This McDermott fellow is getting good at the coaching thing…I think he has a bright future.

The bigger test will be in Week 18 when we have the 1 seed locked up. Starters should not have been playing late vs the pats or at all vs Miami last year. Will he do the right thing and rest starters this year?

Of the infinite reasons that I love my wife, I texted her last friday and said “No Josh Allen tonight”.

Her reply; “He is our precious. We must protect him for the regular season”.

She IS a keeper!!!

Yeah, that's a data driven answer. But something that definitely needs to be looked at.

Id prefer we put Josh and co in bubble wrap.

What you said had me do just a little digging and it seems like 2020 had more injuries.  Now why that is could be any number of things.  Personally, the game takes a toll on the human body so keep em fresh

After Dawkins comes out pPlay Spencer Brown every snap at LT. Got to get him ready.

FTFY

Edit: You're right in that I know Dawkins will play. I just would not play him. I get his situation is different with recovering from COVID, but I would not play him if he was healthy, so I would not play him if he is unhealthy.

Coming up on 20 years.

She’s been to every home opener in that span with me. Used to drop me off at 7am at the meetup spot on home game sundays when I had seasons.  Picked my sloppy azz up at 2am after numerous primetime games.  Loves prepping & setting up for tailgates.

She is indeed a rare gem!

Weren't there a really high number of significant injuries to start the season last year? Or was that a misperception?

Yup.  Soft tissue injuries and Achilles tears, of all things.

I don't believe football lends itself to an "on/off switch" like the NBA.  That and NBA players play basketball all throughout the off-season.  They stay conditioned.

From TC thru the first 7 or 9 games, then the playoffs, lots of players dinged up last year on O & D, yet we swept the division, pretty damn good team aye…,

Go Bills!!!

Not going to lie, assuming that Allen doesn't play a down in preseason I'm going to be paranoid as a Mofo week one against the steelers for the simple fact that it seems a lot of major injuries always happen in the first few weeks of the season.

Also going against the Steelers defense and TJ Watt won't be easy especially if Dawkins isn't anywhere close to 100% or peak form.

One thing is for sure Daboll better not get cute or call many designed QB runs right out of the gate.

Dawkins won't see much of Watt over on the other side. Last year Daryl Williams spent 4 qrtrs beating him up and taking his lunch money.

I was with a bunch of Stillers fans and they were blown away. They were absolutely adamant that nobody had ever even come even close to man-handling Watt the way Williams did that entire game.

Good question. I don't know the correct answer.

I'd be interested to see data on league-wide injuries in 2020 vs other years.

My guess is they have looked at the data (though not sure there is really a large enough sample size) and they are acting accordingly, possibly even player by player.

Could explain why Oliver was playing for example.

Oh yeah, I don't think there's any reason to play Josh. I just wonder if not playing most starters a fair amount in preseason games might make injuries more likely?

If it was up to me Josh Allen would never play in a preseason game again.

Good. I want Josh Allen nowhere NEAR a Preseason quagmire

Give them the first quarter against the Packers and call it a preseason

Even better idea. Bubble wrap him against Packers and roll into week 1

As long as dion can play, and they start the rest of the OL, I’m ok with a quarter.

I'm honestly less worried about a QB being injured in preseason (especially a giant like Josh) than I am a WR, RB, or linemen. As long as Josh remembers it's preseason & doesn't try to hurdle or bulldoze anyone, I wouldn't freak out seeing him for a couple drives.

I really don't want to see Diggs out there though. Already worried about him making it through 17 games, especially after staying healthy through all 16 + postseason last year.

Agree. I think in the near future we will be at 18 regular season games/2 preseason with very few starters playing in the preseason.

Yep, this has been the plan all together waiting for the next CBA.  The next CBA might end up 18 games and might negotiate down to 1 preseason game and a couple of competitive practices.  Coaches seem to report they like those more anyway.

I’m fine with keeping everyone who was out last week, this week. It’s not like they’re not practicing.  It’s also not 1979 where they need two a days.

I hope they let Mitch just rip it though as would be a nice gesture for him to dissect his old team.  He’d probably love it.  Dawkins playing for a series is good, but I hope they take him out after and slowly let him build up his strength.  I trust those guys.  Spencer for hire or deadlifting given that Goliath can use all the reps possible so he can be the effective swing.  His first year he can most likely survive on raw power when needed.  I loved this pick as we have two excellent tackles and one that can be groomed who is a behemoth.  Perfect for a tackle, way too tall for a Guard.

My concern is Moss coming back too fast with the hammy.  Let him sit for another week, Devin and Breida carry the rock, and save Moss for next week.  17 games and a bye is a long season.  We need all 3 completely healthy walking into it.  My hope is we use Motor inside and Breida outside as well as some dump off passes.

From all the reports Josh has been tearing it up in camp. As long as that is true I don't need to see him on a pre-season field, ever. If he was having some uneven play in camp or looked rusty I'd feel differently and maybe one year that will be the case but for now, I am perfectly fine with him sitting. I would like to see them let Mitch throw it a few times this week though.

I wonder if he gets a series or two vs GB? At the same time I could see holding him out until week 1. Since their was no preseason last year and that worked out fine.

I think we will see fewer starters vs GB rather than more. I might be wrong but with a number of guys they need to rely on as functional depth getting nicked up in the game this week I suspect McDermott goes for the no risk approach.

I could see that. I think last year with no preseason games has influenced coaches in not playing the starters. Allen hasn't played at all in these games as proof of that. GB didn't played Rodgers vs the Jets this past weekend either.
