Hail to the Breadsticks.

This would be the greatest troll in sports history. You want ridiculous? I'll show you ridiculous. Snyder would go from a heel to a legendary heel, Iron Shiek-tier.

I find this sort of behavior annoying. I hope they go out of their way to avoid paying this tool a cent, even if the new name is trash.

I mean yeah it's annoying but at the same time it's their own damn fault.

In keeping with traditional saying and chants

HTTR will be retained is my guess.

Hail To The Redtails will still have that "ring" to it

In keeping with my redskin potato suggestion, I have revised the lyrics for their fight song. This could tie into their concession sales and they could get Ore-Ida to be their new sponsor...

OLD (Original) LYRICS:

Hail to the Redskins!
Hail Victory!
Braves on the Warpath
Fight for old D.C.

Run or Pass or Score
We need a lot more
Beat 'em Swamp 'em Touchdown
Let the Points Soar
Fight On, Fight On 'til you have won
Sons of Washington

Hail to the Redskins!
Hail Victory!
Braves on the Warpath
Fight for old D.C.!

Scalp 'em Swamp 'em
We will take 'em Big Score
Read 'em Weep 'em Touchdown
We want heaps more!
Fight On, Fight On, 'til you have won
Sons of Washington

Hail to the Redskins!
Hail Victory!
Braves on the Warpath
Fight for old D.C.!

NEW LYRICS:

Hail to the Redskins!
Hail Tastily!
Spuds on the Stovetop
Food for old D.C.

Roast or Peel or Core
We need a lot more
Beat 'em Mash 'em Down 'em
Let the Carbs Soar
Eat On, Eat On 'til you have none
Sons of Washington

Hail to the Redskins!
Hail Tastily!
Spuds on the Stovetop
Food for old D.C.!

Scallop 'em Smash 'em
We will take 'em Gimme More
Fry 'em Bake 'em Down 'em
We want heaps more!
Eat On, Eat On, 'til you have none
Sons of Washington

Hail to the Redskins!
Hail Tastily!
Spuds on the Stovetop
Food for old D.C.!

Key from statement: “Dan Snyder and Coach Rivera are working closely to develop a new name and design approach that will enhance the standing of our proud, tradition rich franchise and inspire our sponsors, fans and community for the next 100 years. “

Basically if a good name $nyder gets credit, if a bad name Rivera gets blame and $nyder bashes criticizers for unfair comments on minority (Rivera)"

I wonder if Rivera agreed to this when he took this contract.

This is kinda scummy, but it's what Snyder deserves for waiting soooo long to come around on the name change. He shouldve seen this coming and been proactively working towards the change. Waiting until he was absolutely forced to is going to cause him problems. Good.

This is true but at the same time you'd have to think it's a marketing /merchandising dream.

All those fans that have all the redskins gear could end up being criticized the same way the team has been for the name and logo so they'll feel obligated to buy new gear.

At least I feel like a bunch of them would.

Another reason why Snyder should have done this YEARS ago

The Washington Americans could have some sick unis and they get to stick it to the Cowboys.

it would be a win-win.

Yes it would.

“D.C. American Football Club”, “Americans” for short.

That’s what I’d do.

I've heard the idea of the D.C. Football Club floated, and it is far and away my favorite idea.  Super original and interesting.

It's definitely going to be the Warriors or something similarly mundane though.

It’s definitely a chance for something fresh and different.

‘Warriors‘ would be super stale. But as long as it’s not “Wizards” again lol.

Washington Warriors or Redhawks would keep the Native American theme going but be less offensive.

How is a species of bird within a Native American theme?

Either way, I think they'd be smart to stay away from any and all Native American imagery completely. Just move on to something neutral.

The Redhawks would be like the Seahawks. Nothing offensive there, except those bright green color-rush unis

They've already said they're won't be any native american imagery in their logos and merchandise, so seems unlikely to me that it'll be related to native americans at all.

I think if it were going to be Warriors, we'd already know about it. I don't really foresee them picking one of the fan concepts either.

I live in the DC metro area in Maryland. One report of the name change is that the organization wants to change the name to the Red Wolves but have to work out an agreement with Arkansas State Univ. whose nickname is also the Red Wolves.

if it’s the red wolves then I would say the name was leaked to gauge the reaction.

Yeah.  That’s where my money would be.  I popped over to one of the fan sites and that’s the only name with a buzz.  Allegedly there’s been some communication between the team and Arkansas State who use Red Wolves as their mascot.  Nothing in stone obviously, but Red Wolves looks likely.

My thought is that it was the Warriors based on riverboat Ron’s statement about talking to Native American groups and the military, along with a trademark dispute. I figured the dispute was with Golden State.

but I don’t believe they would be so careless as to not register the name before that Alexandria lawyer did. That does not seem right at all.
