Will Buffalo add at least 3 “quality” receivers?

Personal opinion, but I believe the Bills will add three receivers of at least replacement level production.

I could see them looking to replace or at least challenge the skill sets of each of Foster, McKenzie, and Williams

Obviously not sure if it’ll be draft free agency or trades, but I think they go hard at the position to add youth and depth behind Brown & Beasley.

I mean...they better. Prob won't be hard either.

We need a WR that is better then Smoke Brown so he can assume the role of the number 2 guy (immediately....we dont have time for a rookie to learn the offense)

We need a developmental WR with HUGE upside that is good enough now to be the number 4 guy

(Vet WR)

Smoke

Beasely

(WR prospect)

Deathmatch of the JAGS behind them for a roster spot

McKensie is an RFA.  Originally drafted in the 5th round - I think we can either tender him at $2M or league minimum.  If the latter, no compensation if he leaves.

Foster is an ERFA.  If we tender him 1 yr at league minimum, he stays.

Point being neither of them will be here to be challenged unless the Bills take some action, so we need receivers from somewhere.

Duke is signed through the next 2 seasons.

I think Beane planned it that way too.

All the WRs except Brown and Beasley are replaceable. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Beane bring in a bunch of players. What I disagree with is the idea that we need some big proto-freak WR opposite of Brown. We certainly have enough smurfs, but the “open when covered” thing is overplayed. We need guys who can separate and have elite traits (plural). Size is just one trait, and it’s useless without others (ref Benjamin).

While I agree we need more firepower I think as fans we might be disappointed when it’s all said and done.
Of course I want to grab an elite veteran talent via free agency or trade, but we may end up with just another mid tier guy. I’m also not sold they will spend a first on a receiver if the top 2-3 guys are gone.
What we want them to do and what they may do could be entirely different. Which of course will be riot status after the draft on here

I just don't see us bringing in 3 relevant WR's.  Sure, more will get added for camp bodies, but I am talking guys who legit are competing for a spot.  I really think its going to be 2 at most and then they will look at TE, RB, and OL to help bolster the rest of the offense.

At the end of the day, 3 WRs are near roster locks in Smoke, Cole, and Roberts (who just made another Pro Bowl as a KR).  They aren't trying to go 7 WRs on the active roster come week 1.  So they really are looking for a starter next to Smoke and Cole in either a top WR rookie prospect or an important trade (Diggs) or free agent signing (AJ Green).  Once they have which ever one of those, they will probably add another rookie in the draft too.  If they trade for Diggs, then that rookie likely wont come until day 3.  If they sign AJ, then I think they still go rookie WR in first 3 rounds given Greens age and injury history.  And if they elect to address WR only in draft, I think its a near lock to go WR in first 2 rounds and then maybe another one on day 3.

I doubt they add 3 premium WR's.  They still have guys like Foster, McKenzie, Duke and they seem to like Nick Easley's potential too to battle for the 5th WR spot.

For me, our WR room is going to look like one of 3 ways come camp (besides the camp body types)

  1. Diggs, Brown, Cole, and Roberts with spots locked down...with Foster, McKenzie, Duke, and maybe either Easley or a day 3 drafted rookie.
  2. AJ Green, Brown, Cole, high profile rookie taken in first 3 rounds, Roberts, and then the other guys battling to try and justify to keep a 6th guy.
  3. Brown, Rookie (from 1st/2nd round), Cole, Roberts and then maybe a 2nd rookie along with Foster, McKenzie, Duke, and maybe Easley battling for the final spot.

2 or 3 starting-caliber receivers sounds about right. The current guys behind brown and beasley will either be retained for depth or let go. My guess is the ones that can play special teams stay.

I couldn't agree with you more.  I expect Beane to try to address DE and WR in the first two rounds.  I think the order will depend on who he was able to sign in free agency.  The wild card in all of this may be a talented guy slipping to them in another position of need.  Regardless of who is selected, the "woe is me" crowd will appear to trash the selections. I find the rants entertaining.

Roberts isn’t necessarily a lock by any means. What confuses me is why Roberts didn’t fill McKenzies role... They’re both quick guys that are dangerous reading the field. Pick one.... My opinion is Reagor and/ Bowden could make both cut candidates.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see DE and CB with the first two picks followed by 2 WRs and a RB. McD would jizz his pants to add say Epenesa and Bryce Hall (who could drop due to injury).

What??

top quality additions will include at a minimum

3 WRs

2 TEs

3 offensive lineman

a power RB

And the D will obtain 8 or 9 quality players in the offseason

hope  the Bills are paying attention to those fans in here demanding these easy improvements

I like Perriman in free agency plus a draft pick somewhere in the top 3 rounds.

Perriman is a former 1st round pick with great size (6'2" 215lbs) and elite 4.25 speed. He hasn't shown much until the end of this season when he dominated a few games as a #1 when Evans and Godwin were out, so hopefully he will be available at a reasonable rate. If the price is right I think he is worth the risk.

If not Perriman maybe a receiver who becomes available for a trade. Cooper and Green don't seem worth the risk of their big contracts.

My guess is two, but I could see three if they have a good opportunity.

They have Smoke, and he's likely somewhere around 22nd best in the league give or take three or four. Certainly not elite, but he's clearly a #1.  If they can get someone even better, that'd be great, but what they really need is someone who's genuinely good, a strongish #2 to take reps away from our guys like McKenzie and Foster. A second guy who's an upgrade from last year's third and fourth guys would serve as depth and allow them to use four WRs in various situations.

If they got three, a reasonable guess on how they'd do that would be a mid-priced FA somewhere in the Beasley-Brown pay level, a guy from the first two days of the draft and a guy from somewhere around round 5. And that guy isn't likely to immediately be significantly better than McKenzie et al.

As has been said many times, it's be nice if they could get at least one of the top two guys to have a skillset we don't have so much of on this team, a contested catch specialist, a strong guy for over the middle work or a second speed guy to work opposite Brown.

You still talking about the mistake I made in the other thread? Dude, you can't bother me a bit with that. If there's one thing about me, it's that if I make a mistake, I acknowledge it, long and loud. Go back to the thread, you'll see I already admitted I was wrong. And I was wrong. Badly.

Having said that, is it so important to you that you're pursuing it to another thread? That's kinda sad, to be honest. You never made a mistake?

But I should end the post again saying that I made a mistake. Must've been totally exhausted to be that stupid.

It is my “guess” that they will target a couple of high level #2 WRs, who they are, god knows. Beane and Mc D have stated such things in past PCs about not specifically needing a “#1” to be successful, and I believe that is the road they will go down. This will be much to the disappointment of many here, but it seems to be the Beane way. Although, I’ve been wrong before. We shall see. This off season is such a pivotal point In the Bills growth going forward, its exciting to watch it unfold.

Go Bills!!!

Not sure why they’d be comfortable with Roberts other then when he is returning punts. Guy is useless as a receiver.

McKenzie makes a solid 5 option, and I like Duke as the 6th.

They need a #1 and a high developmental guy via the draft.

It's possible that whoever they sign or draft could also be a punt & kick returner. Also, it looks like the new agreement with the players union calls for 2 more game day slots.

Roberts is going nowhere. Bojo will be gone. House stays. No way we risk signing injury prone AJ Green. Love to have Amari but he's going to cost too much. Perriman is not a horrible idea as long as we draft at least one wr early.

We should not go all in on the WR position unless the goal is to destroy Josh Allen like Ryan Grigson destroyed Andrew Luck. We have many holes to fill with the aging out of Gore, Lorax and soon Jerry Hughes. Our OL is far from a finished product as well

Huh?  How exactly does adding more receivers destroy Josh Allen?  This statement makes no sense

Define "quality" receivers.

I don't think the Bills will get Amari Cooper in free agency.  They might be interested in AJ Green, who hasn't played in forever.  Outside of those guys, you have mostly fringe starters who would be competing for snaps.  Not looking at the #1 starting spot.  They also may use their #1 pick on a WR.  But I could just as easily see them waiting until the 2nd-3rd, considering how deep this draft is at the position.

Bottom line.  I think they add 3 WRs at some point during the offseason, but not all of them are going to be competing for immediate snaps or considered significant upgrades.
