DieHardBillsFan
In both the steelers and Miami game he has been a revolving door or a holding penalty. machine gun kelly
Ok, for who? Ryan Bates. Spencer Brown, a rookie who is being groomed for LT. If you want to bench a guy, who is the upgrade replacement. He’s not having a great start, but was excellent last year. 10

machine gun kelly
Fair enough Karlos, but who’s better? Josh isn’t having a great start either, but no one is calling for Mitch right now. I just know if someone is calling for a benching, who is better? Or do you work with him and see how he can improve.
Solomon Grundy
I definitely don’t want to see Brown against the WFT. Maybe against the Texans if Williams don’t improve. Bates at guard for Mongo?

HardyBoy
They’re clearly not in game shape yet, and the timing with the receivers is off. They just played two top defenses, potentially top 50 historically good defenses, and should have won both games, with a struggling offense (that blocked punt team screwed things up). Give them a minute to figure out how they are being played and make adjustments. 1

uninja
I swear there's some kind of tell our offense has now that there's a year of game tape on them to dissect. Feels like most plays the dl knows how the protection is going to slide before the snap and defenses seem to be able to play coverage well enough to at least force Allen to his 3rd read and beyond. Not sure if we just played some great defenses and/or secondaries, or something else.

Nobody seems to be talking about a large chunk of last years O success coming on non- designed rollouts by JA and receivers breaking to the sideline. We have invested a ton on the D line in the last couple years draftwise. Maybe, the calculation, in part, is JA is young and mobile. I would like to see O line addressed early and repeatedly next draft. In the meantime, The Bills O isn’t surprising anyone this year. Can they adjust? We shall see but it’s gonna take a bit.

That one might be a bit of a stretch in terms of top 50, but as far as matchup problems for this Bills offense, I would say absolutely this would be one of the 50 hardest defenses for them to match up against in the history of the league (yes I know how much the game has changed).

While Spencer Brown is likely not ready at this point (although he has looked ahead of schedule in a very small sample), it is much more likely he is indeed being groomed as Williams' replacement at RT to be a bookend with Dawkins for years. Dawkins looked much better this week and he's signed through 2024. Dawkins is just 27 and most experts opine he's an above-average LT. It's much more likely Brown is there to eventually replace the older tackle with the shorter contract. 4

I thought Spencer Brown would be the right tackle of the future because of him having that reggie white strength he would be more fitted to handle alot of those bigger defensive ends that many teams use on the right side of the lines.

He might not be that far off with Pittsburgh, but it's a long shot based on Highsmith and players in the secondary beyond Fitzpatrick coming into their own. wjag
I'm not in the habit of making excuses, but I will say this. Buffalo OLINE played all game in the Miami heat, in the second game of the season. It's easy to forget that OLINE play 100% of the snaps while DLINE are typically rotated out throughout the game. Perhaps, just perhaps the OLINE were feeling the effects of an early season game, in the heat.

BigBuff423
I don't know why Williams is struggling yet, but I wonder if it has more to do with lining up with Ford next to him as opposed to last year? We hear, and observe, how crucial it is for line mates to play together to develop the chemistry needed to pass of stunts and blitzes, maybe this is one area that is a secret contributor to the challenges we've seen. Also, TJ Watt was DPOY for a reason, so those struggles made sense especially with it being the first game. But I expect to see marked improvement from game 2 to game 3, like we did from game 1 to game 2....they (Williams & Dawkins in particular) need to keep getting better. I'm just saying it's not a ludicrous notion that it could be. They have an insane amount of talent on defense and if it all. My opinon on the Dolphins D was pretty clear, but to be clearer, they are arguably not even top 10 this year. However, they were among the tops yardage-wise last year (pretty sure they were one when we laid a 56-spot on them).

machine gun kelly
I think D. Williams has a three year extension, but maybe they can release early if that is the assumption. Guys it’s two games. We waited for a solid RT for years and in January, everyone was convince it was Williams. The Brown as the next RT is news to me. I’ve read repeatedly he was groomed for swing tackle and maybe he is a RT, but in two weeks? How about everyone including me calm down and let them get into a groove. The team just blanked the fish by 35 and the defense looked great. How nice was it to see Wallace make a pick after a stupid taunting call? How nice was it to see GROOT and Epenesa play with power? How nice to see Oliver look like the guy we always wanted? There is so much to be happy about and we ran well. Allen will settle down. He played exceptional last year for 16 of 19 games including the playoffs. He’ll be fine.

Week to week team and player performance can vary. Hot streaks and cold ones. Williams has struggled, as has our franchise QB, but after two games I'm not going to worry, especially after a 35-0 W. Keep stacking up the wins early and get everyone peaking in December. That should be the target.. 1

Yesterday we destroyed the Dolphins while the O-line starters played close to 100% of the snaps in sweltering heat with 100% humidity. Last season, Williams was the best RT we've had in ages-- maybe 20 years. And now you want to bench Williams for... Spencer Brown, I suppose? Ryan Bates? By the way... did you notice how Dawkins played against the Steelers? Or Mongo? Why give them a pass? In my opinion, the O-line improved from week one, and will continue to improve as the season progresses, barring injury.
