Bills trade for Diggs - jw no discussions on a restructure

Thanks for pointing this out.  I am sure the poster did not know you get a player with a draft pick.  Deep insight!

I know it seems like a Captain Obvious explanation, but when someone says, "I hate losing a 1st to get him," it becomes necessary to spell out the logical fallacy in that statement.

A lot of peoples calls Diggs a diva because of his conflict with Cousins last year but Thielen was mad and fed up too...and this is something that looks forgot by some peoples specially some salty Vikings fan who lost him and act like they don’t care but your other receiver critized your QB in the media too...??‍♂️

I’m not worrying about it, it’s all the about the relationship that will be built between Josh and Stefon and I’m confident about it, our QB is a « liked guy » ;)

Um you lose a first round pick every time you use it to draft a player.  We essentially just drafted a proven stud and top 10 WR with our first round pick in Diggs.

Draft pick = 1 player.

Instead of drafting an unproven player at same position who statistically odds are won’t ever be as good as Diggs, we drafted an elite proven talented instead in Diggs.

So why do you hate “using” our first to get 1 PROVEN player vs using the same first to get 1 unproven rookie at same position who most likely won’t ever be as good as Diggs?

This is like when the Bills have up 2 firsts for Watkins.

Good thing you're "just joshin". Otherwise that would be a real stupid comment.

Yes, people keep acting like we lost a first.  Its baffling how they see it when we do this.  We were "losing" our first this year to acquiring a player, which we now know was targeted to be a WR.  One way or another, the first pick was going to be used on a WR.  Beane "drafted" a 26 year old proven stud who is already a top 10 WR instead of a rookie who crapped the bed at his pro day for instance.

No one should be upset we "used" our first to acquire Diggs when we were already going to use our first to draft the 4th or 5th rated unproven rookie WR, who most likely based on statistical history of the draft wont ever be as good as Diggs.

That is hilarious. Can't wait to see him on Sundays.

I just hope Josh Allen continues to progress. This is the year of no excuses for Allen. If he looks bad it might be time to look elsewhere. Other than that I'm excited to see what other additions come via  the draft.

Whenever I see this I think to myself "is this just BBFS" because I just don't see any logical reason to believe he won't be even better next season -- and he wasn't "bad" this year!  JA puts in all the work, he's smart, and he learns from his mistakes.  He has the consistency of the same OC and the Bills are giving him weapons.

It's time to expect the Bills to be very, very good.

Yes!!  He better look better;  however,  if he looks like last year, he’s safe.  He needs more games like the Steeler and Miami games. Only reason to look elsewhere is if his arm falls off. Go Bills!!!

If he causes trouble, you cut him. He’s got no guaranteed money from the Bills at present.  Like how they wanted to do with Brown, but he refused.

I understand your point Doc.  Reality is even if Diggs has trouble fitting in with the Bills O his contract is so team friendly he could be dealt

for a draft pick easily.  Teams would jump for a 2nd at least.

How do you guys think Stefon Diggs will match up against Stephon Gilmore’s and Byron Jones’ of the division? Is he good enough to produce against the upper echelon of corners?

Anyone can burn gilmore. What is this crap

Typical Buffalo fan afraid of getting elite talent syndrome

My main point was this is all contingent on Allen. Cleveland loaded up on talent last year, and was supposedly Super Bowl-bound. Didn't work, as Mayfield took a step back. Also, it wasn't just a 1st rounder for Diggs-- it was a bunch of picks (including next year's 4th-- you can get a good player there). Also tough when looking at the Hopkins trade.

This year's draft is receiver-rich. The Bills could have picked an edge rusher in the 1st, and then picked a good receiver in the 2nd. I don't dislike the trade. It is clear Beane and McDermott see an opportunity to "go for it" now. Hopefully it pays off in a big season.

This STILL hasn’t gotten old! We all were that kid once, but few of us ever experienced our favorite non-Bill being traded to Buffalo.

Honestly had 3 such occurrences. First was Bryce Paup. I was young and he was my favorite non Bill. I wore number 95 when i was young in his honor. Then it was Chris Speilman. The Lions were on TV a lot and he was probably my favorite linebacker. outside of Bills and Reggie White, Paup and Speilman were my favorite defensive players. Finally it was Drew Bledsoe. Post Kelly, Bledsoe was my favorite quarterback in the league. I even had a Bledsoe Pats jersey as a youngster.  When he got traded to the Bills I was already like 18 but I had the same reaction as this kid.

I still don't understand how so many people place such high value on draft picks. Even the Top 5 picks can be disappointments. After that, most players drafted don't succeed or under deliver compared to expectations. PROVEN players are worth way more than draft picks!

I sure remember the day Paup and Spielman were there. I had a poster with them and Bruce.

Allen gave both Brown (over 1000 yards) and Beasley career years at the same time, while ending the season a markedly better QB than he was in the first quarter of it.

He will be better next year too.

Josh may wind up not being the answer, but Diggs will be incredibly productive either way. Allen will be more consistent getting him the ball than the Vikings offense was

Yep.. this could be similar to Moulds/Price. Both Brown and Diggs could have over 1,000 yards. Both guys are gonna open up the field for each other.  Gonna be tough to stack the box... which also means Beasley or a TE underneath, or Singletary...

The fact that we have a #1 WR really should do wonders for our offense. Should be fun!

We need to let Allen throw more.  He was 36th in the league in pass attempts per game at 28.....just above Mason Rudolph.

He needs to be in the top 10 at about 37 pass attempts per game.

He's got the weapons and specifically a #1 now.  Lets throw the ball more.

stats be damned. Lets get the Yac stat though

 ypc and pats too

Josh is 23. He has improved each year. Thank you Beane for giving him the weapons. No reason to think he’s close to his ceiling.

If teams are afraid to drop safeties into the box because we have serious weapons, and that opens up the run......pound it down their throats. If they creep up to stop the run.....beat them with the pass, long or short.

I don’t want to emphasize a particular philosophy, I just want to be adaptable for every situation and WIN!!!!

That’s what the Pats* have wisely done in recent years. Play it smart, do what you are not ready for.

Big question now is if the Bills sign Gordon or Hyde (which means RB is off the table in the 2nd round)........................

Are the Bills going to be serious about bringing in his brother on draft day?

CB2 quietly could still be a position of need.

This is interesting.

The Bills are going all in RIGHT NOW because they know Allen is not going to get a second contract and if they are ever going to do anything with the team to justify their jobs, it has to be NOW.

So they are loading up everything they can and gearing up for one (or 2) massive roll(s) of the dice.

I think this was a great trade overall.  I remember watching the Vikings-Broncos game last year and thinking how great would it be if the Bills and Josh Allen had a receiver like Diggs!

Diggs gets much more separation and has a much bigger window than most receivers out there.  Just compare to Beasley who has a much smaller window, can't jump up for balls nor burn past defenders.  Great against the zone but not so much man to man.  Diggs has all of that and can beat his defender one on one.

Had this been a couple years ago and the Bills gave up all those draft choices, then this may not have been that great a deal.  But now - it is a great deal.  Bills are primed to win now and don't worry about 2-3 years from now, worry about that later.

What the ..??

Maybe YOU know, but nobody else does -especially not OBD. I’ve never heard of a team ‘going all in’ with a QB they “know is not getting a second contract”.

As my son reminds me, Diggs didn't like playing with Cousins so will he like playing with a (thus far) lesser accomplished quarterback in Allen?

who knows what allen is going to be like this year. if makes as much improvement as he did from year 1 to 2 he'll be fine
