ChevyVanMiller
Great points ranking of who the Bills met with at the combine by Dean Kindig (Astro). It’s predicated on how many coaches/GM were present and how many times they scouted them or are having them in for a 30 visit. Based on his research WR Roman Wilson and DL Kris Jenkins are two players to keep an eye on. https://buffalofambase.com/2024/03/04/combine-meetings-let-billsmafia-see-through-the-curtain/?fbclid=IwAR2tL-biGf0SAyJhh_wZKd08sdJxG41ZIlVRwypK2545u1Pj7zcWqf_xq2U Edited March 4 by ChevyVanMiller 9

Brandon
If I'm reading this right, this looks more like game attendance than individual meetings. The numbers are always the same for players from the same school. All three Texas players score 3. The two Michigan players score 15. The two Georgia players each score 7. Florida State...both score 6. I'm not sure it means much. 1

It makes sense that a school like Michigan (played more games than everyone else, had more NFL talent than everyone else, played against top notch Big 10 schools, and is a shorter flight for us to get to) would be at the top. I'd like to know more about where the points are coming from in some of these cases. For example, did we go specifically to scout Iowa (in which case, you can probably deduce that DeJean is a target) or were they simply playing against Michigan?

TheyCallMeAndy
I might be wrong, but in years past I’m pretty sure who they visited with and had on a pre draft tour didn’t actually wind up being a good indicator as to who they’d draft. Nice job for Astro all the same, though 👍🏼👍🏼 1

Lofton80
I think Astro's other write-ups and charts on that site are easier to follow. I am not sure how much correlation there is to the final picks but it is interesting. He puts a lot of time and effort into his "hobby".

They have no idea who the scouts, Beane, or Brady were there to see. I would be more interested in seeing when they met with specific players one on one and how much time they got with said player. Roman Wilson for example is not someone I think they Bills have over scouted to the degree his report suggests. He isn't very physical, is fast, but not "special" fast, isn't great with YAC, has durability concerns, and is a mediocre route runner. But yet he is supposedly the guy the Bills staff has scouted the most just because someone from our staff watched the National Champions play? This is a very flawed system. schoolhouserock
Ever had a shot of chartreuse? It’s like eating a bouquet of flowers. Maybe that’s why Astro named it as such?!
billsfan89
Kris Jenkins Father was an absolute beast one of the best DT’s I have ever watched in his best years in 2002-2003 he was completely dominant as he was both a pocket collapsing monster but also held the point of attack against the run. He had some injuries from 2004-2005 before turning in 3 more very good years from 2006-2008 and then injury cut his career short in 2009-2010 unfortunately. His son seems to be a different type of player more like a three tech quick hitter as opposed to a fast gigantic monster that his dad was. If the Bills draft him at 60 I would like the pick. Having two three techs that can really rush the passer is a good thing for the defense.

Florida State...both score 6. I'm not sure it means much. It means quite a bit. But yeah, it's not exact. And it will always be a little difficult to separate guys on the same team. But first, this group of guys is the one we met with at the combine. That alone is pretty big. And while some of the indicators are team indicators, some are individual. And others help narrow it down. There's an extra point if the offensive coordinator goes to an offensive player's game, and vice versa for defense. A meeting at the Senior Bowl isn't a team indicator, but gets points here. And as the process unfolds, Pro days and 30 visits will help make things more individual. All three Texas players score 3. Which is the among the lowest grades. That might be very indicative. The interview scores, obtained from Kindig's contacts around the league as I understand it, can also be indicative as the Bills really do value good interviews and football-smart guys. It's certainly not a be-all and end-all, but it can help. Edited March 5 by Thurman#1
