Friendly reminder - Brandon Beane has yet to prove a thing

This. I have nothing more to say about this thread. Thank you and have a pleasant day.

I think this post is the point the OP is trying to make. Hyde and Poyer were NOT BEANE SIGNINGS, but with making the playoffs this year, Beane has been getting 365 days worth of roster move credits. Whaley was still in office at that point.

Kinda harsh for a guy that hasn't had much of a chance to prove himself. I agree he has to prove himself. I wouldn't dump on him this early.

Anquan Boldin retired didn't he? I don't know how he would aquire stats for a team he's not even playing for when he's out saving the world. You gonna hold that against him? Sorry you said zero catches for him all year like he played for the team this year.

Kelvin Benjamin came in late and Peterman was the only guy that seemed to want to throw to him. Plus he got rocked in the leg. So didn't expect crazy stats. At least that was an attempt to give the struggling QBs a big target.

I wonder (not enough to actually look it up) what Peterman's passing rating is when he throws to Benjamin.

wait...how should i feel here?  i was feeling positive for making the playoffs, but i suppose that's over.  i'll go back to being fearful of the future now.

Welcome to the offseason at TBD, teef.

Fearmongering and negativity abound.....

What a lame thread. I'd rather read more about plenz and his hot yoga routine than this nonsense.....

This past season was a great success due to McDermott's ability to pull some rabbits out of the hat. Creating something out of nothing.

I know everyone's congratulating the coaching and management for the success. But let's reflect on what contributed to that success. What did Beane add to that team?  His biggest free agency signing - was Anquan Boldin. Who contributed ZERO catches to the team's 31st ranked passing offense.

His biggest trade acquisition was - Kelvin Benjamin. Who provided 16 catches for the 31st ranked passing offense. Essentially, Beane had ZERO POSITIVE IMPACT for 2017.

Beane will have to prove his worth, and earn some of the accolades he's gotten undeservedly from this past season. As a famous football movie said, "SHOW ME THE MONEY".

I'm waiting.

I would say his biggest trade acquisition was getting Gaines and a 2nd for Watkins.  Gaines has been invaluable to this defense.

Honestly I don't understand the point of the post.  Beane hasn't done anything yet.  Yeah we all pretty know.  He hasn't been here long enough to do anything.  He has done behind scenes stuff that most fans don't think about for example trading away high dollar contracts to better our cap situation down the road.

I get it. Some don't think Beane is any good

A 5th and future cap space.

I’d say somewhere in importance between the cap space and the 5th rounder is the message about the expected culture. So, maybe three things. Too little for many, but I get it both sides of the argument.

I happen to love the Kelvin Benjamin signing as this team hasn't had a big, tall red zone WR target in forever.  At 6'5 243 the guy is a monster for DB's to cover and this should become more evident once he has a legit NFL QB throwing to him. This was a huge move that would have really proved itself had Tyrod thrown to him more often.

Beane attempted to get Taylor more help and the guy gave up when he thought the team was going to tank by trading away so much talent. I think I'll wait and see how this offseason goes before I start judging.

/thread. The fact that he went out and got Benjamin is a big deal. It’s not Beanes fault that the qb couldn’t get him the ball

Well I can see how this thread is going! But I will chime in anyway.

I too think McDermott did most of the heavy lifting with the roster changes. Doug Whaley was more of a figurehead for the trades and the draft, McDermott was making the decisions. And Beane wasn't here.

Obviously Beane can't be blamed for not being hired. But he actually hasn't contributed a bunch yet.

Also, Beane recently made an awkward statement in my opinion. He said recently "we know we have to get younger in a lot of positions" in an interview.

Of course many will say that is fine. But he should have said get better at positions, not younger. Our oldest players include LeSean McCoy (30), Richie Incognito (35), center Eric Wood (32), Jerry Hughes (30) and kicker Stephen Hauschka (33).

I think his words do not sound very good to those guys. McDermott is smoother and wouldn't have put things that way.

I have heard talking heads mention how management has us going in the right direction.  I would agree that McDermott has been very involved and that McBeane has been a throw in on the compliments.

There were a couple of trades on his watch.  The success of those are still debatable.  I hope his relationship with McDermott will allow him to coexist peacefully with McD so we can continue to make forward progress.

This sentiment usually bounces around my noggin when I hear someone say how well HE has done.  This year he gets to earn the praise.

...yet the "One & Done Gang" has called for his ouster....apparently his trades/personnel moves have proven enough for them to determine he goes.....wasn't he hired AFTER the draft &FA?......hasn't he assembled a formidable staff of former VP's of Personnel and ex Pro Player Personnel Directors, one of which is already gone, ALL on Pegula's nickel?......isn't this FO shaping up (YES on paper) to potentially be one of the better ones post Polian with real FOOTBALL people in charge versus the patchwork gang of misfits in positions unqualified for or those past their prime despite being RE-TIRED?.....how about citing the last time Buffalo had this type of draft capital assembled going into a draft........Oh Canada.....OBD is no longer your father's Argos.....good Lord.......just keep waiting.........

For crying out loud. Don't throw in the towel now. The Bills have something solid to build on. I can hardly wait to see what happens in free agency and the draft.

16 catches thanks to Tyrod Taylor's dumb ***, and you KNOW THAT!!!

Our defense held Jacksonville WITHOUT DAREUS to 10 freakin points ON THE ROAD!!!! Quit dumping on Beane after less than a damn year and get serious. Your post is something a Jets fan could whip up and throw against the board... it's pathetic and ridiculous.

He has completely revamped the front office and made some great hires. One (Gaine) just took the GM job with Houston. He has accumulated draft capital with picks, he has shed salary and made tough decisions on some players. He has restored credibility to the front office and helped restore credibility to the franchise. I think he has proven much in his first year. Benjamin hurt his knee in his second game for God's sake. It's ok to be positive once in a while.
