Toyo321
Even Boomer was saying it was so stupid to kick that ball into the endzone. Leave it to McD and Frazier to screw up probably the best offensive effort by our team in a playoff game ever, period...... 3

SUNTANBILLS FAN
This is why you don’t play prevent defense and you squib the ball! I’m sorry Josh you should be the one going man Mahomes is good but we are going home to play the championship. The special teams and defense coaches let you and us down
Frank Troisi
I think the late Hill TD scared them for the rest of the game, they gave room up the middle to protect from him again getting behind them, thought it was over so didnt notice but l assume Hill was back to return with 13 seconds left and that is why they didnt squib it? We make some fundamentally WRONG DECISIONS in every game we play. No excuse for that. Get some smart people on the staff who can figure this stuff out. Like Ph.Ds from Ivy league schools. Yep but please tell me how firing him is an overreaction. I would need every player in that locker room to tell me "don't you dare."

McDermott doesn't make a lot of mistakes but that one was probably his biggest ever. Agree high and short so they have to return it. Squib kick, the #### doesn't start till KC player touches it and he could immediately give him self up. So maybe end up with maybe one or two at most less seconds but ball at 35 to 40 instead. Should have only rushed 2 or 3 at most, at that point, let Mahomes run around and kill clock

DCOrange
The days of a squib costing a team 3+ seconds are long gone. The chiefs would have fielded it on a knee or immediately kneeled. It wouldn’t have run any time off the clock unless they fumbled it. All it would have done is maybe given them better field position. Nothing wrong with the kickoff. Maybe you go for a regular kick that comes up a little short of the end zone but in all likelihood they’d just let it bounce into the end zone for a touchback anyways. The defense screwed up an easy situation for us. Edited January 24, 2022 by DCOrange 3

LABILLBACKER
Pretty much every person on the planet is wondering why we didn't squib or at least kick a short pop up. This is why Dermott will never be coach of the year. When I saw Hussey ignore blatant holding multiple times on Oliver in the first half I knew the inevitable. Gotta have some State Farm representation in the SB.
Mantis
Agreed. As bad as the defense was in the last :13, I could almost forgive an exhausted defense against a powerful offense. I can't forgive stupid. I don't understand how guys can devote their lives to a sport and then not know the simple things that any fan knows.
Jagsfan32277
In hindsight now, seeing your defense was tired and the chiefs offense was unstoppable, I would have gone for the win, onside kick.

Locomark
It goes beyond McD. His staff wasn’t good tonight either. Daboll had 2 three and outs where we ran all 3 plays which is crazy with this talent and literally neglected Diggs and Frazier never brought anyone from the edge to attempt to try something different even though his defense had almost no negative plays. In OT we needed to force a big play and not just sit in his vanilla scheme. We lost the game on the OT coin flip without taking any defensive chances to force long yardage. Wayne Cubed
Along with that, why not purposefully commit defensive holding on their receivers. Yea you’ll get the 5 yard penalty but it can also eat up some clock. 2

TheBrownBear
I sort of get being terrified of Hill after what he did to us in the second half. We should have dropped everyone back with 13 seconds though. Hill and Kelce should have been completely bracketed. Let Mahomes run around for 10 seconds waiting for someone to get open.
NewEra
I hope the nfl changes their OT rules that allows both QBs to have a chance to win the game for their teams. It’s never made sense to me after watching college adapt. ladies and agents.. it’s been a helluva season that culminated in the greatest football game ever played. 17 did what he could. Too bad he was deprived of another opportunity due to a coin toss. i shed tears when 17 to 13 happened. It felt great. I’ll take that with me into the offseason with hopes that next season won’t end with the same heartbreak and I’ll be able to end the season with tears of joy. It felt amazing….until it didn’t. we’ll be back. 💯 17 1

Your Brown Eye
When all the chips are on the line, McDermott has zero situational awareness. 31 other teams would've played that last 13 seconds differently. He absolutely wasted a historic game by Allen and Davis. 2
