I mean he was one of the only legit top tier player the Bills had for years during the drought. It was fun watching him & our ST pin people deep or completely reverse field position after our pitiful offenses did absolutely nothing. Was it because he was great? Or because the rest of the team stunk so bad? Pretty tragic when the highest player rating in Madden is your punter for 6 years
Bob in STL
McGuire was one of the best AFL punters and excelled in the clutch coffin corner kick. He also played linebacker. In college he played both ways at End and LB, he led the NCAA in receptions at the Citadel. Moorman was also a fabulous athlete and one of best punters in his era. These are the two best, from totally different eras. Edited November 21, 2020 by Bob in STL

Don Otreply
Punters? Are they really football players? Nitro
14 hours ago, Augie said: Goodness, quite the reach.....yet here I am. 🤷♂️ Moorman is the obvious answer. I’ll go with Paul Maguire. I believe he had a punt go up, get caught in the wind in the Rockpile and blow back for negative yardage. Things you’ll never forget. He was the punter in my formative years. My dad took me not only to the games, but I remember a trip to Sestak & Maguire’s back in the day for lunch. It’s partly the football, but often more the family times you remember. It’s a bond that goes deep. EDIT: Just looked it up and he died of a heart attack at the age of 51. That is WAY too early. Great Bill, liked him in the booth. Sad loss of a member of the Bills family. Latest Edit: It was Sestak who left us way too soon. Apparently Paul is still with us, I’m happy to hear. I met Paul. Funny guy and good story teller. He is my pick for favorite punter too.

My favorite is Colton Schmidt who was with the team during 2014-2017. They were NOT Glory years. During his 4 years he averaged 44.0 yards per punt with zero blocked. Miyagi-Do Karate
Moorman. He’s one of my all-time favorite Bills. One of my favorite memories is when he brought him Back after we cut him in 2013. In his first punt back, the crowd went nuts. He then proceeds to hit this coffin corner kick that goes out of bounds inside the 1/2 yard line. The crowd was beside itself. The TV announcers were all confused, saying, “um, I’ve never quite heard a Reception like this for a punter.”

Yes, and I remember Paul talking about "shanking" a punt as well....so, those of you who can't believe Cory B did that last week need to know that shanking is a punters nightmare, cause it happens sometimes, especially on windy circumstances. I wonder what punter had the longest term w the Bills. I think John Kidd was here 9 years....a good run. Moorman was here, then in Dallas, but back here? I cant' recall the detail. Albany,n.y.
I didn't get to WNY until 1971, so Maguire was before my time, but my best memory of him was in 1986 he was on the NBC pregame show. At one point in the season the Jets were 10-1, and he said they wouldn't win another game that season. The Jets lost their final 5 games and every week Maguire would get an I told you so moment.
