Kadarius Toney to the Chiefs for picks

I paid attention to Toney when he was on my fantasy team and they were targeting him a bunch, and I remember thinking this guy is legit/dangerous with the football.  And then he disappeared.

From a football standpoint and what his skillset is, this is a great addition for KC in my opinion.

4D chess by Daboll and Schoen to screw the Bills!

In all seriousness though, this is a very questionable move by KC giving up that much for a guy who some have already wrote off as a bust (including the aforementioned new Giants regime obviously).

Those picks are basically 4th and 7th rounders. Dude is made of glass but they bought cheap on a 1st round talent to play with Pat Mahomes. I would be fine with the Bills making a similar move.

It’s a great trade for both teams.

Chiefs get a cheap 1st round talent lotto ticket.

Giants taking a page out of the McBeane playbook and getting rid of malingerers asap while winning.

Agree. Timing of the move is odd considering Juju is coming off back to back good games and MVS went for over 100 last week I believe.

I think it speaks a bit to Skyy Moore being a bit of a disappointment for them so far this year. Toney has talent, for sure. However a poor attitude, poor work ethic or injuries have stalled many careers of players far more talented. And he has been reported to have ALL 3 of those red flags.

Toney has loads of talent and can certainly change games.

Chiefs get him in year 2 of his rookie deal which is significant for them.

Tyreek lite basically if things go well.

I don't really see Tyreek in his game, he isn't so much a deep threat he's a YAC specialist.

Agree 100%. Toney was a sunk cost and they got rid of him before it sunk lower.  Cut the deadweight and elevate.

The Chiefs have had good success with guys like this unfortunately

I'm curious to know who you mean, exactly? If you're talking Juju or MVS it's really early to chalk them up as a success yet. Lev Bell? Shady? Kelvin Benjamin? Josh Gordon? This is a desperation move that the Chiefs seem to swing and miss on every year.  Nothing to see here.

The Giants are starting David Sills at WR. There is no way they would let Toney go for a late 3rd at BEST in a season that they are pushing for a possible playoff spot in the weak NFC if Toney was that much of a gamechanger on a consistent basis.

He's got a crap attitude but he's as close to tyreek as anyone who's come out the last few years.

Tyreek ran a 4.29 40, Toney ran a 4.39 40. He does NOT have top 1% speed like Tyreek does. He's certainly fast but more shifty than speedy. Toney is a matchup problem with the ball in his hands. He isn't someone I expect to beat teams over the top very frequently.

For those saying Toney is a bust...

He has not failed to produce for TALENT reasons.

Health and attitude are major question marks, but he is extremely physically talented. He reminds me of Percy Harvin in his prime.

IF he can stay healthy and learn the playbook, he'll be a playmaker for them. Big "if", though.

He reminds me of Percy Harvin too... but I think Percy Harvin is one of the most overrated players to have played in the NFL in the last two decades. Toney is fast. He can make you miss in a phone box. However, he is yet to demonstrate he can play wide receiver in the NFL effectively.

The story on him coming out was that Florida got him the ball in ways that accentuated his talent and just got him in 1v1s because even in college learning plays and understanding the offense wasn't really his bag. Those who were particularly low on him (and listen I quite liked him as a day 2 guy... just didn't think he belonged in round 1) made the point then that it is hard to do in the NFL where everyone has talent.

If there is any team that can make it work with a speedy gadget guy who doesn't know the plays and doesn't really run routes it might be Kansas City with Mahomes and Reid. I can see the attraction for them. But I would suspect that there are heavy conditions on that 3rd round pick. Because at this point there is a fair chance that this league is just beyond him either because he isn't able to get the mental part down or isn't willing to put in the work to do so.

Potentially high reward but for a 3rd round pick pretty high risk unless the conditions are designed to mitigate that risk.

I agree, they have the best offense in the league in terms of points per game. They ended up losing to the Bills because of their defense inability to stop Allen. Not sure how another offensive weapon helps especially when consider we're getting White back later this season.

They have a bunch of role player receiver. Toney, on paper since he’s always hurt, might be their most talented receiver now.

Hill the scumbag changes how defenses played KC. They are still really good but it hurts them against top defenses like ours. This is the Rams problem as well. Defenses can squat on underneath stuff without the fear of being torched.
