I feel bad for Rosen / Fitz. Surely Oliver will get a sack against their sorry oline.

I hope he doesn’t hurt Rosen on the first sack, because he could play a little catch up on his sack totals if Rosen stays In!

I probably would have called you crazy if you told me that he would still be without a sack through 5 games. I think he’s due.

Of course I want him to get it, but I want his first one to be good, too.

Not just him running into the QB at the right time.  I want him to literally eat the Olineman in front of him and drop the QB like a sack of potatoes*.

* but just remember not to land on the QB.

I wonder if teams are keying on him, preventing him from getting sacks.

Either way, I expect him to get 2 against the fish.

On two of our sacks vs the Titans - the Zo one and the third Jordan Phillips one - Ed Oliver was doubled leaving his fellow DT (Zo was in at DT in their rush package on the play he got the sack) with a 1 on 1 to win and they did just that.

EDIT: and on the third Phillips sack, Oliver beat the double team too and was at the Quarterback about half a tick after Phillips. Had Jordan not already got there that would have been Ed's sack.

This is awesome. Did you see the interview he did this week? The guy is so real, I love it.

He's like, "Yeah it was cool being home in Houston. but Grandma is using my old bedroom now, so I don't have my own bed. I want to go back to my house in Buffalo."

Too funny, I love that dude. He is going to be a fixture here for years to come.

Not saying he's Aaron Donald, but Donald only had 1 sack through his first 5 games and then finished his rookie year with 9.

I see him more as a John Randle. Once he learns how to break off and separate there'll be a big jump in sack numbers.

The most effective thing for a pass rusher to do is hit the QB as he is releasing the ball or be right in his face as he is throwing it. Those cause turnovers. Sacks are nice, but if Oliver never gets a sack but causes tons of turnovers because of his pressures, that's a huge success.

I thought on one sack that Oliver should have been given a 1/2 sack.  He beat the double team and got there just a split second after Phillips but Oliver still cleaned it up too.

I had thought he was gonna get a half there as well.

Yea that was the third Phillips sack. I think he was already in Phillips' arms and moving towards the ground when Ed joined the party.

We think alike and that's beautiful.

I was at the game and live, I thought it was all Oliver and I started celebrating in the crowd.  Then it wasn't him so I sat down.

Funny part was I had been drinking and I started calling Jordan Phillips, Zach Thomas for some reason.  I have no idea why that name came out.

I was a Bills fan screaming "Great job Zach!"

I won't dispute the facts. He may be winning these pass rush opportunities but he has not translated them into impact plays. We have all watched the games and I can think of only a handful of impact plays.

What I am most impressed with though, is how he has held up in the rush defense. I was worried more about getting gashed up the middle than a lack of interior pass rush. He, Star, and Phillips have really done well at the point of attack.

If he is truly winning at this rate, then the impact plays should come. Hopefully he stays fresh and doesn't hit the rookie wall.

Have a feeling that he will get a couple verse the Phins. Pick your poison when Oliver and Phillips are in. Oliver was the right pick and will only get better with time.

You also gotta know that Jordan Phillips is going to go HAAM on the Phins. Dude still has a grudge against his former team, and he will be amped to match up against that putrid O-line!

I have to disagree there.  When he penetrates the interior, that makes a major impact.  It moves the QB off of his spot, they can't step into the throw and it allows other defensive players to close in on a sack or get a clean up sack.  Gives them more one on one (juan on juan if you're hispanic) match ups.  He has to be accounted for on every play.

Every time he draws a double team, someone else has a one-on-one opportunity. THAT can have a direct impact.
