept his nose in the playbook and the rest of himself out-of-trouble. Throughout training camp he has been the first on the field and the last to leave. Broncos fans have noticed. There is nothing like seeing visions of losing your dream to force a reckoning. It is a future he has to work for and was no longer entitled to. Working his way to 2nd team is huge compared to where he was a little over a year ago even if the Broncos decide to bring in another vet QB. Congratulations to him. Many in WNY are watching and pulling for him. Edited August 14, 2018 by JESSEFEFFER

Arrogant, self absorbed teenagers do sometimes mature into better people, especially after fate has dealt them a few band hands. You could make the case that he has behaved pretty well since he entered Ol' Miss. He may have figured out that he can't behave that way and thrive. Rebel teammates, coaches and fans seem to have his back. 2) This would have been a horrible place for him to be and try to succeed. QB politics in Denver have been rough. Multiply that by 2 if he were here. He could have a nice career anywhere else but here with no feelings of regret from me. It may have been a disaster here. Josh Allen is here so the point is moot.

starrymessenger
Osweiler, Lynch...some GMs are just suckers for big bodies I guess. Lynch simply does not look to have a future in this league. Gives absolutely zero indication that he belongs on an NFL playing field. I don't know whether and how he will develop but Chad Kelly for sure has a chance. I knew about the injury and his being a head case and all but I had a hard time understanding why he was not drafted much earlier. I saw a fair number of his college games and it always seemed to me that the talent was definitely there. He may turn into a real steal for the Broncos. He will have to after the Lynch fiasco. There are a number of late round or undrafted youngsters who are looking pretty good so far this preseason - Fales, Kelly, Slotter, that kid who came in after Cam for Carolina.
