Brandon
I don't necessarily like that one. He's not the greatest player in the world, but he's decent. Regardless, I think this means we can definitely expect significant investment in the OG spot this off-season.

MrEpsYtown
I am actually not surprised here. I think he could come back as a backup G/T. I would think they would be pursuing Austin Corbett. It makes a ton sense with Kromer here. James Daniels and Conor Williams are super high RAS guys who would fit as well. All three young and hungry guys.

Wonder if Kromer feels he can make something of Ford; he must, to part with Williams at this point. But....I did say that I did not think he was a guy to take a pay cut, he would say "give me a cut cut" Bills save $6.3M and take on $3.6M dead cap 1
gobills404
Good. $8 million per year made him the 12th highest paid guard in the league. He was decent down the stretch but no way is he worth that money. Edited March 14, 2022 by gobills404 1

D. L. Hot-Flamethrower
I think it was bound to happen, can't pay tackle money to him to play guard. When is Beasley move made? methinks it's coming soon 2

CapeBreton
I never understood the big contract he got last year, he was solid in 2020 for practically no money. Then gets paid big time for a year and then released. I was expecting a re-structure so this is interesting.

KingBoots8
Wow, that’s a shock. Hope he comes back on a more friendly contract, or he goes to the NFC. Definitely didn’t think we would shake the OL up after the end of last year
Ridgewaycynic2013
I thought a Williams has to be on the roster 24/7/365? 🤔 * EDIT: On second thought, just send the conditional draft pick penalty to New England, and release him. 🙁 Edited March 14, 2022 by Ridgewaycynic2013 1

RunTheBall
Only reason I'm mildly surprised is because of the dead cap hit. It will be interesting to see what Beane has in mind for the O-line
Magox
It’s another hole that will have to be filled. Departures/possible Departures QB - Trubisky RB - Breida, Taiwan Jones WR - Sanders, Beasley OL - Mongo, Darryl Williams,Boettger, Bates, Ford TE - Gilliam, Sweeney DL- Addison, Hughes, Obada, Butler, Star, Phillips LB - Klein, Matakavich DB - Levi Wallace That’s 21 possible departures with a high likelihood of somewhere between 15-18 of them not being on the squad next year. Thats potentially more turnover than we have had in years.

Coach Tuesday
2 minutes ago, Hapless Bills Fan said: Link, please? And maybe quote a para or 2 for those without subscriptions? Here ya go. "If the Bills move on from Williams, it could also signal that they would like to use more zone blocking principles. New offensive line coach Aaron Kromer, who most recently worked under Sean McVay with the Rams — an offense known for those principles. A zone blocking scheme favors athleticism ahead of power, needing the linemen to adapt and get to the second-level quickly or move off their spot to protect their area. Unfortunately, these are not Williams’ strengths. He is more of a power blocker with heavier feet than the rest of the offensive line. It’s also not McDermott’s first time hiring someone with a zone-blocking background. His first offensive coordinator hire, Rick Dennison, spent almost his entire career with Mike Shanahan. As a defensive coach, McDermott likely believes those offenses are extremely difficult to defend." Depends on how well they thought Doyle came on, I guess I would also guess they plan to try to bring back both Bates and Boettger. TBH, I think Williams leaves them room to sign McKenzie and do just that (bring back Bates and Boettger) But they could have an upgrade in mind. davefan66
So, that frees up enough money to sign a draft class. More moves to come for sure. Need to free up big money if we have any thoughts of signing Harrison Philips, or any one of our numerous free agents. Or whoever takes their place on the roster. Let alone going after big name FA’s. Lots of big moves coming.

Rigotz
Not a shocker at all. Extremely high paid Right Guard who isn't an extremely talented Right Guard. We paid him like a tackle because that's what he was. He gave us average play at both Tackle and Guard. Plenty of people saw this coming. PrimeTime101
because of Josh's arm, we could have one of the most dangerous screen games in the league...
