FilthyBeast
4D chess by Daboll and Schoen to screw the Bills! Â In all seriousness though, this is a very questionable move by KC giving up that much for a guy who some have already wrote off as a bust (including the aforementioned new Giants regime obviously). SCBills
That's legitimate compensation being sent out by the Chiefs for Toney.  Does this foretell anything in regards to OBJ's mindset? I've always thought the Chiefs and Rams were the main competition for him. Maybe Ravens, but he'd be a fool to go there on a prove-it deal.   I liked Toney coming out of Florida, but he's been a highlight here or there followed by no production and injuries.   Edited October 27, 2022 by SCBills

thenorthremembers
Personally think its a good pick up.   You get a very talented 1st round pick from a year ago, for at least 2 1/2 more years on a rookie deal.    The guy may be mindless, but he can play football. Its a low risk high reward trade for them.

Big Blitz
I guess we weren’t interested  Essentially a 3rd RD pick for a former 1st RD just over a year ago.   And it will be a high 3rd RD pick somewhere in the high 80s - 90s.
Logic
For those saying Toney is a bust... He has not failed to produce for TALENT reasons. Health and attitude are major question marks, but he is extremely physically talented. He reminds me of Percy Harvin in his prime. IF he can stay healthy and learn the playbook, he'll be a playmaker for them. Big "if", though. 1

If the Bills inquired I'm sure they would have told the Bills the truth about the player. 1

Nineforty
I paid attention to Toney when he was on my fantasy team and they were targeting him a bunch, and I remember thinking this guy is legit/dangerous with the football. And then he disappeared.  From a football standpoint and what his skillset is, this is a great addition for KC in my opinion.
SCBills
If we were to trade for a letdown of a RD1 Pick, I'd rather see if a couple Day 3 picks gets it done for Jerry Jeudy.  KT, for as talented as he is, isn't a deep speed threat. Jeudy is.
nbbillsfan
Yup, big takeaway for me is that Chiefs must know they are out on OBJ. Really think it means he is headed to Buff or Back to Rams. Outside chance of Chargers if he wants to stay in SoCal and doesn't believe in Stafford/Rams and their offer remains trash.

Toney has talent, for sure. However a poor attitude, poor work ethic or injuries have stalled many careers of players far more talented. And he has been reported to have ALL 3 of those red flags.

If you're talking Juju or MVS it's really early to chalk them up as a success yet. Lev Bell? Shady? Kelvin Benjamin? Josh Gordon? This is a desperation move that the Chiefs seem to swing and miss on every year. Nothing to see here.  The Giants are starting David Sills at WR. There is no way they would let Toney go for a late 3rd at BEST in a season that they are pushing for a possible playoff spot in the weak NFC if Toney was that much of a gamechanger on a consistent basis. He isn't someone I expect to beat teams over the top very frequently.

Big "if", though.  He reminds me of Percy Harvin too... but I think Percy Harvin is one of the most overrated players to have played in the NFL in the last two decades. Toney is fast. He can make you miss in a phone box. However, he is yet to demonstrate he can play wide receiver in the NFL effectively.  The story on him coming out was that Florida got him the ball in ways that accentuated his talent and just got him in 1v1s because even in college learning plays and understanding the offense wasn't really his bag. Those who were particularly low on him (and listen I quite liked him as a day 2 guy... just didn't think he belonged in round 1) made the point then that it is hard to do in the NFL where everyone has talent.  If there is any team that can make it work with a speedy gadget guy who doesn't know the plays and doesn't really run routes it might be Kansas City with Mahomes and Reid. I can see the attraction for them. But I would suspect that there are heavy conditions on that 3rd round pick. Because at this point there is a fair chance that this league is just beyond him either because he isn't able to get the mental part down or isn't willing to put in the work to do so.  Potentially high reward but for a 3rd round pick pretty high risk unless the conditions are designed to mitigate that risk.

Toney, on paper since he’s always hurt, might be their most talented receiver now.  Hill the scumbag changes how defenses played KC. They are still really good but it hurts them against top defenses like ours. This is the Rams problem as well. Defenses can squat on underneath stuff without the fear of being torched.
