CSBill
I have nothing to apologize for, always thought he would develop in time. Most TEs take time. And there is still much room for growth. 1 2

I'll give him a congrats, good job and thank you for putting in the work to get better though. If he has truly become a top, playmaking TE.... Oh my god, this offense is going to be unstoppable. Really excited to see what he does the rest of the year. Lol, seriously? I think you may want to read my post again.

Success
I mean, since the beginning of the internet, this has happened. There isn't a single player who should be called a bust until at least year 3. Snap judgments in a player's first season or 2 are practically worthless. And we've seen the same with Epenesa, Oliver, Edmunds - and really, countless others over the years. Some guys really do turn into busts or disappointments (obviously), but you have to give players time. Knox is amazing now. Has he even dropped a pass? What a revelation this year. No one is thinking of Ertz now.

london_bills
He's not dropping the ball and is a mismatch for defenders. I wrote him off as being average after all the drops but who isn't after dropping or fumbling. He's upped it bigtime

Turk71
I criticized his inconsistency catching the ball. I had doubts he would ever get it together. Now I'm just really psyched he is breaking out. A tight end threat has been missing for so long. Good job Dawson! With Knox' emergence and breakout, Emmanuel Sanders playing like his best years in Denver and the running game fired up, this offense threatens from every position now. This is a no-brainier! I always liked Knox, despite the drops. He made some GREAT catches, so it was concentration, not hands. It seems like he’s fixed that and he’s a mismatch for defenses who have so many other weapons to worry about. More help on Knox means the other guys have more space. Pick your poison!

Einstein's Dog
I liked Knox, just didn't think he was TE1 material for a Superbowl contending team. I thought Knox would be good developmental TE2 to Ertz. I was thinking of apologizing for my Ertz obsession but am holding off on that. This team is seriously devoid of a TE2. I think depth at TE could be the worst depth of any position group on the team. We have great DL depth, OL depth nice, dual RBs, even a quality QB2. Someone gave Hollisters numbers upstream but those numbers should be compared to our backup TE, whoever that is. Does Gilliam count? That's embarrassing. Scott7975
Bills’ Dawson Knox is NFL’s best tight end through 5 weeks, and Travis Kelce helped him do it https://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/2021/10/bills-dawson-knox-is-nfls-best-tight-end-through-5-weeks-and-travis-kelce-helped-him-do-it.html Quote “(Kelce) probably broke down film for two hours on one route for us,” Knox said last week. “He calls himself the Picasso of routes. It might look like a certain type of route but it’s gonna be a little different. Like Picasso used to draw humans and little things might be different, but it’s still a human. He kind of puts his own twist on stuff.” Knox said that Kelce emphasized the importance of working on timing with the quarterback. Those repetitions and familiarity have allowed him and Patrick Mahomes to dominate opposing defenses the past few seasons. Knox took that approach with Allen in the summer and the two were able to put little twists on different routes they worked on. I knew Knox went to TE University or whatever but I didn't realize he was working with Kelce, Kittle, and Olsen there.
Ralonzo
On 10/11/2021 at 11:46 AM, Hapless Bills Fan said: Not quite. The difference is that previously, Knox was no Kelce. When Knox had his opportunities, he couldn't take advantage of them. He wasn't physical enough to beat press coverage or to get off the line and get separation downfield. Now though.... I kind of took the opposite tack… even through last year Kelce would have bouts of the dropsies. If Kelce can be the best with his traits even with the occasional hiccup, then Knox with his similar traits and hiccups is worth taking the long view on. Knox has always had those flash plays even as a rookie, and has been said, came in awfully raw - like the Josh Allen of tight ends.

He wasn't good, but most reasonable people could see the potential and understand his rawness and the historical learning curve for the position. The "criticism" was basically that "he sucks" and we need to move on and find somebody else. Take the L. But nope, now we get Badol'ian argument shifts- "well, he did suck so I was right!"

Hey I am very glad he worked out the drop issues. He always had the athletic potential to be a great tight end - no one knew if he could actually develop it though, partly because he was used so sparingly in college as a pass catcher. His drop issues early rightly worried some fans, including me. I’m not apologizing for squat.

Poleshifter
When Dawson Knox was drafted, I immediately loved the pick. Not that I knew much about him, but as soon as the Bills made that pick, Belichek traded out of his spot two picks later. That seemed to indicate we may have spoiled his plan for taking his next big tight end. It could be just coincidence, but it could have been cause and effect.
