Tua impressing in Miami

Tua does what he needs to do. He gets the ball out quickly and they have two of the fastest receivers in the league. Hill and Waddle create so much separation. It’s almost an easy game for Tua.. just throw it up to them. One of them is always open. I know it sounds like I’m minimizing Tua, and I admit he’s doing a great job for Miami, but he has an amazing situation there with both Hill & Waddle.

Tua is somewhere between CJ Beathard, Nick Mullens, and Jimmy Garroppolo.....for the sake of making the obvious connection to the Shanahan offense.

Hill just can't seem to find the endzone though. Almost a 1,000 yards and only 2 TDs(Both in the same game). Easily on pace for his worst season in that regard. That's a ton of yards for only having 2 TDs. It's either he can't find the endzone or Tua keeps under throwing him and allowing defenders to catch up and tackle him. I've seen enough of him this year to know the answer to that question.

There has been a bit of that, definitely. I think there are some other factors too though. One is how he is used generally is a little different to how he has been used recently in Kansas City. It is a bit more like KC used him with Alex Smith as QB in 2017. He is doing a bit more stuff closer to the line of scrimmage than he has in the last few years. But also in the redzone with KC teams would generally try and double Kelce. I think Hill is seeing more attention in the redzone. He has only had 1 redzone target so far this season (and it was incomplete). He had 23 last year in KC.  Some of that is just the attention he gets down there.

In short, there are a number of factors as to why his touchdowns are down despite him leading the league in yards.

Yes and Jalen Waddle is the main one imo.

If a healthy Waddle was on the Bills we would probably score 60 points per game lol.

Jalen is excellent, no doubt. In the redzone teams are doubling Hill which is meaning single coverage for Waddle and Gesicki and why would you not throw to those two guys in 1v1? Waddle has the suddenness off the line to win early in the route and Gesicki has the size to box defenders out. If those two guys weren't there maybe they'd force it to Hill more in the redzone and he'd have more touchdowns. But they don't need to.

Tua: 18 TD, 3 INT

118.4 QB rating

71.0 completion percentage

70+ completion percentage in a seasons, the full list:

- Brees (multiple times)

- Rodgers

- Young

- Anderson

- Montana

- Baugh
And: Watson/Tannehill/Carr/Burrow/Cousins/Bradford

Is he on track to join that first group? Or is he part of that last group? (Fluke season, or captain check down types, or too soon to tell?). Is he basically late-career Drew Brees? All we

know now is he’s doing exactly what the Dolphins are asking him to do and it’s bringing some very impressive results.

if the season ends today, I’m voting for Tyreek Hill as MVP. But given that Waddle deserves some credit too, there’s a good chance Tua gets those votes.

Eh, completion % sucks as a stat. You can’t be below like 62% or something but you can rack up % points on a lot of safe throws. But Tua has been balling.

I'm happy for Miami and their fans. They have a bright young HC that has completely transformed their culture and Tua is a legit MVP candidate right now likely battling it out with Mahomes down the stretch in terms of who ultimately wins it.

Also I agree with Hill, he's posting insane numbers and can argue he's as much an MVP of the league as Tua is.

Will be very surprised if they lose more than one game the rest of the way and I think they sweep the Bills this year unfortunately.

Yes because they have a real HC, rising star QB and roster oozing with talent despite a bunch of injuries.

You know everything that misled fans and media claim this team is which is really depressing quite frankly.

Because I'm not a Miami fan, but I'm also not a hater because they are yet another team that has seemingly done a 360 in just one season with a new HC and other key roster changes.

But yet in Buffalo, the mafia keeps saying that we have to keep Beane and McD around no matter what like they are messiahs on hallowed ground that have delivered multiple SB wins to this franchise.

beast, you've done this over multipe forums under multiple names.  you consistently prop up miami and always tell us why the bills will fall apart.  how many years has this been?  and how many times have you been wrong?  you were savioredwards, saviorpeterman, highiq, etc.  do you think people are fools?

again...why not just talk football and stop with the man child nonsense.  if anyone can't figure out your schtick, i question their intelligence.

Well, I’m not a Dolphins fan and I don’t really care about their half-assed fan base.
But I do like what they’re doing,

particularly on offense, taking a successful trend in the NFL — speed

over power — to its absolute limit. There’s a single-mindedness to that approach that makes them fascinating to watch. And I did like Tua, even at Alabama, making him perhaps the only Alabama player in recent history that I’ve actually liked. Watching him fit perfectly with this offense so far is surprising. I think we’ll catch up to them in the second matchup. Either way it’s a compelling matchup.

We get it, you're a Dolphins fan, it's pretty obvious, but I guarantee you your team will lose more than 1 game the rest of the way. Next week they'll win their 5th straight game against a bad team, but then their schedule gets significantly harder. The Bills SHOULD be a lot healthier for the rematch and will hand the Fish their 3rd straight loss.

To be honest, my life is not that interesting. Have a lot of commitments with work given my career and position, family, etc. so barely enough time to post here as it is, let alone under multiple aliases. Pretty sure the forum moderators would have figured that out a long time ago too if that was the case.

Also I'm not propping anybody up, just giving due credit for a very quick turnaround in South beach and in hindsight dumping Flores was the right move despite the ridiculous accusations he made.

your time is limited, yet you spend most of your time one here discussing the phins?  i'm willing to guarantee that you've created more miami centric threads than anyone else.  so...are you saying you were never savioredwards, saviorpeterman or highiq?  even though all of those poster spoke on how miami was going to excel that season and buffalo would fall apart?  is that what you're saying?

Not that many weeks ago Miami tried to kill Tua more or less, then played their third string QB after the backup got injured and everything was falling apart. Now they will win the rest of their games and Tua is MVP worthy. Things change fast and will keep doing so.

I warned everyone not to overlook Miami all off season.  Kept saying that if Tua can just be solid or better that offense would be very dangerous with all that speed.  And while I don't think he is in the class of Allen and Mahomes talent wise, he is having a great season and a legit MVP candidate right now.

I hated the fact Miami picked up Jeff Willson, watched him play a lot with my my wife being a Niners fan and just loved how he plays.  He legitimately makes them a better team too.  I would have LOVED to have landed Wilson here.

I am not worried about the Jets, their lack of offense will be an achilles heal and they will drop some more games.  But Dolphins are a legit threat to win the division to us with us being 0-2 in the division right now.  We don't need to win the division to make the SB, but it would sure be better to play Miami at home than go to Miami to play.

You're pretty active on Twitter and ProFootball Talk comments.  You have ample time for Bills doom and gloom.

Lets face it.  You are the Uncle Ruckus of Bills fans  (no relation).
