Popular Post Alphadawg7
I don’t know what Daboll was thinking today. He went back to the early in the season mindset and making head scratching calls, trying to force the run when it wasn’t there, too conservative at times, and went with too many called QB runs. We are a passing team, and when he turned it loose we moved the ball with ease. I really hope Daboll goes back to what we have seen all during the second half of the season. bigduke6
not sure this is on Daboll. both lines played like crap today, offense and defense. 8

Chaos
The bills did not seem to have any game plan at all today, on either side of the ball. Colts seemed much better prepared. We did not touch rivers once in the game, & needed a series of miraculous toe dancing catches by the rookie davis to win this game. 2

BillsFan130
You’re absolutely right. But I’m not too concerned about daboll as I think he’ll bounce back. The defence and Frazier is what really concerns me 5
TheCockSportif
For sure. This game was a major regression in so many phases. Still, a playoff win? That I will take. I'm sincerely hoping for much better results next week in the sense that I don't want to leave my home on a stretcher at the end of the game. 3

wvbillsfan
Hopefully it’s a lesson learned. Win or lose throw the ball get the lead. Then close the game out with the run. That’s been the formula. Not josh Allen running the ball on designed runs. Those are red zone only plays 6

BillsFanSD
If we had lost this game, there would have been grounds for all sorts of recriminations. The defense was brutal in the second half, and I agree with you that the offensive game plan didn't seem to make sense. In the first half, I get some of the running since we had such awful field position and were backed up pretty much the whole half. But that doesn't explain the second half. 4

BITE ME
It wasn't a great game for offensive play calling, but it is hard to get upset by a team that puts up 27 against the Colts when their game plan was to keep the offense off the field. They ran that clock down masterfully. Edited January 9, 2021 by BITE ME 3

Mark Vader
Too many designed running plays for Josh Allen. When Allen was passing, he was on. Daboll tried to do too much. 10
GunnerBill
I think it was one of the worst coached games of the McDermott era. And not necessarily Sean himself. I thought the plans by all 3 coordinators were mystifying. Why did we keep running Allen? Why did we keep blitzing Rivers on 3rd down? Why did we insist on the short kickoffs and the bringing out their kicks offs when struggling for Field Position? None of it made much sense. Now ultimately that is on Sean and he will take accountability I am sure, but the Bills had some strange plans. 14
SageAgainstTheMachine
It was likely the team's worst game overall since the first Pats game and yet we beat an 11-5 team and got the playoff monkey off our backs. There's nobody they can't beat.

The game did NOT look like a Daboll called game, and I'm sorry, but I really began to get nervous with all of the called QB runs. Yes, Josh is an added threat in the run game, but I felt like he leaned too heavily on them in a game that like you said, was ripe for Josh to attack them through the air...several of those runs were not only unnecessary, but I held my breath every time he got tackled...those defenders were clearly trying to make an example out of Allen. On that play where he fumbled, his knee came awfully close to being caught up underneath him... Hopefully Daboll got that out of his system and we see him get back on track next week...

Ethan in Cleveland
I get what the OP and others are saying on the play calling, but they did rip off some 8 and 9 yard runs too. Our offense was a huge concern, in large part due to the play calling. Our defense has been good and bad every week. Our offense has consistently carried us. It was just a sloppy game on both sides. We are lucky to get a win. We were outplayed and outcoached. JA made just enough plays to bail us out.
