Browns going to miss the playoffs because they lost all of their WRs the day before a very important week 16 game .

Sucks to say because we are one of the favorites to win the superbowl but youre going to have to put at least a small asterisk on the winner this year.

No they are gonna miss the playoffs because they allowed the putrid Jets offense to score 23 points and turned the ball over 3 times.

Which is why the rule that fumbles can't be advanced at the end of the game was put into the rule book.

The league changed the rule after the Raiders "Holy Roller" vs. the Chargers in the 70's?

Yes...why is that surprising? Most rule changes come because of specific plays in the playoffs they feel are wrong but technically correct under the rules.

Fumbled on 4th down at the line for scrimmage can only be advanced by the person who fumbled it.

But the ball never touched the ground. So how is that any different than a pitch or a handoff... intent? And they allow that kind of fumbled exchanges to happen on last plays of games.

Exactly was anyone crying when we had No TEs except one because he was at his kids Birth. Adapt or Fail. Browns did what Browns do. Failed

Right.  Everyone played under the  same rules.  It was incumbent on the teams to ensure players and coaches were following the rules, staying safe, etc and also that they had back up plans.  Some teams were poor at it, some were unlucky, but I see no difference between this and any other year when injuries can and do affect teams ability to win.

Absolutely not, terrible take. Teams need to adapt to the situation. The Browns had 4 receivers out and they adapted by having Baker throw 50+ times. No asterisks because teams play with stupid gameplans

When has a fumbled exchange happened within the last two minutes that you can reference for the purpose of this debate?

If the ball is knocked loose, it is a fumble. That's all that matters.

not favored,  but not out of the running. Shocking you don’t even know the odds.

We were out of the running, if you saw how the Jags have been playing then you would have known that. Shocking that you would eve think the Jags would win one of the last two, nice try though.

If we win out, colts win, browns win, and titans lose, we would face the titans in the first round.

The Titans would have to lose to the Texans after beating the Packers tonight. Not happening.

If the Bills win out they will be the #2 with the Dolphins or Colts matchup virtually locked in depending on the Steelers/Browns game.  Steelers win we will play the Dolphins again. Browns win and we are playing the Colts. It really is that simple if the Bills win out.

Fumbles on his last 2 drives.

Well....if you are looking to take a crap on Mayfield ....so be it.....I kinda like the Browns....same Karma as Bills ...would like to see them in the playoffs for their fans and city ....and see them bump someone better out...

We are trying to tell you mathematically your terrible team was not out of the running until today and you are clearly too dense to comprehend this. Enjoy your stay chief.

Just win baby.  I've always hated the idea of resting starters anyways.

I suspect officials scewed the Browns on the call.  Fumbled backwards and did not hit the ground.  That should be eligible for advancement, imo.

For anyone confused,

Fumble:  1 Definition.

A ball that is intentionally muffed, and goes forward or backward, is a batted ball (12-1-8). ... If the player loses possession after he has tucked the ball into his body, it is a fumble.

each win cost them a different QB in the draft.

Huh? Jets were locked into #2 even if they won all 3 games.

Quick rules question regarding the fumbles within two minutes. I know the player that fumbled is the only one that can advance the ball. My question is: if the QB fumbles the ball, can he pick it up and then pass it since he is the player that fumbled the ball? Or does the term "advance" apply strictly to running with the ball? I am a little foggy on the terminology.

Certainly seems, with how today has played out, that we will be playing out the last 2 weeks as normal (minus resting anyone who’s banged up).

I’m not sure our team cares much about who they play, but I do think they want the 2 seed and potential home field throughout until/if they play KC.

He can't advance the ball past the line of scrimmage, fumble and then throw a pass.

If he's behind the line of scrimmage he can throw a pass.
